I might go to NYAF this September. I'll be there meeting people, seeing panels and buying vocaloid stuff. Anyone else going? When's the Sakura Festival then?

It's in San Francisco and it goes on between April 14th to 19th. The 18th and 19th is usually when they have the parade. >.< Or at least that is how it was this year.

Misaki, and even cheaper to make your own when you style the wig yourself, which is what I suppose you do, on top of sewing the cosplays themselves.
I have no sewing machine, but my free hand needlework is only good for details and editing pre-designed or pre-bought cosplays. I actually ordered my Len cosplay online, and edited it. I'm still in the process of editing it, all by hand. It's a long process, since needlework is hard on its own, especially since I'm used to only small things, when I've got to strip off and sew different fabrics on to the "base" xD
If I could get to a thrift store (the nearest to my mom's house, which is where I live most of the year, is two towns over, and a forty-five minute drive when there's no traffic, and it's a heavy traffic zone. I can't drive yet) I would use thrift store clothes ALL the time. >3< I actually sew on my own clothes. -snort-
but... I love Goodwill. Goodwill is amazing for cosplay. and EPICLY CHEAP. >3<

Yes, I style my own wigs myself... and although I don't think I'm that good at it, my friend still come to me whenever they have a wig styling disaster/buy a hideous wig. X333 Wigs are expensive, but I find I can buy a $25 good quality, unstyled wig and then style it, and it will look better than $50 pre-styled wigs. ((I know from experience. A lot of pre-styled wigs people buy don't look like the pictures AT ALL. I've had so many friends buy wigs off ebay or other cosplay sites that look really awesome in the pictures, and spend $50-$100 for them, and then when they get the wig it looks nothing like the picture! A lot of people have come to me asking me to fix that kind of thing, or they've had to resell it because it couldn't be salvaged... That's why I only buy stuff from sellers I know are good on ebay or good sites.))
I'm not a big fan of hand sewing/embroidering/anything that you don't use a sewing machine for, but I do it when I have to. X3 I admire you so much for hand sewing all your cosplays. My friend said that last year at Otakon, there was a Miku who KNITTED her entire cosplay and her wig. I... feel sorry for that poor girl. I can knit but I'd NEVER have the skill or patience to knit something that complicated! >A>;; Wouldn't it be easier to just sew it and but the wig?!??! Still, that cosplay went down in my books as one of the weirdest and most amazing things ever.
I <3 Goodwill too. Thrift Store City is another really good one close to where I live, and literally everything is 99 cents. Shoes, skirts, shirts, etc. I find everything I need for cosplay there. I live by like... 6 thrift stores, so if I can't find something at one (which I usually do at thrift store city) I can just go down the road and check another thrift store. I guess I'm lucky like that. X3

I really want to coplay one of the vocaloids. I'm going to go to Anime Boston 10' and one in Nashua, NH called Another Anime Convention. I've never been to a con before, so it will be really cool. I'm just nervous that I will be a fool. Dx
There are too many vocaloids. I don't know who I would want to be. xp

I have never been to a con but I am going to force my mom to take me to one so I can be Rin! I have the hair like hers already so I don't really need a wig .(I am so cheap) Also my two sisters can sew so I don't have to kill myself trying -w- If I fail at forcing my mom to take me to a con I will just cosplay for halloween. I might also be Teto, Miku, or (off topic with vocaloids and utau for a second) Karin, from KamiChama Karin. Karin is adorable but Teto is even more adorable then her!
