The Queen of Serpents

Eglė turned from the castle in disgust. The tears that were about to spill over the rims of her eyes had dried up and gone away. Now she was simply angry. She slithered down the sandy shores, watching the waves move in their to and fro pattern, listening to the seagulls shrill caw that was piercing the night sky.

It had grown cold as the sun went away, being cold blooded made it difficult to stay out in the colder weather, that's why it was good to be near the beach. The warm climate made perfect weather for snakes of all sizes. She had been moving for several hours now, and she was still on the beach, but the area around her seemed to have changed.

Giant mushrooms had begun to pop up, as well as large brightly colored flowers. Eglė took in her surroundings with a questioning look. An interesting place to be. She had heard rumors about a land such as this. Snakes had slithered back to her with whispers of something called "Wonderland." She stopped as a human sized dodo bird approached her.

"You must be one of the caterpillars. Could you tell me the way to the nearest Caucus-Race?"

"I am no caterpillar, you'd best be moving along lest I decide it is worth it to sssssee if you have a fear of sssssnakes." she answered harshly, her serpent lisp coming into play as usual.

The bird quickly made his way down the beach behind her, not sparing a look back. Eglė turned her attention back to the enormous forest. It had an air of madness about it, strangely enough she was quite interested. In the distance she could see a cottage, unique and interesting looking. Eglė had only ever lived in the castle on land and the castle in the sea. A small woodland cottage was an interesting sight.

She slithered up to the door and knocked twice, hoping that someone as interesting as the dodo bird would appear. She knew that a naga wasn't entirely uninteresting and her appearance would perhaps frighten away the residents of the household, but then again, was a snake women really strange compared to a man sized dodo? She pushed her hair away from her face and waited patiently to see who lived in this cottage of Wonderland.

[[ You should put something in the first post about the time of day, considering it affects a few characters. =D ]]

At the thunder, Red looked up at the sky, felt a drop hit her face, and frowned. She had been looking forward to a decent meal. 'Stop complaining, b***h. You're not royalty. You're used to living like an animal,' the inner voice growled. She grew angry at the notion of her EVER being an animal. 'A filthy, disgusting, animal...' she thought, blocking out the voice with her own dark thoughts.

Red was not quite sure what Molly was mumbling about, but it was obvious that she was angry. Thus Red, once more, decided to stay silent as she gathered what she had been working on and followed Molly back to the den.

She's not so little anymore...

Todd patted Hare gently on the back and then pulled away. "How pleasant this day is... Yet we have not a single visitor. Won't anyone enjoy a cup of tea?" He asked, at first talking to Hare, and then to himself. Inside he heard an infatuated Yes. Todd smiled. "Silly Hatter, we can not do any of that until we have yet another visitor." Todd then took off his hat and balanced the rim on the tip of his finger, he then spun the rather large hat in circles and then popped it back on his head. "Tea it is, Hare. WE must have tea. Assemble the table. I have feeling we might just get a visitor today. A very happy unbirthday present to us indeed." This was rather a ritual in their day. No concept of time at all. They just did as Todd or Hatter pleased. Tea when he wanted it. Walks when he needed it. Sleep when he thought it necesary. Todd smirked at his friend, the Hare, and gestured to the doorway. They would be, of course, having tea in the tea-room. A grand table, with splendid suprises. Splendid indeed, Hatter agreed with himself.

Hare was looking straight into Todd’s eyes, as he was oft to do, with a gleaming interest in whatever he had to say. He watched the hat spin, his head moving slowly as if connected to the motion, and then it snapped back to Todd as quickly as the hat did.”Of course! Tea it is!” He nodded excitedly and tipped his hat hurriedly to Todd, simultaneously beginning to make his way to the door. He skipped off to prepare the tea table. He entered the house and left his hat on the hanger, he mustn’t let it become a burden during his preparations. He entered the room with a smile on his face, seemingly ignorant to the mess that a regular person would perhaps faint at. He hummed a tune while clearing two places, and putting teacups and their various settings down. The one ‘tea set’ had a white plate, with golden edges, and a pink cup, with a flower pattern arranged around the handle. A few spoons rested near, one made of wood, another of tarnished silver. The other had a similar white plate, but this one with black outlining in a feathery design, and with a light blue teacup resting on top, this one with a darker blue edging. More assorted cutlery, and placed in the center on top of a pile of rather decrepit looking plates was a magnificently large teapot, with two spouts and a bright purple colouring. Hare smiled at his handiwork, and then realized he had not filled the teapot. He stiffened in place and hopped in a startled way, and then rushed to grab the teapot, running it to the kitchen to prepare the tea.
A tea party without tea? How absurd!

((Xylophone: I won’t respond to your post just yet, as I don’t know if Todd is inside or still out there, and whether he will wish to respond to you first...sorry for the wait ;D))

"Yes, well, fact is that I'm looking for a witch right now." Pinocchio said scratching his head akwardly, while in his head some one laughed at him. *Oh yeah, that's the way to win them over.* Knotts scoffed in his head making it throb dully, *'I'm looking for a witch.' It makes it sound like you're out to KILL her. you really should try to be more Suave with you're words.* Pinocchio ignored his jibes but took his advice as he continued, "And I think she's the only one who can help me." as he sat on his haunches and leaned on a tree.

Molly notices that the puppet boy sits up against a tree and silently wonders to herself just now much shelter the branches above him are going to be from the rain. On the other hand, she is quite pleased that he doesn't just join them in the mouth of the cave, seeing as they had by no means invited him to follow them from the river. Therefore, she elects to keep her musings to herself and instead, she starts pulling out her various cooking devices. "Hey Red, could you build a fire and set up a split? I'm gonna start on the soup. It takes a wee bit longer to cook then the meat does." Molly adds, her irriated mood abating slightly, deflated by her innate enjoyment for preparing a meal for more than just herself. "'Sides, we need to get the water on to boil as soon as possible. Dun need any germs or parasites adding flavour to the grub."

Shuffling through her supplies, Molly pulls out a few small wrappings of herbs used for seasoning. As she begins mixing the ingredients together for the soup, she listens to the puppet's reply. "Well, hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there are no witches here. 'Fraid we can't be helpin ya. I've come across a right number of witches along me travels though. Not all of them the helpful type. If you could tell me who you be lookin for, I might be able to point you in the right direction."

Todd slowly walked into the house and stood aside as Hare bustled around, preparing their tea. Todd was about to have a seat when there was a knock at the door. A wicked smile curled at Todds lips. "Hare! Prepare another place. We have company." Todd briskly walked to the door and knocked on the door, from the inside. He waited a few seconds and then chuckled. Opening the door he said, "When I knock back that means come in. No meanign to it now though, for I have already opened the door. So you see, please come in, and have a cup of tea." Todd led the Naga down the hallway and he took his seat at the place set with a blue tea cup and a black feather design on the plate. He then gestured to the place across from him, with a flower design.

Tinkerbell

Waking to see the sun lost under the horizon Tinkerbell was surprised to learn her traveler had never noticed her. Carefully plucking herself off of her heel she silently landed on the forest floor. Now feeling rested and energetic Tinkerbell was ready to continue her way back home. Though her whereabouts in the forest was completely unkown. With a quick winged movement she was flying through the forest. From a distance her small, floating, glowing body appeared to be a bright candle lit lantern, owned by a lost traveler.

Wondering how she would ever get home she sighed. She felt lost. The only thought running through her mind. Where am I? Where's home? Where's Peter? At the thought of her secret love determination rushed through her. Peter Pan was probably looking for her, wondering where she had gone to. They hardly ever spent an evening without even speaking to each other. Unless of course he was away on an adventure, and Tinkerbell was left alone with her rampages.

At the request, Red nodded and smiled, delighted at the upcoming meal that they were going to have after all. She ignored the voice's comment of 'spoiled brat' and began to work on the fire. Using the sticks that Molly had gathered and some supplies from her bag, Red set the fire up near the edge of the den so the smoke could escape yet the fire would still be protected by the ceiling. While Molly talked, Red listened and continued to nod, taking mental notes. She knew little of cooking and was always keen to know more. Cooking was a necessary skill for the solitary.

Normally, Red would not have responded to the puppet. But her good mood and innate curiosity caused her to ask, "Help you with what?" As she asked, she worked on placing two sticks in the ground sticking up, the base of the spit.

She's not so little anymore...

Follow the breadcrumbs...

“Gretel, I will be back this evening. Prepare our dinner, and don’t leave. Dear sister, you are the life in me,” Hansel stated as he gave his sister a kiss on her not-bandaged cheek. He said something similar to this everyday before he left for the city to work.

The blind beauty of a girl sat upon a stool, brushing out her golden hair. Gretel murmured a small “good-bye” by repetitive instinct. It was just another day.

When Hansel’s characteristic whistling was too far to be heard, Gretel set her brush down and proceeded to tie on her apron. She was to have a new one the week’s end.

Letting out an almost inaudible sigh, Gretel set to clearing the small table and cleaning it’s dishes. Worry not, the blind girl is quite skilled. One may see that her small, pale hands are all the eyes she needs.

With her first chore done, Gretel made her way outside to water the fragrant, protective flowers encompassing the modest cottage. With a strong longing to explore, but too scared of her brother’s warnings and what he should is she disobeyed, the dear young woman watered silently, listening intently to the low hum of the forest.

Hare nodded briskly, quickly fetching a third teacup and plate, this time a mint green plate, with a plain white cup. He hurried into the room, setting the place slowly, as he was rather distracted by the strange appearance of the house guest. He was used to strange people, yes, but he had never seen one such as this before...

The Queen of Serpents

Eglė cocked her head in confusion as a knock came from the other side of the door as well. Was this a custom in this strange land? When the door opened she was surprised to see a normal looking young man. And so finely dressed, she had not had humanoid company in so long it was strange to see another of her previous race.

"Sssssuch hospitality, no questions asked, I like it." she said sweetly, her forked tongue flicking out at the beginning of her sentence.

She followed the strange man down the cluttered hallways, her ruby eyes moving from one object to another. She had only lived in castles her entire life, neat and proper, this place was something new. The queen slithered down the hall, her arms folded gracefully behind her. She stopped and blinked when she saw what looked like a rather large rabbit setting the table. An interesting land indeed.

Her host gestured to the place across from his and she coiled around the chair, her long, purple snake tail winding around the seat. It was difficult for naga to sit any other way, chairs were designed for people with legs, and sadly she was lacking.

"My name is Eglė, the Queen of Sssserpents. It is a pleasure to be welcomed ssso warmly into your home." The snake answered in the same sweet tone she had used earlier.
