The door opened easily in Andreas' hands, opening the way outside, there was no visible thing keeping him from heading outside and away from the estate.
The area at the top of the stairs consisted of three roomy aisles above the outer edge of the lobby and surrounded by elegantly carved, oak rails. On the left and right of Arthur were two doors each and in front of him was a single door.
In the center of the two staircases was another, identical staircase heading upwards in the opposite direction of the first set.
Ro jogged up to Arthur's side and scanned the area, "Should we continue going up?" he asked.
Gregory started up the stairs.
((There'll be action soon enough, we just need to get out of the lobby...))

"Jeez, we got a chatty one," Henry murmured as he brushed past Monica on his way up the stairs.

Arthur gave a shrug. "Up seems good..." he murmured, but nonetheless went right instead, towards that particular door. Altitude also meant a possibility of a fall. He didn't want that risk.

((By "that particular door", do you mean the single door? I'll assume so.))
Ro nodded and performed a U-turn as he headed up the new set of stairs, grabbing the banister as he ascended. He stopped and turned once he was about five steps up, "You coming?" he asked Arthur, waiting to see if he was going to go through the door or not.

Andreas, though he seemed not to be obstructed, didn't seem to want to leave.
He turned around, leaving the doors open, and returned to the others.

Gregory stopped and turned in time to see the door slowly close behind Andreas, "So the d-door does open!" he said to himself as he quickly changed direction and made for the door, oh! how he wanted to leave this place.

Gregory ignored Andreas' comment and breezed right by him, shoving the door open as soon as he reached it.
He hesitated at the sight of outside, in his mind it seemed to good to be true, nothing ever turned out well, never, at least in Gregory's mind that was true.
He took a deep breath and stepped out the door into the overcast sunlight.
As Gregory's body hit the space separating inside from out, his body fell completely limp to the ground. It still had a pulse and was still breathing, though both were very faint.

"Oh, s**t! Guys? Something happened to him!" Andreas called out.

Gregory stood outside, it felt like a weight had literally been lifted from his shoulders. He was overjoyed to be outside, though he hadn't been inside the manor for even an hour.
He suddenly heard Andreas call out and turned. Before him, in the doorway, lay his unconscious body. He let out a shrill gasp of surprise and immediately rushed to the door. Just before he ran inside to his body, the door slammed shut in his face.
Gregory pounded on the door with his fists, sobbing. He tried to open the door, only to find it securely locked. More pounding, "WHAT THE HELL!" he cried out, his voice cracking as he fell to his knees, still beating the door.
None of this could be heard by the others inside, they couldn't even see him. All they saw was the closed door and his body.

"Christ, why do the doors keep closing?" Anatoly muttered. "Guys?" he called out again. "Anyone?"

Ro grabbed hold of the banister with both hands and hopped over it to the stairs below and made his way down to Andreas and Gregory, "What happened?" he asked.
Nothing held Arthur back from reaching the door.

Andreas dragged the body back a bit and flipped it on its side. "He was walking out, and when he passed the threshold of the door, he just... collapsed."

Ro looked at Andreas incredulously, "What? Just collapsed?" he said, kneeling next to Gregory. He checked for a pulse and breathing, he found both, "Are you sure? Maybe the doctor should check him out."

"What the hell?" Henry muttered to himself as he lept onto the banister - yes, onto the banister - and slid down, hopping off and landing lightly at the end. "Is he OK?"
