Her. Terra had an almost genetic fear of the older Super. After their encounter in the back alleys of some forsaken street, she was ready to comply with nearly everything this woman wanted, but not without keen resentment.
The chocolates hit her desk with a dull thud and swish as they travelled to her waiting hand.Terra seemed to relax. She did love chocolate. It was a very little known fact that it comforted her and helped arrange the sparks in her mind, much like pain did. Perhaps that was why she enjoyed seeing others hurt so much; it as like seeing the cure work its wonders on other people, but she could not have it herself. A sick fascination always ensued.
"Cosette," she said as a small courtesy of acknowledgment. "I am... fine. And yes, it is tough work. Especially when the rats crawling in the walls emerge and wreak havoc." The lid of the box was opened, revealing the dark candies. One was taken with painful slowness and half-eaten, Terra loving each second she could manage.
"...you've doubtless heard of the latest catastrophe, I am sure." Her words flowed in the aristocratic rounded vowels, so lady-like that Terra seemed a different person altogether.

Cosette chuckled, a low and sultry sound. " Yes, I've heard." She sighed and drew a bottle of water from her back to sip before offering it to Terra. " Silly humans. They just can't seem not to get in trouble, no?" She set the bottle on the table and nudged it towards her. " You seem as if you are doing well. I hope you haven't been bothering them?" She asked in an arch tone that could frighten a small child if they could perceive the threat in it.

Terra looked from the bottle to Cosette, and then from the chocolates to the bottle. Yes, she heard the threat. It made her heart beat faster and mind work at blinding speed.
"He came into my office," she tried to explain. "He was snooping, and he wanted answers. I gave him some, only some, and then there was a cry and I gave him a gun and later they were grandstanding within my halls..."
True, she had not touched them, but there was one thing she had done, and if it counted to Cosette it was worth saying or risk being punished later. "I called the police to handle it."

Cosette gave Terra an indulgent smile. " Good. You did well. You are growing." Cosette snaked a hand forward to capture one of the chocolates and pop it in her mouth. " It was Damian and Raquel who were involved in this right? And some other guy? No Lorey or Richard?" She asked, sending Terra an inquisitive look.

It was not "growing." It was learning. Learning who had dominance and who you listened to, and what happened when you didn't.
"Damian Centurion, Raquel who was given no last name in his introduction, and Chase..." She loathed him so much that his first name was all it took to make her hiss. "The violinist who makes women swoon and give themselves away. And he makes them dance, and spin circles when it drives me..."
Terra popped another chocolate in her mouth to stop the spinning in her brain, and it worked. She calmed. "Lorelee Burnheart and Richard Mentaro were home, I assume. I don't know." In her chair, Terra sunk downwards. Questions, always questions, and never any answers from Cosette. It bored her.

Cosette bobbed her head, absorbing the information. They two supers were silent for a time, lost in their minds, before she broke the silence. " Is there anything you would like to know, Terra?" She said, with an uncommonly soft look and voice. The girl had to be itching to know something.

Terra looked at her with dangerously intelligent eyes. She knew may things... about herself. And even then, it wasn't enough. Her past was clouded, as was her creation. She knew her parts and what to do in her brain to make them work. But she was not so sure that Cosette worked in the same way.
"What do you do to keep the sounds and colors and light from driving you insane?" With the word came a spread of lips to reveal very white and oddly sharp-looking teeth.

Cosette had been expecting a question like this, but wasn't sure how to answer it. She appeared thoughtful. " Everything heightened is all I have ever known. I was taken when I was very young, so I became used to it very quickly. But I think I understand what you mean." She leaned forward to examine Terra. " Do you have any memories from your time in the labs Terra? I have a speculation about your issues, and I might be able to solve them if I can pick out the reason." She sent her a very slight smile. This was her other job; it wasn't just ordering around subordinates, it was being strong. Atleast, that's how she saw it.

Her eyes dared to look deeper into Cosette's and slowly, very slowly, she began to say what she remembered.
"I remember... a woman, with white hair, and daring, sharp blue eyes that took in every detail of something and stored it away in her mind. I remember loving her, and being together, and then a fight. I cannot remember why we fought, but it ended everything and made her a traitor."
Once more her heartbeat started its wild ascent, making her pupils dart like a frantic animal's around Cosette's features. She was white like the woman had been, but her eyes were red. Not blue.
"I was taken, sedated, tested. Woken, pried open, bled and tested again. suspended in a tube to make me like a fish, until I broke out and was sedated, punished and worked upon again. Pain, and misery, and forgetting... but remembering everything they had done. And she was killed in an accident, they told me. It was the only thing they ever told me, because it was all I ever asked."

The female first gen leaned back in the chair, apparently satisfied. " Now I see. You weren't finished and wired correctly because of the mass break out and all your interruptions..." She smiled softly, before returning her attention to Terra. " It would require some testing and research, but...I could make it so the sounds and colors no longer upset you. I could make it so you can operate like the rest of us. If you want." She shrugged. " It's no concern of mine what you do with yourself, but you have the option, Terra." She took another sip of the water and stole another chocolate.

"Fix?" Terra had never met anyone before who was willing to fix her. With a cat-like speed, smooth and fast, she grabbed the hand that had stolen chocolate and looked at Cosette with pleading, almost shimmery eyes.
"Fix me. Make me forget, start me over and fix me. Please."

Cosette smiled almost immediately and patted Terra hand with her other. " I will do my best. It'll require some testing on your part, but nothing horrendous like in the labs. We can get started today if you like, but I have to stop by the police station, get the lowdown on the rapist, and then deliver any news to Raquel and Mr. Centurion." She raised a brow. " If you come with me, do you think you can just wait outside while I talk to them? No need to give Lorelei a fright."

Terra's eyes caught the light and glowed eerily. She could go and be good... After all, if Cosette would fix her, and end the misery and madness, the very least she could do was as she asked.
"Centurion lives in the classy part of the city. He has his own yard, and trees, specially grown. A dome with colors in the sunlight marks the library. If they won't let you in, they almost always leave the top of that dome open for air to come in smoothly and nicely..." Terra stopped speaking, watching carefully for any sign that she had said something wrong. It was dangerous, the way she knew the ins and outs of the house. That had come with watching for hours and hours as the people inside cooed over each other. It was boring most of the time, but fascinating once things got rough.
"If he works on the computer, though, he might not want to see you. Lorey is afraid of answering the door for strangers. Richard might answer instead."

Cosette casually waved her hand. " I'm not worried about it. I'm an officer with specific information; they'll let me in. I can be rather charismatic, when I want." Cosette smiled and stood, gathering her jacket. " Shall we go? We can take my car."

Terra looked frantically to the small earpiece sitting on her desk. With a sleek movement, she snatched it up and summoned her security men and assistant manager on their operative chat line. "Gentleman, there is outside business I must attend to. Do take care of the place while I am gone. Have any messages recorded and ready for my return."
And with that, Terra was ready to leave her colorful prison. "When will you begin tinkering with my failures? I only do this in exchange for that..."
