"Sure." she replied as she grabbed her book bag off the floor and slung it over one shoulder. She stepped out of her room locking the door behind her and began walking towards the stairs.

Kenna observed Fenrick from her peripheral vision. "No, not really. My mother never said why, just that he left and never came back." she told him. "Do you know why he left?" she asked, her curiosity peaked.

"Yes, I actually do. But if you don't want to hear, it's not my loss." He said, nonchalatently.

Kenna looked at him, a small smile playing on her lips. "Well, if you don't want to tell me, I suppose you don't have to. Not like I could make you or something." she told him. "Then again, if you wish to tell me, feel free. I do enjoy hearing stories about my life, whether it is about me directly or indirectly." she added, flipping her hair out of her eyes.

"Then, I shall tell my tale. Well, the dead don't tell lies, but they don't tell the full truth. He and I were... buddies when he left. We were both soldiers, but not exactly soldiers... more of a spy. We were sent a simple recon mission... and we decided to take some riches for ourselves... we got away with it. But, then they found out about it. They demanded it back. We gave it back, and then they tried to kill us. I ended up carrying your mother out and your father had you in his hands. The small house was burning down, the guards screamed 'TREASON!!' as their dying breaths. We all got ran out of town... and then we settled in the town you can remember, I believe. The King at the time found us. We revealed ourselves and ran off... to protect you and your mother. We had to get really far away before we could return. We were returning and word of the raid sounded and he took his life." Fenrick said, talking for almost fve minutes straight.

Kenna had stopped walking as Fenrick finished his tale. All the lies of her life seemed to flood her, and keep her grounded where she stood. She looked at Fenrick, her eyes glistening with tears. "And I used to tell my friends that my father died during random wars, and that he died in accidents, and as I grew older, my stories became that he simply left, that he...he didn't love me." she told him in a choked whisper. Her knees buckled beneath her and she fell to the floor. "Thank you. For finally clearing up the great mystery for me." she told him, not looking up from the ground.

Fenrick sighed. He kneeled and hugged Kenna. He released her and held her shoulders, his dark brown eyes peering at kenna. "Kenna, I understand why you're upset, but... he said it himself, he forgave you."

Kenna sighed a little, she knew she must seem dramatic and childish. "I know he did. That's what makes it harder, I wish he would have said he hated me." she told him honestly.

"You're not being dramatic or childish at all... and, I know, I get it." He said softly.

Runa tossed the newsletter aside and gathered a clean, simple notebook and mechanical pencil for her Etiquette class, and popped them into the air along with her book.
She walked down the cobblestone path slowly, taking in the early morning scenery. As she crossed one of the romantic bridges, she saw Fenrick and Kenna discussing something as they walked. She waved to them.

Kenna waved at Runa and called out "Goodmorning!" to her as they passed. She turned back to Fenrick, her eyes silvery with despair. "You really do get it...don't you? But somehow, no matter how hard I could ever try, there is something about you I will never get." she mumbled. She could read things about him, it was true...but when she actually tried to get into his head...it became murky.
