"I think I love you even more now than I did when you were alive." Reign rolled her eyes and shrugged, but didn't move in the direction Shef had ran. Instead, she padded along the edge of the muddy ditch a little closer towards Regond so she could talk comfortably. "Goodness gracious, don't get your feathers in a bunch," she replied. "You act like more of an old man than I an old woman - and we're almost the exact same age. Get a grip." She gazed at him, her wolfish face - naturally unable to truly express human emotions - carefully blank. Even blanker than normal. "I'm just here because you and that little idiot you call a charge had a little run-in with the Shadows. It's unusual for them to attack humans and their guardians outside of the Ether. They must be gaining more of a foothold in this realm." She shook her head. "And then you had to go be a hero and expend all of your Sacred Gaia. What happens if they decide to attack again before you can recover? That means you're dead. You're lucky I sensed you and came along."We are a people that are obsessed with Death.

((Uhh... just to clear something up... one doesn't use up their Sacred Gaia, they just get tired. The Sacred Gaia remains in their body no matter what... unless, of course, it gets drained... twisted ))
Regond cocked his head to the side.
"He is not an idiot." he said, "He is a diamond in the rough. I intend to clean him up a bit."
He stared at the dark forest behind the wolf.
"The Shadows want the boy, because he is the only one who can save us." he said, "This is not your fight, so leave us be. Or would you like to risk getting drained like so many of us have?"

"I think I love you even more now than I did when you were alive." ((I understand that they can use it and then have to recuperate. It's like Chakra - to be dorky. You can use it up, but if its gone completely you die. Same concept here.)) Reign giggled. "Awe, I'm hurt that you underestimate me so," she cooed. "If YOU don't want to be drained Regond, then I suggest you accept help when it's offered." Then she gave a look in the direction Shef had run, as if she were raising an eyebrow, speaking almost as if she were muttering to herself. "And how, dare I ask, do you expect to clean up something like THAT?" Then she turned to Regond and stood, her tail curling. "However, if you wish to be left alone to die in your current state, then by all means, I'll leave you to become a feast for the Shadows and tame the boy myself. He surely needs some strict training indeed - perhaps even a few lessons on pain..."We are a people that are obsessed with Death.

((Another note: Regond isn't necessarily right about what he says... we've got a plan. A plot. He says what he believes is correct, but he's not 100% right, or 100% wrong.))
Shef eventually left the pervading woods and ran into bright sunshine and green, grassy hills. Smoky blue mountains loomed over the horizon, thick clumps of forest firs hiding their bases from view. That forest being what Shef came from. Shef had left the two Guardians well behind, now, athletic and wiry fellow that he was.
As he was running up the slope of one hill in particular, Shef glanced ahead and saw a girl with a snake coiled around her shoulders, working on an art easel with a soon-to-be painting. Shef could not swerve, and nor could he stop in time not to hit her... but the idiot that he was, Shef tried. And tripped.
Since he was going up a hill slope, Shef fell just short of the easel. And got grass stains all over his white shirt. But he had stopped before he ran into and ruined an easel.
Maybe the girl wouldn't be frightened out of her wits immediately... although, she might be a bit disturbed by Shef's constant, unceasing whimpers. Something about 'evil giant wolves.'

"I've already been drained." he said as he lifted his right wing.
Three purple blotches rested on the wing; something had... sucked out his Sacred Gaia from that point.
"Malis got me during my escape." he said gravely, "You will never know the pain until you are drained yourself, and I do not want you to know what it feels like. All I ask is that you stop being so reckless and face the truth. Our kind is dying, Reign!"
Without another word, the owl picked up in flight and glided after Shef.

A girl stepped out of the nearby trees, and blinked when she saw Shef and the other girl. "Ah... excuse me..." She blinked. "I feel like an idiot, but tell me - have you seen a big dog around? She's black and has red eyes and a heavy metal collar?" ------- Reign scowled, annoyed at the owl's words. Reckless?She snorted. "Che. Brat," she muttered to herself before taking off after Regond, sprinting across the grasslands as if she were flying just like Regond was. Malice is only powerful if you believe he is. A gust of warm air blew beneath his wings, sending him a few feet higher into the air.

Shef blinked and pulled his face out of the ground for the third time that day. "Uhm... was it black, with red... markings... big fangs... a collar that looks like the rim of a metal drum barrel... and looking like it could bite my whole head off?"

Holly leaned past her easel to see a boy that had recently done a faceplant in the soft grass. A girl seemed to be talking to him, but the wind masked the voice. Holly stood up, put her charcoal away and knelt down besides the boy. "What evil giant wolves?"
Obviously, she wasn't at all perturbed by a strange boy running for his life away from the scene she had been sketching out.

"Hmph. Do as you please." said Regond, gradually ascending higher and higher into the air.
He knew that he would need Reign's help, but did not want to admit it; apparently their friendship was less than beautiful. In the sky, the owl could see the rolling plains overhead, and... Shef on his belly again. Regond sighed and dived down to help him.
As he drew closer, he saw a girl speaking to the boy, dressed entirely in black, with long, dark hair. Who could this be? Ah, and another girl! This one ran from her easel to tend to the boy.
"My, my, Shef is quite the ladies' man." he said, chuckling to himself.
He decided not to descend just yet. He circled around them, still high in the sky, listening and seeing with his keen owl senses what would go on between the three teenagers.
