User ImageKalia saw him jump back from her and get up and run and she stayed where she was. "Damn man. Doesn't he know to stay put when he is injured..." she muttered rising to her feet. She followed after him for a few steps, in time to see him collapse. She re-sheathed her sword and picked him up in her arms, a little awkwardly since he was taller then she was and carried him back to her house setting him up in her room since it was the only one that was currently furnished. She took off his shirt and patched up all the injuries on his torso and shoulders from his dive out the window before pulling the blankets to keep him warm and leaving.

Kalia picked up her cell and pressed one of the speed dials, "Aeren," she said, "There is a rogue were, attacked a human I'll care for the human but I'll need a 'hospital number' to give his family... and a good reason for them not to come visit..." she said briskly keeping her personal suspicions out of it.

"Yes, Miss Naturai..." Aeren replied and rattled off a series of numbers.

Kalia wrote down the phone number and hung up before calling Kia's number and informing his parents he had had another attack and had been life-lighted to a hospital, she gave them the number to call which would direct them to a false hospital set up for just this kind of incident. Kalia hung up and took a deep breath trying to think of what to do next.

User Image As Kalia cleaned his wounds and bandaged them, she would noticed many spots that had blood around them, but no injury could be seen. It almost seemed like a guessing game at what blood spots where wounds and what was not. His head by this point was completely healed, so there was no reason that she could tell that his head should be covered in blood as it was.

Moments after she left the room, and Kia has been settled, did he awake. he awoke in a fit, awakening with a jump. He didn't know where he was, or what had happened. He expected to have leaves all around him, and dirt. Instead, he was in a bed, with a blanket over him. In his confusion, Kia tried to move his arm to get up, but it wouldn't move. He felt weak. More tired than he could remember.

He could feel pressure on parts of his body. When he slid his hand over those spots, it seemed like a cloth was pressed there, or a bandage. Panic arose in his, as he started to remember pieces of the events from before. The attack, his house. He tried to move, but couldn't. All he managed to do was roll over, and off the bed.

With a thud, Kia landed butt first onto the floor. The blankets a ball around him. He tried to fight, but it was too heavy. It felt like a sheet of lead, instead of the light blanket it really was. It was then, that the darkness took him over again, as he still fought with the blanket, even as he fell back into unconsciousness.

User ImageKalia had gotten an IV from the medical storage and called to order some blood. As much as she didn't believe the anima thing for a moment if it worked she was willing to try. She set it aside when she saw he had fallen out of bed, "Stupid man..." she murmured lifting him gently and tucking him back into the bed. She set up the IV and drew a bag of her own blood to hook up to it for now before sticking the IV into the artery in the crook of his elbow. She settled herself on the side of the bed to make sure he didn't wake and pull the IV out. Taking a cloth from the med kit she had opened up she very gently began cleaning the remainder of dried blood from his face.

User Image Kia started to wake up again, the cloud of confusion still hanging over him, but the panic had subsided. He felt stronger, and better already. He opened his eyes, slowly. The light seemed bright to him, and he could see a hazy figure from the corner of his eye. In a dry voice, Kia asked, "Where... where..." He couldn't finish the sentence, as he still felt weak from the lack of blood.

His eyes wondered, not really seeing anything at the time. He was trying to figure out where he was, but the room was hazy. He was in a room. Not outside... Then the memory of the attack came to him. His eye's shot open, wide. "Watch out!" He shouted, his throat still dry sounding. He also sat up, and then fell back down into the bed, not having the strength to stay sitting up. Landing on the pillow with a dull thump, he reached a hand up to his head, covering his eyes. The darkness his hand provided helped.

Once again, Kia spoke, "Where am I?" The wounds that she had bandaged had already healed completely, now that blood was being introduced into his system.

User Image"You're at my house..." Kalia said, "And if you're not careful you'll pull out your IV..." she said sharply, "I don't want you spilling blood on the bed so please refrain from doing so..." she said, "Are you hungry?" she asked rising, "Your parents know you're safe..." she added in case he cared, "And for now I'll take care of you... though..." she said looking at his chest, "You hardly seem to need my help..." she said.

User Image The shock of the past events slowly sank in. Pieces of the attack slowly faded into his memory, no longer sparking in his head randomly. "Your place? Oh." Kia said, finally seeing the place for the first time with the haze gone.

Then he remembered her hand, "What about you? Weren't you injured? You seemed worse than me from what I could tell." He was trying to catch a glimpse of her hand, to see if he was right. He could feel the IV in his arm, and looked up to see a blood bag. "I hate seeing those. I have to look at them too often."

The thought of food reminded him of his sudden taste for blood, her blood. It turned his stomach, so he shook his head. "No, I'm not hungry. I don't think I will be for a while..." 'A long while' Kia finished in his head.

User ImageKalia turned to him, planting a hand on her hip the other hung loosely curled at her side the burn over the cut was slowing the healing but the blood had clotted, "Stupid man. You were just gravely injured, you need to eat. My question was what would you like not if you wanted anything..." she said simply.

User Image Kia turned pale for a moment, "No no. I think I'm good. I don't think I could stomach anything right now, even if you did bring it in here and force fed me." Kia was all but waving his hands in front of him defensively.

Thinking to himself, as she stood over him, hand on hip, Kia couldn't help but notice how beautiful she was. Her forceful tone, the way her hips where. Kia gave in to the thoughts this time. He would have plenty of time to ask his questions to her now. He could indulge himself a little in thoughts that where pleasant.

"Do you... know anyone..." He didn't want to ask her yet, He still didn't know her. "Ah, you mentioned something about a council back there. What were you talking about? It seemed you two where having an argument over that, as much as over me."

As he spoke, his vision started to turn. He seemed to be seeing blood everywhere. The bright redness of it. Someone stood in front of him. Someone he didn't know. Then he was back in the room. It was strange. Pleasant, yet revolting. The blood everywhere was enough to turn his stomach again. "I really think I will pass any food, no matter what it is, " Kia reiterated, just to make sure it was clear.

User ImageKalia looked him over carefully and set her warm fingers to the side of his neck, "Your heart rate is better..." she murmured thoughtfully eyeing the IV, "Fine... But you will have something to eat later..." she said firmly. She sat on the edge of the bed tucking her feet up beside her, "The council..." she paused trying to think, "They are a group of Were Leaders that control all the other packs... well not control but the other packs will listen to them... and they have decreed it is their job to keep rogues to a minimum and try and keep our existence as hidden as possible..." she let her hands fall gracefully into her lap to pick lightly at her pants, a well fitted pair of jeans, "The Council also has a group of weres that don't have packs that act as enforcers of the Council's will. Training is brutal... but for those who don't have a pack it is just about the only option that remains..." she said.
PostPosted: Sat Mar 07, 2009 5:49 pm

User Image Kia looked at her, "So. Am I going to have to become one of these enforcers at some point? Is that my only option?" Kia didn't like not having a choice. He also couldn't choose to not follow their rules. They had him, if by nothing than his need for blood...

"Do you remember how I asked you what kind of creature was I, if not human?" Kia was trying to connect the pieces of the puzzle, and he think he might have found a corner piece. But the puzzle was hard when you didn't know what the picture was. "What other creatures are there? You keep talking about weres as though they are the only ones, besides humans. What others are out there? How many different creatures besides humans and weres?"

User ImageKalia frowned lightly a tiny line puckering her brow, "There are humans, weres, sorceress and sorceresses... but other then that..." she sighed, "Nothing... I've been around long enough to know... and the Council elders have been around even longer... they would know but there are no others..." She frowned, "You're not a were... and I have never met a sorcerer who healed like a were or didn't use magic... sorcerers are direct lineage and there is no way a family would have let one get lost..."

User Image Kia scowled, "Damn!" He pounded his fist into the side of the bed, cracking the wood. Then he retreated it, putting it in his mouth as he had cut himself on the wood.

"I was hoping there would be something. Back in the park, no never mind. It probably doesn't mean anything." Kia dismissed the though as he started to suck on his hand. The blood tasted sweet. It was... rather good... NO! Drinking blood is not a food source. Blood is gross and drinking blood is not right.

Kia then realized he had broken her bed, even if only a crack along its side. "Sorry. I guess I didn't notice my strength." He had pulled out his hand, the bleeding having already stopped. "This is so frustrating. Being told your not human, but that no one knows what you are. Almost as bad as not knowing who you are, and no one is around to tell you." The frustration was starting to become too much.

User ImageKalia pressed gently on his shoulder and once he was laying back down she pulled the blankets back up over him, "No matter what you are healing takes energy... So rest..." she said leaning over to him, to pin him with a look, "I'll be down the hall so call and I'll come... but rest... maybe things'll make a little more sense after some sleep..." she said and walked to the door, she paused and blew him a kiss absently before turning out the lights and easing the door closed.

Kalia grabbed a blanket from the linnen's closet and plopped down gracelessly on the couch, closing her eyes and drifting but keeping her ears pricked for any kind of noise.

User Image Kia stayed awake for hours after Kalia left downstairs. All he could do was stir around in his bed, and think about what had happened. He was also slowly coming to terms with who he was, or rather what he was. He wasn't human. He wasn't even genetically related to his brother and mother.

Then a thought crossed his mind, who was this Altrist the were that attacked him was referring to? He had confused Kia with a murderer twice now, tracked him to his house, and attacked him twice. Each time he attacked, he would say that he was going to kill the murderer of his family. He would also say that name. Maybe Kalia would know something, but not till morning. He had to be sure it was something, or it could be nothing again.

Finally, after many hours, Kia fell into a restless sleep. He dreamed of blood, and that face he didn't know again. Bodies where strewn all around him. The terror of the dream caused him to toss and turn. At one point, in the middle of the night, he knocked over the stand that held the new very empty blood bag. It clattered to the floor, and then all was still.

He struggled with the pillow, as though it was an enemy. Sweat gathered on his forehead, as the terror of the dead and of blood continued it's nightmarish walk over him.

User ImageKalia heard him tossing and turning all night and it kept her from sleeping well so when the sun finally rose she lay on the couch still asleep, the lines and expression smoothed from her face. She looked actually quite young, without the lines most didn't even realize were there, very young and almost fragile.
