I got our rabbits a plush banana-shaped bunny toy that has the peel part partially open so there are pieces they can use to pick it up and fling it. They like it, but we can't give it to them very often while they're in the cage, as their bedding sticks to it. xd My mom got them a new bag of Timothy hay.

my poor bunnies. i've been out of state for a funeral for 2 weeks, and left them with a sitter. we went home for a day last week and Princess was soooo happy to see me. she was running around in circles and utting her little paws up on her cage, just waiting for me to come over and say hi

Aw. =D I love when bunnies recognize their owners and get excited. It's so cute. Fawn knows me and either gets excited or runs, depending on whether he's being good or bad!

Our rabbits are going through some heartbreak, too. Little Fawn, it turns out, was concealing his gender from us and started becoming rather amorous towards Marple, so they had to be separated. Hopefully there will not be any little bunnies in the future, but I guess we'll deal with that if it happens. Their cages are right next to each other (wide enough apart for them to not reach each other between them), but man did they sulk the first 24 hours. Marple was the most upset at first, but mine overall took it the hardest. He didn't eat much that first 24 hours, but we moved his hay close to the side facing her for a while, and he's fine now. They would have been separated at some point, anyway...they're simply going to be too big to share a cage as adults and were already starting to get in each others' way.

Each of them also got a nearly-rabbit-sized stuffed dog toy without any ingestible eyes or anything so that they have something to snuggle with, if they want. So far, they're more interested in throwing them around the cages. xd Marple tosses hers in her food, then gets frustrated that she can't get to the pellets. They do get to see each other for a bit when we let them out, but it's highly supervised to avoid any...unwanted outcomes. x-x They're usually so happy to see each other that they just lay down next to each other.

They're about the recommended age for spaying and neuturing, so we can begin looking into that. The reliable sources I've seen seem to recommend around 6 months, and ours are about 5 1/2.

awww poor bunnies. i wish my rabbits ages were known so i could get them fixed. i think that would solve the domination thing with them and they could be kept together. we have an extra dog cage that we keep in the back yard for dicipline for my moms dogs and i tried to let both of the bun-buns out in it so they could stretch out while i cleaned their cage but Princess automatically got on top of Betty and was squishing her to the ground. i tried kinda shooing her off back in the box i had her in but had to get a little rough with her and she pouted while i drag out another cage. it was kinda funny to see whee

Yeah, Fawn's behavior started with that while outside of the cage, but it just escalated into "there's no way I'm not a male." x-x At this point, they're going to have to be let out completely separately, too. The whole thing becomes so much of a distraction that they forget about the whole concept of exploring and having fun. Once they're separated, they roam around and explore.

Our rabbits sulk by thumping their feet. I know it's a normal not-rare thing with rabbits, but it's still so funny. If we block them off from somewhere, they thump. If we move them and get them too angry, they thump. Don't let them out fast enough, and they thump. If one gets in teh other's way and won't let them pass, the stuck one thumps. =D It's so cute.

Marple's gotten really smart with her foot-thumping. She was crouched in a spot in the kitchen yesterday when my mom came to put her back in her cage, and she must've figured out by now that my mom coming like that means she has to go in. All my mom did was do a sing-song, "Miiiss Maaarple..." and got a protesting thump. xd

No, she certainly doesn't! Marple also thumped the otehr day when she was chewing on Fawn's cage, and I corrected her. She ducked back to this little path between their two cages (it's like a "safe spot" for them when they're out) and thumped at me. xd "How DARE you correct me?!"

I just love our rabbits more and more as we have them. Whichever ones has to get out after the other always mopes or throws a fit, and they certainly both know us individually. Fawn comes to me when he's confused about something or just feels like saying hi, and he's not afraid to shove part of my leg if he thinks I'm sitting in his way or to just clamber onto my lap if he wants to check out the view up there. He has incredible control of those floppy ears now. He pulls them forward when examining things on the floor, back when he's sticking his head somewhere, and all the way up like a Rex when he's running or going through a narrow crevice. It's great to watch, because he didn't have so much control over them when he was younger. Marple has become about as textbook a female rabbit as one can be - moody and finicky and not afraid to express her opinion! She's friendly, though, and neither obviously have ever made a move to seriously bite us or anything.

I need to get new pictures. Our rabbits have grown quite a bit since their last photos.

lol he has ear control ^_^

i'm so happy! we got our plans down to make their new cage! total, its gunna be about 10ft long in the front and 8 or 9 ft wide on the sides. since thay cant be kept together, the front 1/2 of each side will be 5ft (duh! ^_^) the will have all kinds of room and a little ramp to hide under and play on and it leads to a platform with their food and water. there will be a removable wooden (yay!) box in each side so i cans cleans it! no more cardboard boxes! w00t!

i will scan it a post the rough draft when i have the time ^_^
