Irro stirred sleepily to Jen screaming because Jake was gone. He...he made it out.... It wasn't all for nothing.... then.... maybe we'll be saved one day... Irro thought before she completely conked out again.
Jen ran out of The Facility. Where could that little brat have gone?! We need him back and soon. By dawn and no later. It's already about 3 am. We have about 2 and a half hours left to work with. We need to hurry. She pulled out an eyedropper of fluid from her pocket. She walked around, looking for Jake's path. She swallowed a drop of the liquid when she found the vent he had escaped from. I'll find you before 10 minutes are over. My energy drink allows me to not lose my concentration, smell out your track and keeps me energized.... for 24 hours. So I will find you.

Jake kept up his fast pace. He could see lights, from the top of a cliff... "How do I get down there? If I jump, I might break a leg..." The cliff was about a ten foot drop. "Guess I'll run around the edge-" The cliff side suddenly gave out and sent Jake hurtling to the ground, along with several large chunks of upturned earth. Jake landed with a sickening crack, while the pieces of dirt and flora landed around him. He didn't feel the pain that should have raced through his body. He didn't feel much of anything, though he was conscious. "Damn...."

Liz flapped her broken wing as hard as she could, determined to catch Jake before Jen or Marcus could save him from his horrendous fate. Liz had several disections planned for Jake. "He'll feel every slice, every prod..." Her mind became that of an angry, heartless crow.

Jen hissed and began to run after Jake's trail, faster than he had gone on her energy boost. If he is near other humans, he'll soon learn that they all feel pain much more than he ever imagined. I think that I'll have a little fun with Riley, Irro and Kara when we get back later. That should teach him.

Jake stood up and wiggled his dislocated shoulder. He didn't feel the pain that should have resulted from the action. "Ok... Those science-freaks can do some freaky stuff..." He started to walk toward the town, when he heard a heavy flapping noise.

Liz couldn't see through the thick foliage of the tree tops. She could see that she was approaching a small town. "I'll intercept the brat. He'll never see so much as a lightbulb when I get to him!" Unknowingly flying right over her prey, Liz headed toward the town.

Irro finally stirred and woke up. "Kara? Riley? Where are you?" she whimpered weakly. Her skin felt a bit parched and she saw a pool next to her. I'll just take a little swim... That was when she realized that she was in seal form. The terror woke her up completely. She screamed. "Riley!!!! Kara!!! We're trapped again!!!"
Jen kept running until she came to the cliff. He was here only a little while ago. But the trail ends right here. So where's the brat? Jen thought while looking at the sky and smelling the area.

Kara twitched, and woke up in a daze. She thought heard her name. "Ow..." She sat up slowly, feeling the pain in her stomach. "Ow..." She lifted her shirt to see several large bruises forming on her stomach. She poked one lightly and felt a stab of pain. "Unngh!" She looked at her legs, and saw she wasn't in animal form any more. "Well... Ow... That's one piece of good news..." She looked around only to see the cursed place she had thought to escape from. "Damn." She stood up, feeling wobbly in her knees. "Hey! Irro! Riley! Jake! Anyone out there?!" She poked the door's handle, knowing it would be locked after what she did earlier. "Anyone out there?! Is everyone ok?!"
{Kara wasn't awake to hear about Jake's escape. Once someone mentions it, she'll probably panic. Or be proud of the boy. mrgreen }

Irro heard Kara call out. "Are you okay? I'm stuck as a seal right now. I don't think... the antidotes work one me because I've been semi-exposed for 5 years. Jake's gone. Jen, Marcus and Liz are all after him. If we can figure a way out of our cages, we'll be free." But I need a working antidote... Maybe they made the green sludge for special cases like me! She dumped everything out of her jacket and found the syringes there. She stabbed her flipper onto one with green sludge and forced it into her skin. I hope that works...
Jen realized that Jake had either jumped or fallen off the cliff. It's a bit far to jump... But I don't have a choice. Jen jumped and landed on the ground, only cutting her leg because of the hyper-energy booster she had taken. "Found you." she said maliciously as she went for his throat.

Kara nearly fell over when she heard about Jake. "WHAT?!" She punched the door hard. "The last time I saw him, he tried to sacrifice himself to save me! Why is he trying to get out?! He could be killed if he's caught!!" The sentence sent a small stab of pain to her heart. "It'll be my fault..." She slid against the door to the ground. She could feel the shock taking over. "He'll be dead because of me..."

Liz flew to the edge of the town and landed, facing the way she came. "You'll never get past me, boy." Her eyes were filled with murderous intent

Jake felt hands close around his throat. "Ack! Lemme go!" He kicked hard at Jen with his unbroken leg.
{Jake's hurt like hell, Jen's caught him, and Liz's waiting for him incase he escapes... He's so screwed, nothing could get him out of this situation except a miracle!}

Riley stirred, hre instincts kicking in. She sat up, coughing. "Something's wrong with Jake; we have to go. Now." She limped into the bushes, searching. She smiled as her hands closed around a small metallic item; a key. Riley jumped up, unlocking her cage and running to Kara's cage, unlocking it as well. She tossed the key to Irro. "When you feel better, follow us, ok?" She turned to Kara. "We're going to save him, but we've gotta make it look like we're still here."

Kara nodded numbly. "Do you guys have some spare clothes? You could stuff them with leaves and face them toward the back wall... It'd look like you're just sleeping in a corner, or crying in frustration..." She sounded monotone and wiped the forming tears with the back of her hand. "I could stay here... and divert attention..." She hiccupped and tried to hold back her sobs. "You guys should hurry... We don't know if they left someone to guard us..."

Irro whimpered but felt her hands come back and she said quietly. "I'm human again. That's all that matters right now." And she slid the key into the lock. "Riley, I'm coming too. No matter what. Kara, if we're going to save Jake, crying won't be much use. Not yet. I think Jen has some stuff we could use to disguise ourselves and our footsteps. We'll look like resident scientists who usually don't work with the experiments. They work in Seattle. We're just 'visiting'." She rushed into Jen's lab, grabbed some disguising potions and some lab coats. "Drink these, and put these on. We'll have 3 hours." She took one and downed it and put on her lab coat as she ran out the door.
Jen grunted as the kick landed, but she didn't let go. She whispered into Jake's ear. "I know Marcus gave you something to numb pain, but your precious friends haven't taken it yet, so they'll feel sooo much pain when we get back. I won't hurt them as much if you stop struggling now." She reached into a back pocket and pulled out a tranq gun with a stun gun capability. "So are you going to cooperate or not?"

Jake eyed the gun. "Wonder how hard that'd be..." Without explaining he threw his head back and then threw it forward, attempting to headbutt Jen into unconsciousness.

Liz was getting impatient. She walked into the little clearing under the cliff, to see Jake and Jen fighting. "Don't bother boy." She ran up and grabbed his arm, inserting a tranq. "Sleep well, boy. When you wake up, you'll be in my own personal hell."

Kara shook her head. "If I go too, then there'll be no one to distract anyone out there. You guys go. I'm going to make sure they think you're still here." She was still shocked from thinking about Jake. "Hurry before someone comes."

Irro heard Kara and looked back unsure of whether to go on, but shook her head and kept running. We can get away. I know it. "Riley, come on! If we hurry, we can all escape!"
Jen felt blood running down her forehead. She laughed. "Aw. Sweet little Jakey's never heard of TXB. My drink ensures that I am almost invincible for 24 hours. I feel pain, I truly bleed it. I just don't succumb to it. You're no match, little boy! Sweet dreams...." She saw the tranq dart that Liz inserted, but still shocked him in the neck for good measure. She looked up at Liz and smiled wickedly. "He won't be waking up for a while. By then, he'll be in a cage. You can punish him then. I have my methods as well..."

Kara slumped against the door. "If he get's hurt, I'll make this place their personal hell." She stood up and walked over to Riley's cage, making the bushes rustle as she built a small hideout. She covered it well and headed for Irro's cage to do the same, until she saw what tyme of habitat it was. She didn't boher with making a fake hideout. She walked around a little before going back to her own cage and sliding into the water. Her fish form came easily and she swam to the bottom to wait for anyone stupid enough to try to check on her.

Liz scowled at Jen. "I don't need help disassembling my experiments. I can handle taking him apart on my own." She was still dead set on torturing the poor boy. "If I could, I'd repay Riley for my wing. Lucky me, I get Jake." She lifted the boy onto her back, as if he weighed nothing. "I can only fly with one passenger. Think you can handle getting back on your own?" Liz's eyes were still cold from thinking of what to do to Jake.

Riley had slipped away, unnoticed. She returned with a bright red feather. "If anyone questions us or tries to stop us, tell them we have Becca." she pullecd out another two feathers, tossing them to Irro and Kara. "Let's go."
