Shimofuri nodded, agreeing with Nefir. Her ears folded down and she wrapped her arms around herself as the air took a biting chill. "I-i don't k-know," she replied as she rubbed her arms and looked up, her breath visible. She jumped up a few levels, almost tripping and falling twice because of the distraction of the cold. She peared at a corner where light was escaping.

Nefir looked around rapidly, his fur bristling out. "Oh, man........" he said in a squeaky voice. He saw a bunch of snow whirl in out of nowhere and come together to look like a snow-stick-figure standing at least 9 feet tall with red eyes that glowed like two lumps of hot coal. When it spoke, it sounded like ice cracking and an avalanch starting.
"WHOOOOO DAAAAAARES INTRUUUDE IN THE LAAAAAIR OF THE MIIGHTY ICE IFRIIIT?"
Nefir gulped and hunched down, as though trying to blend in with the diamonds.

Shimofuri watched the snow, mouth slightly agape, as it took the form of the ifrit. She studied it; and lightyl bit her lip to keep from smirking. "I suppose it is I who dares," she said back in a sort of mocking way.

Nefir shivered and dashed behind Shimofuri. "I think you made it angry....."
The ifrit let out a huge laugh that seemed to blow a miniature blizzard toward the pair. Suddenly, the snowy behemoth seemed to blow itself apart, hover in the air momentarily, and gathered in front of the pair until a shorter figure stood before them, looking like a stick-man made of icicles, with a pair of beady red eyes. He craned his nonexistant neck over Shimofuri's shoulder and grinned a wicked, pointy-toothed grin at Nefir before looking at Shimofuri. "Heart of a lion your little friend has, hasn't he?"

Shimofuri stared at the ifrit calmly without even batting an eye at it shrunk down and stared at them menicingly. She held her arm down in front of Nefir protectingly and stared at the monster straight in its small red eyes. "He has as much heart as a whole pack of lions," she said back sternly, her gaze never drifting.

The ifrit threw back its head and laughed so hard at Shimofuri's statement and looked as though it might split in half. "Yeah, if the pack's lions are all toothless and old!" The ifrit stopped laughing as suddenly as though it had been turned off, and resumed grinning wickedly at the pair. "So what're you two bumps doing in my diamond cave?"
Nefir covered his eyes as the ifrit addressed them. He smiled a little as he heard Shimofuri stand up for him, but he did nothing to prove her statement; he believed himself to be cowardly, and there was no point in trying to pretend otherwise, especially to a magical creature like an ifrit.

Shimofuri glared angrilly at the ifrit, but managed to keep herself from lunging at it. She suppressed the tone of her voice as she replied. "We were looking for a way to get out. I suppose wandering into a cave of diamonds is just a bonus."

Almost in an instant, the ifrit's mood changed from jolly to icy anger. It reared up and seemed to grow a little bit taller and more menacing, and the red in its eyes seemed to flare. "Bonus? Bonus??! Yes, it's a wonderful bonus for two warm-blooded creatures to wander around the frigid depths and stumble conveniently upon my precious horde of diamonds! You expect me to believe that the two of you were merely exploring??!"
Nefir uncovered his eyes and peered out from behind Shimofuri and at the angry ifrit. His eyes began to inevitably stray toward the piles of diamonds that seemed to catch the image of the ifrit and hold it in a hundred tiny mirrors. He nervously began to grasp a diamond in his paws that he had plucked from the pile he was standing on. He leaned to Shimofuri and whispered. "I hope you have some fancy moves for this guy, because it's going to take something special to defeat an ifrit."

Shimofuri shrugged. "Weather you beleive it or not, it doesn't matter. It's the truth, that's all. And there's nothing you can do to change that." she said with a slightly mocking ring in her tone at the end.

The ifrit's eyes narrowed. "Do not presume to tell me what I can and cannot do in my own realm, insolent child. I could turn the blood to ice inside your veins if I so chose, or turn your loose tongue into a diamond and watch you choke to death on it." He looked again at Nefir and a tiny smile tugged at the creature's frozen gash of a mouth. "And then I may keep the sniveling one as a pet. He can count my diamonds for me, since he seems to enjoy them so much."
Nefir made a tiny sound in the back of his throat and dropped the diamond as though it had suddenly turned into a hot coal. He suddenly remembered, for all the good it did them, that an ice ifrit was vulnerable to heat, particularly concentrated sunlight. But where they would find such a thing in a cavern of ice was quite beyond him, and besides that, he wouldn't be able to tell Shimofuri without the monster overhearing him.

Shimofuri's gaze remained on the ifrit as she kicked up a diamond, holding it gently in her hands. "You could now, couldn't you?" she played along with the ifrit and she casually began to turn the diamond ever so slowly, reflecting small amounts of light in random directions.

The ifrit bristled as he saw one of his diamonds so casually handled, yet he admired the way the light and the diamond played and created shimmering rainbowed hues that bounced off of the icy walls.
Nefir was likewise entranced, but not as much as the ifrit, which was why despite his awe, he was able to whisper to Shimofuri, "You know, ice ifrits are weak against heat; do you have anything to make heat with?"

Shimofuri smirked ask she continued to casually turn the diamond, now also creating new angles by tilting it up and down. "Only this," she whispered back as she kept her eyes on the various angles of light the diamond made.

Nefir whispered back. "We need heat though, not just light. There isn't any to be found in here, unless......well, I don't know how deep down we are, but if we somehow make a hole in the ceiling so the sun can get through....I don't think we can, but maybe if HE was made to do it by accident...."
The ifrit cocked an icy eyebrow that looked like a badly misshapen icicle and fixed them with a beady red eye. "What are you two borrowers whispering about? Plotting something are you? You might s well make it easy on yourselves and throw yourselves at my mercy. Who knows; I might freeze you quickly and spare you the agony."
