Amelia ran at the Mogalls with reckless abandon, slashing and stabbing wildly with her lance. The sooner all these blasted things died, the sooner Rhys would wake up, and the sooner no one else would get hurt by them. "Die!" she yelled, stabbing her lance right through the pupil of one near to her. She had fought Mogalls before -- they had been all over Magvel when Formortiis was on his rise -- and she knew where they were weak. They were overall weak, actually. Defensively, at least.
Amelia moved on to the next one without even bothering to pause and make sure the first one was dead, panting as she attacked furiously.

A lead-grey cloak shuffled through the snow.
It was very visible, a complete contrast to the brilliant surroundings, but the figure seemed nonexistent to the chaos-ridden Mogalls nearby for the time being.
An aura of tranquility followed the figure. Its signature was so still that it was a wonder the thing was even alive, though its unnatural state was to be expected. Scarce imprints trailed after the stranger, who clutched the lead-grey cloak around a feminine body.
She was rather tall for a woman, although her figure showed through very clearly. A hood darkened her face, concealing her features. Her cloak brushed past Aran, her destination seemingly fixed on someone thrashing upon the soft and serene powder. She passed through the unseen shadow that had haunted their minds just as it departed, seeming to give it no notice.
The cloaked woman stood directly before Melethia. She extended a hand, an aura barely rippling from its gesture. She rested the palm upon the dragon-woman's shoulder. The spirit of order flooded through Melethia and the stranger uttered a soft and peaceful song, something much like a galdr.

Thankfully, A cloaked figure was saving Melethia from the Mogalls. "Take this!" He yelled as he punched a Mogall in the pupil, sending it crashing into another one.

Suddenly, Renault felt the pain in his head subside to just an ache between his eyes, like that of a normal headache. He sighed with relief. "Good. . . that person is gone. . . at least that is some comfort." He paused, noting an open doorway, then moved into it, looking around with a slight amazement at the number of things FEF had in their storeroom. "This is. . .quite large," he murmured, and made a point to search through it later. Right now, however, he had an injured person to tend to.
Gently, he bent and laid the injured sage on the ground, then moved away to the shelves, hand running across items gently as his lips moved, silently mouthing the names. A moment later, he had returned, a small bag of Vulnerary salve in his hand. "Now, as you know well this is going to sting a bit," he reminded Soren gently, raising one of the sage's arms. "But it will only be a moment." With a soft movement, the bishop peeled back the bloody sleeve, then dipped out a bit of the ointment and applied it to the other's arm. In a moment, he would repeat the process with Soren's other arm and leg.

The image flickered.
The cloaked woman gazed through the hood that concealed her eyes. The woman's image flickered a few more times, her form fading into the air. A quiet, sorrowful sigh escaped her lips as she motioned into a collapse.
She vanished before her knees could hit the snowy earth.

With the touch of aura, Melethia's darkness went back to where it came. Melethia fell to her knees, breathing hard.

Amelia gave little notice to the introduction of a newcomer, or her gesture towards helping Melethia. The notes of the soothing song trickled in one ear and right out the other as she let out a scream and plunged her lance into another Mogall. A wave of pain rattled down one leg, making her feel the need to limp, but she continued on, lance moving wildly. She didn't notice as the woman vanished; she concentrated on the fight.

"What person?" Soren inquired in a low tone, not catching on to what Renault was referring to immediately. He managed to tilt his head slightly to view the storeroom. This method that Renault had employed to carry Soren was foreign to the mage, but he did feel a bit more secured than he would have in other methods. The worst was probably being messily slung over one shoulder.
Soren slowly rolled off and sat on the ground upon removal. He watched Renault with an odd sort of fascination, though his eyes explored the storeroom's shelves every now and then. Soren nodded gratefully to Renault's warning and braced himself for any unexpected burning sensations, fixing his attention on his wounds. He could not help but grimace at the damage done. The ointment did sting a bit, but Soren showed no signs of such.

He set down the lovely green-haired maiden on a plush, luxurious bed- no doubt one she recognized well as one of the embellished suites for foreign dignitaries and other such guests. The poor thing had all but fallen unconscious upon their arrival, and it was up to him to set her down in a comfortable position, her hands lying at her side as he moved a blanket over her unconscious form. She would be uncomfortable, soon, and it was all he could do to keep her from being too ill at ease whenever she happened to awake again. Smiling longingly back towards her, Leander moved from the room- slowly, and with all the grace of a born leader- and opened the book he held at his side.
His royal text, his untouchable tome of wonders. He trusted its words and knew the power of its spells, even after a time in exile. Moving one of his pale fingers to the corner of one of the pages, he flipped through, taking his time to find that one perfect spell he had in mind. He could hear the cacophony of the mutinous peasants downstairs, but kept his mind at the task at hand. Such low-ranking individuals had no place, interfering with his ascent back into greatness. It was his land, and belonged to no one else.
The words were of an ancient tongue spoken long ago but was thought to be as fresh to him as the day he left these cold, stone walls. While some declared them ancient, archaic, or dead, he spoke his words in a language sorcerers had no said in centuries. Almost as he began to speak, a wisp of wind blew at his cape- a chilling whisper, nothing more. However, as his speaking increased, his voice growing louder but colder, the winds around him seemed to grow stronger, carrying with them any form of precipitation that was present in the atmosphere. All around him, icy structures like spiderwebs grew on the walls, starting out small but spreading into bright white figures that stretched out greedily from one area to the next.
What warmth was there started to sharply vanish. The air stilled, his voice sounded out against the stone as if against frozen glass, and still the freezing gale blew within the walls of the castle, freezing all in their path. If whoever was there did not escape soon, they would merely be frozen statues within his menagerie- an example to show all who dared attempt to usurp his throne. This was his rightful place, and here he would stand for all time, 'til death destroyed his unwilling body.
---
It was a priest's duty to serve the people, to heal, protect, and bestow the Goddess's blessings upon them as the need arose. Feeling the biting cold from the bottom of one of the stairwells and feeling it approach, a lone priest let out a cry, whipping out a Warp staff from his robes.
"To me! Hurry! Death comes!"
Slamming the bottom of the staff in between two of the cracks in the stones, the priest channeled all of his strength into the magic. Whether it be through the god's powers or through sheer will and magical prowess, the priest channeled enough magic into the rod to extend not a touch of magic, but a portal that would lead to the outside. Through the strain on his face, it was clear that it would not last.
"You have no time to waste. Run, run, all of you!"

Renault released Soren's left arm, moving around to rub the ointment over his right. It was going well, and it shouldn't take much longer. "When I collapsed. . . it was because I felt the presence of someone who reeked of dark magic," he told the sage. "That magic invaded my mind and wreaked havoc. . . likely because I am attuned to the light. I believe you should have felt it, as well, though not nearly as strongly. But that presence. . . is no longer here." He shook his head in a bit of puzzlement. "I have no idea what it was, only that it was extremely powerful."
His hands moved down to Soren's ankle, moving up the robes slightly to apply the ointment there. "I believe it's rather lucky that I returned when I did. . . don't you? Otherwise I may well have lost one of the few people who I may call 'friend'." He looked over at the sage and gave him a slight smile. He still had not offered any explanation for his attitude, or his clothing for that matter. . . and it didn't seem any would be forthcoming unless asked.
A moment later, however, the smile turned to a frown, and the bishop shivered slightly. "Does it seem to be getting colder to you, Soren?" he asked. The temperature seemed to be dropping. . . and rapidly, as well.

Soren listened in silence. He nodded a few times throughout Renault's explanation and he understood then what had caused the bishop to succumb so suddenly like that. Now that he knew the answer, Soren could breathe in relief, even with the ointment being applied. Soren cracked a small smirk at the bishop's remark.
"Thank you, Father Renault... It does me good to hear I still have a...al...allies..."
The peace faded from Soren's expression. Suddenly it appeared that something had caught in his throat. He choked on apparent nothingness at first, looking no more than a bit bewildered. Then Soren's hand shot forth, gripping Renault's collar like a vise.
"It's so cold," he hissed, mist rising from his lips. "Someone calls us. 'Death comes'. You hear him? Let's go. It's freezing in here — I'm far warmer outside." Still choking on apparent nothingness, Soren clawed at the floor in an attempt to drag himself to the doorway. His mind had become completely fogged by the bitter breeze brushing his cheeks, abandoning the wind sage for a more powerful entity inhabiting the castle...

Melethia felt the chill of the cold. The cold snapped her back to reality. Her body started admiting a firey aura that started melting the snow around her. Something was going on in the castle. She turned to the castle as her wings came out of her back.

Amelia continued her onslaught towards the Mogalls. She wanted to keep going, yes, but the stabbing pain in her left leg, coupled with the exhaustion coming from running around like a headless chicken while flailing her lance in what could be construed as a controlled chaos-esque fighting style was making her want to sit down.
She gritted her teeth and continued to slash at a particularly stubborn Mogall. There weren't many people fighting, and if she stopped, it only opened more room for these creatures to wreak havoc upon innocent people. With any luck, Rhys would wake up and he could heal her leg, and she could keep going. Right?
