In the guantlet run the most important rings to have on is fleet feet, diagnose, and meat. Fleet feet so you can run fast, diagnose and meat so you can heal yourslef while you run away for the enemies.

I was running away pretty well last night but died pretty quickly when I decided to try and fight them.. sweatdrop

You don't want to fight, because they will just keep on coming no matter how many you kill. Even if you stay still you will be mobbed by them. So basically touch the statue and run for your life.

or just use a sacrifice, someone who doesn't need the quest.
