but yeah I guess even 50 feet would a lil overboard . so its a twenty foot blast

(That seems a bit more reasonable. I'd use a blast 20 if you were up against, say, a large group of enemies (10 or more, mostly comprised of minions), but even then, a blast 5 is acceptable.)
EDIT: (See, this is why I hate random number generators of any type.)

((Thanks for the update Inf, but I think in 4E, a saving throw is just a straight D20 roll. you don't add any modifiers to it.))

saving throws are not your fort will or ref so omega is correct
saving throw
