Lynnea finally turned and went into the den as Imika slipped out of sight. She hid her face in her paws because she was very sad. It was probably the first time she ever wished that something could change in her life. However, even with being sad, she knew that it was for the best. She knew that Imika would prosper and grow out on her own and be a wonderful fox. However, Lynnea knew it would take her a few days to feel better about it.

Coalan watched Nicolis leave after his sister, and then turned to his mate. "Well, please don't be too sad. It is not like you cannot go and visit them. They both live close. And they will be fine on their own, so don't you worry." Coalan said, seeing the sad look on Lynnea's face.

"I will be fine, just need to get used to everything. Hey, lets go for a walk!" she said, excited at the idea of going on some new adventures since her kits were grown. She liked the idea a lot so she got up and looked around as she waited for him to say yes or no to the idea.

Coalan smiled at his mate and nuzzled her. "Of course we can go on an adventure. Where would you like to go? Back to the old waterfall? Or somewhere new?" he asked, waiting for her decision and hoping that would make her cheer up.

"We have not visited the caves in a long time," she said, smiling brightly. So she stood, stretched, and then bounced lightly on her paws. She was excited to go on another adventure because it had been a long time since they had.

Coalan smiled and stood, following his mate who still had as much energy as before she had their two kits. He was proud of her and was glad to see the excitement in her eyes. "Want to race like old times?" he asked, still having youthful energy himself.

"Of course," she said, taking off in the direction of the caves before the words were even out of her mouth. She loved the feel of the wind tearing at her fur as she ran. She looked back at Coalan a few times and increased her speed to make sure she stayed ahead of him.

Coalan paced himself knowing that he could outrun her any time he chose to and allowed her to feel some satisfaction. But as the caves drew nearer, his competitive nature kicked in and he started to put more force and speed into his stride and easily caught up with Lynnea and soon began to inch ahead and into the caves.

Lynnea smiled, she knew he would win, but she loved to race anyway. She caught up to him at the entrance of the caves and stopped herself suddenly, slipping and falling onto the rocks inside the entrace. She looked up at Coalan, pain evident in her face, as she tried to stand on her now sore paw.

Coalan rushed over to her as he realized that she had hurt her paw. "You need to be careful or else you will get hurt like this. Now come and lay down and get off that paw. Let it rest." he said as he examined it. "Thank God it doesn't look broken, but looks like it may be a bad sprain."

Lynnea laid down gingerly and lifted her paw so Coalan could get a better look. She knew it hurt, but she did not want to acknowledge it, because she still really wanted to go explore in the caves. She just would need to be a bit more careful. "I am pretty sure I'll be fine in a few minutes, okay?"

Coalan gave her a look. "We can always come back and explore the caves later on. I am not going to let you do serious harm to your paw where you may not be able to use it again. We will wait and see how is goes but for now we are resting for a bit so don't argue." He knew that Lynnea really wanted an adventure and also knew she was hurting at the same time, not wanting to admit it.

She nodded, a little sad, but still liked the fact that he wanted to protect her. Then, she stood gingerly and tested her paw. However, on discovering that it still hurt quite a bit, she laid back down and let herself rest. She closed her eyes briefly and soon she fell asleep. She was dreaming about the caverns and running through them and was twitching slightly.

Coalan sighed as he watched her sleep. It was true that they were getting older, but it worried him that Lynnea was not as agile as she used to be. She had an adventurous soul and he didn't want to see her getting hurt continuously. He laid down beside her and contemplated.

As Lynnea woke up, she noticed that her paw was feeling a lot better. It made her wonder how long she had been asleep. She had not been sleeping well because of her fear that her kits would become distant as they grew. She stood up and looked over at Coalan, smiling. "My paw is feeling much better now; I can't believe I was so clumsy."
