((Elder-san I'm clueless with. ._.; And Satomi I'll post with tomorrow. D: Been too busy today and dealing with so much. Just Tatsumi for now. ))

Watching the demon vanish after he shredded it with bullets, he took a few quick breaths before kicking himself up to his feet; the case feeling a lot lighter after he emptied nearly half it's payload in a solid fifteen second burst. There were plenty of other contents in the case, but the Winchester rounds, the firing mechanism inside, and his rifle took up most of the weight inside. He quickly took position again, putting the case down and scooping up his sniper rifle before taking a firm grip, needing to regain his assessment of the situation and continue his mission.

What he saw though was a bit of a shock, even for the unemotional shell of a man like him. Two people were down... Chigusa seemed hurt, and he was unable to tell her injuries from this distance well enough. It wasn't that his rifle didn't zoom in that far, quite the opposite, he could kill a target over three-thousand meters away with this thing if he had to. But he just couldn't get an accurate view from his angle. On the other hand, at least Tsukuyomi managed to escape; the last thing he needed was to know that the blood of a child was spilled because he couldn't aid her in time. But one person he could see was at the edge of Death's door. 'Kenneth...'

Essentially, the battle was over, but there were still some things left incomplete, and it was time he made his presance truly known. It was a long dash, probably about a solid five minutes to trace along the entire outskirts of the woods, but he needed to hurry. And so, after packing his rifle away, case in hand, he went around the lake, remaining in the woods as he went for the alter. This way, they would see him coming from the alter normally like he had just arrived, rather than traversing over the lake with magic.

Chachamaru turned to watch the results of the attack that Satomi had coordinated. It seemed to have worked as the target was taken down by a combinatipn of Xenon and Grundy bull rushing and the demon she hurled at it. The demons vanished a short time later, Chachamaru expecting some kind of trick, eased her own worry as her sensors picked up no sign of their activity, though she turns to look as a shadowed figure appears near Bjorn. She watched the event occur and continued to watch as Bjorn reverted back to Kenneth and was inevitably going to die. Chachamaru turned back and headed to Satomi. "Are you okay, Satomi Hakase-san?"

Cirus blinks softly as the demon disappears. Had he... defeated it? No, it wouldn't have been so easy. Cirus floats there for a second, on his jet boots, before going back. He lands near the elder and approaches him humbly. "Elder. It seems as though many of the presences here were not necessary. However, it is a relief that everyone -did- come. Who knows what would have happened if things had continued..." His eyes turn to Kenneth, smelling his blood. "We are... trying to prevent loss of life where possible, correct?" His eyes turn to the Elder, though his head remains turned toward Kenneth, over his shoulder.

Regan blinks as Tsukuyomi just up and... leaves. Huh. Oh well. She shrugs her shoulders and turns around, going to join Negi and Cassandra down the bridge. She was concerned about Konoka, and Negi, for that matter. She takes Konoka from him and kneels down, removing whatever talisman were on her before taking Negi's jacket and laying that over her. It was something. She looks to Cassandra. "You got anything larger I can cover Konoka-san with?"

Negi relaxes his flight speed, seeing the demon disappear and not come back before landing near Cassandra. Luckily, he wouldn't have to hand Konoka to her, instead, Regan had arrived. He passes Konoka on to her and hands her his jacket upon request, though it was awfully small to Konoka. Regan seemed perfectly comfortable with asking Cassandra for something larger, though. He nods to them and then goes over to Chigusa, standing over her, glaring.

"Hey, you! Yeah, you! What do you think you're doing, kidnapping Konoka-ane-san and then trying some weird ritual with her, huh!?" Chamo demands from the shoulder of the child teacher, pointing at Chigusa.
PostPosted: Thu Oct 02, 2008 2:24 pm

Chigusa didn't budge, she didn't even move a single muscle apart from the ones what she was using to breathe. She was still huddled up with both her eyes wide open. It is evident that getting answers from her in this state will be like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

Kenneth coughed again, there was a large deal of blood running from his mouth and he was beyond saving due to the massive hole in his gut. You could see his entrails. Though he was just barely holding on, usually when someone held on like this they had a purpose behind it.

Claude nodded to himself as the combat ended, still invisible. "Was there ever any doubt?" He muttered to himself, giving a shrug. He turned and began heading away. He wasn't needed here anymore; and he'd rather get changed, anyway.

[Claude exits to the hotel]

"Right then..." Cassandra, satisfied that the battle was over, chose to willingly ignore the Hippocratic oath - 'It's more like a series of tips rather than rules' - and paid no attention to the clearly fatally wounded Kenneth. Instead, she marched over to the remains of her skeletons, shaking her head and sighing. "Ah... It's gonna take me ages to stitch all these pieces together."" She looked towards her faithful orc. "Oi, Grundy. Lend us a hand, would ya?"

Grundy grinned, satisfied. Sure, he hadn't been directly responsible for any real breaking; but someone had been broken, and that was good enough. He gave Xenon a pat on the back that would probably have knocked over a human, and nodded. "Good times." He said with a grin, before pounding over to help Cassandra gather up the pieces of her skeletons. They would be recycled, after all. 20 Skeletons could make another 20 skeletons; or a really big single skeleton. His mood was great now; glad that he helped break someone.

Xenon's eyes widened it utter horror at the events that unfolded before her. There was a human in front of her, on the floor, with a large gaping hole in his stomach. She could tell that those wounds would be fatal, and her and the huge man in costume (Because Orcs don't exist, of course) had been the last people to touch him... besides that cloaked figure. She wasn't sure what he had done, but she knew what she'd done.

It was her fault.

She had helped orchestrate this man's death. She might not have dealth the finishing blow, but she'd helped. Scored an Assist point.

She had killed a human.

Her eyes grew wider as they began to tear up, and she fell to her knees. She whispered to herself, barely able to bring herself to terms with this. "I... I... I helped... I helped kill a human..." If it hadn't been Satomi's orders not to, she probably would've morphed her hand and shot herself in the face right now. As it was, she just sat there, frightened.

Satomi was just as shocked as Xenon had been when she saw Bjorn revert back to his human form; the demon having been vanquished the moment his host had been fatally wounded. He was not some vicious demon or a creature of the abyss... but a human, the same as her, Negi, and nearly everyone else here, she had actually given orders to kill a human being. As stiff as a bored, her mouth slightly agape, Satomi shivered just a bit at the thought of what had been done, and she could see that Xenon was disturbed by this all as well. But there was little she could actually do, the wound was too critical, she could tell even from here.

"H-Hai... I-I'll be alright." She said slowly to Chachamaru, not even able to turn and face her, simply looking at the scene from afar. She couldn't even approach Xenon who looked like she needed some comfort as well. It was just a bit too much for her to handle right now, and she felt horrible. Indirectly, no matter how she looked at it, the blood was upon her hands...

Having aided in vanquishing the final demons with a few spells, he could see the fight had come to a close. It was fortunate that the ritual was stopped, as he knew that if Chigusa was to complete it, her vengeful desires would have certainly been fulfilled. But, despite fortune smiling upon them all as the battle was finished, it seemed one person, fate did not smile upon.

Approaching Kenneth, feeling his services were needed, he first looked over towards Negi, seeing how he was looking at Chigusa. She didn't seem wounded, but something had put her in a dazed stupor; a state of severe shock perhaps. "Negi-san, the Kansai society will deal with her shortly, do not worry." He said rather bluntly, the kinder tone of his seeming to fade a bit as he took the situation quite seriously. There were some guards already on there way even, and pretty soon they would arrive to take care of things here. The Elder had ways of communicating despite his distance.

Approaching Kenneth, Eishun maintained his serious outlook now before he knelt down beside the man, inspecting the wound. It was just awful... he could practically fit his hand inside there without touching his body; certainly he would die. The elder was going to begin a healing spell, but he stopped when he realized something. "...I can not heal this..." He said slowly, shaking his head. "Normally... I would be capable, but the demon's presence has left him imprinted with a taint, my spells would only speed up his death." A strange form of negative energy, darker then what Cassandra may have even been capable of. Even though the man was human, he still had something lingering in him that was as dark as the worst of demons. However, despite this, he looked at Kenneth, trying to offer a comforting, calm little smile, assuring him things will be okay despite his words. "The best I can do for you is make this journey to the afterworld as painless as possible for you."

After running around the border of the lake, within about five minutes, Tatsumi had made it to the entrance of the alter. He slowed down to a quick walk, his case in one hand and his other hand in his coat pocket before he approached the group, blunt and somewhat casual despite what was going on. He already was well aware, but he needed to give off an auspicious personality right now, not wanting the students to suspect him of anything. The battle was over by now, and he was sure some students -may- have a few questions, but for the most part, there was no proof. The only person who truly knew about why he was here would be Negi.

He didn't say anything just yet, instead approaching the Elder and Kenneth in total silence. Not once did he make eye contact with anyone, instead silently walking onto the alter, getting closer to the group but never once making a hostile or suspicious movement or action. He simply walked, ignoring the presence of all the other students, even Mana and Negi. Questions can be answered later, he needed to follow a few more orders first...

"Tat-Tatsumi!? Tatsumi is that you?" Kenneth managed to get out before coughing, he was reaching his arms out helplessly, both his eyes were turning white. It was an indication that death wasn't to far away and that meant Kenneth didn't much long to live either. "Tatsumi...please come closer...it concerns my daughter..." He needed to tell him this desperately. "...Y-your the only one I can trust..." Blood slowly oozed from his mouth and he coughed again, splattering blood across the now lifeless and dull remains of the armour that once was demonic...now a shallow grey blood stained shell.
PostPosted: Fri Oct 03, 2008 7:24 am

Not budging an inch, only turning her head just a little as she gazed at the guidance councilor, she felt even more unsettled, even afraid when he arrived. It was clear before that Satomi was quite cowardly around Tatsumi, as he reminded her too much of her father, but he also had something about him that just made her uncomfortable. And now, seeing him arrive to the alter and walk past everyone like they were nothing but empty shells to him just made everything just that more unsettling. Not moving, she watched the scene that was unfolding, subconsciously moving a little closer to Chachamaru as if seeking comfort.

The Elder had begun a neutral spell, one that could not truly heal a wound, but one that wasn't powered with a holy, positive energy that would cause Kenneth to suffer a more painful death. In stead, he was doing what he could to dull the pain so he didn't have to suffer. The death was inevitable, but he wanted this man, evil or not, to have a painless passing. But before he even begun the spell, he picked up the presance of another person approaching. He was silent, and he would not have noticed him approaching them had it not been for one thing. There was a strange energy from the approaching man... it wasn't neccesarily evil, but it was faint, somewhat unstable; like a lesser demon of some sort. "Who are you?" The Elder asked, his hands close over Kenneth, about to start the spell, but his head turned to Tatsumi with a cautious glare.

"Just a shadow of an angel" Was his only reply, still approaching Kenneth now without paying attention to anyone or anything else around him.

And at that, it seemed to give a light to the Elder's mind as he remembered that letter. 'I'll be watching from the shadows, a guardian angel' He... he was the one who sent that letter? Slowly, Eishun nodded, still looking cautious, but his guard lowered from this man. He would trust him for the moment if he was really the one who sent the letter of warning before.

Stopping before Kenneth, Tatsumi briefly looked over at Chigusa, once more taking a quick inspection of her, realizing she would be alright. As much as he was concerned for her, she came second to the dying man. Though he would definettly deal with her when the time came. Once again, paying no attention to the others around him, standing at the other side of Kenneth's form from across the Elder, Tatsumi stood up still, even still holding his case before looking down at Kenneth. He didn't say a word though as his icy cold eyes met with the dying man, emotionless as ever like he had been since he met Kenneth, and took a slow breath while he awaired for what he wanted to say. Whatever it was, he would give this man his time; any dying creature deserved a final few words of peace.

Negi turns as the Elder addresses him and... gags as he sees the wound that Kenneth had sustained. U-uhg... He quickly averts his eyes, his ten-year-old mind still too young to handle real, live gore. Or probably even CG gore.

"A-Aniki! C'mon, let's get back to the hotel..." Chamo tried to console him, such a sight would surely cause some form of trauma to a child. He had to distract him and get him back... besides, isn't he lacking in sleep?

Regan looks up from Konoka to Negi and then looks to Cirus. "Cirus, gimme your cloak and take Negi-sensei back to the hotel..." The busty girl was doing her best to cover Konoka after the blanket talisman thing had been discarded. She looks around herself and sees the wounded man, from the trainstation...? And... uh oh. Looks like Satomi and Xenon might have had something to do with that... oh dear... "And then come right back, ok?"

"Ah... right." Cirus looks to Regan and nods, leaving Kenneth to the Elder and this other man. Shadow of an angel...? Hm. He decides not to think about it too much, though he files the information away before walking up to and past Regan, handing her his cloak. She takes it and bundles Konoka up in it while the demon, now disguised fully as a human, approaches Negi. A child on a battlefield like this... and a fatally wounded man here, to boot.. On his back is a pearly white pack, and on his feet are matching, sorta mechanical looking boots. "Come, Negi-san. Let's get you back to your hotel, hm? I'll even carry you. You're tired, aren't you?" He gathers the shaken, and thus compliant, child into his arms before the pack starts to whir once more. He jumps up, Chamo now on his shoulder, before the boots kick on and he flies off at an easy pace, making sure to block Negi's sight from Kenneth.

[Cirus exits to the hotel, carrying Negi and Chamo.]

((Sigh. I missed it all. Apologies, I've been out with a cold.))

Kazumi shut down the major functions of her artifact. The plan had been to provide Mana-san and Ken-kun with intelligence on the creatures on the battlefield, but it had been all too chaotic--and now it seemed as if it was all over. She pushed herself up onto hands and knees before standing up. Brushing grass off her yukata, she made her way down the hill to where everyone seemed to be congregating, though she did notice a few here and there at the edges melted away.

Ken looked around. he was thankful that he could not remember much of what had just happened. He holstered the empty guns. When he had run out of the ice bullets, he had drawn the other gun despite Mana's warning. He simply had felt safer with something in his hand as he ran after her.

He now understood why she had warned him. He had not been able to resist firing the gun. He knew he'd have nightmares of being surrounded by demons as his guns clicked on empty. Suppressing a shudder, he made his way over to where Mana stood apart from everyone. He just shook his head when one of the teachers showed up. Really, what more could happen?

Cirus returns from dropping Negi off at his room, via air, slowly descending and landing at the end of the bridge, near to Asakura. "Oh, 'scuse me." He chuckles softly as his boots turn off, the blue flame stopping and allowing him to fall to the ground. He lands well, with just a bit of a bend to the knees before he continues on to the bridge. Walking was good for him, anyway. Wood doesn't agree with hot objects, either, so the walk would give the boots time to cool down.

Chachamaru had noticed the expression on Satomi's face as she looked upon the state of being of Kenneth. She also noticed the tiny movement she made to get closer to her. Chachamaru reacting moved the rest of the distance and blocked Satomi's line of sight to Kenneth. "Satomi Hakase-san, are you truly okay? Perhaps you shouldn't be looking at that." Pulling satomi into a mechanical hug she turns so that Satomi cannot look at Kenneth. Chachamaru didn't know what else to say, the death had no emotional impact on her. It was the first she has witnessed yet, it didn't faze her. Mortality wasn't something Chachamaru ever thought about.

Kenneth coughed again, time was very short and he was in an incrusiating amount of pain. "Tatsumi...the demon, he told me. She's alive! My daughter, alive!" In the process of saying this, he gripped his dog tags tightly with his hand and then grabbed into Tatsumi's hand closeby, slamming them tightly into his hand. "Mahora...find her there...give to her...say that I will always lo-" His words were then cut off as he coughed again, this time blood just started oozing out of control. Suprisingly he was still alive, his gargled attempts for air were practically begs for a quick and merciless death.
PostPosted: Sat Oct 04, 2008 12:13 am

Silence was all that dripped from Tatsumi's breath as he gazed down at Kenneth, his eyes even more empty then usual as he stared down at the dying man. Even though Tatsumi could no longer feel pain, he could imagine what Kenneth must have been going through, and he could see that life was escaping him with every breath, slowly slipping into the darkness as death began to overtake him. There was only one option for this, and even though he was in front of students, it was best to give him the mercy of a painless, quick death. The Elder's spell did not seem to help, and Kenneth seemed like he was just asking to end the misery.

User Image

The voice in his head being nothing but a whisper in the wind, Tatsumi continued to look down at Kenneth, drawing a slow breath before taking the dog tags, knowing what this meant. It was the true respect for a soldier's tags to be given down to family, and he could see now that what he read before about Kenneth was a lie; he cared deeply for his family and loved them to the very end.

"...I will find Kalevala and tell her... I assure you." Tatsumi said slowly, his tone never once embracing emotion like he seemed incapable of, but still seeming to offer comfort in his own way while he held the tags in his right hand, and had put down his case that he usually had in his right. Instead, something else replaced his grip. With the flick of his wrist, a small piston holding a nine-millimeter pistol came down to his hand, having been tucked into a special spring loaded device under his sleeve. He held it loosely in his hand for a moment, but his grip slowly tightened as he held a stern and steady aim towards Kenneth's skull, aiming for an execution spot to end his misery.

User Image

The voice coaxed him on, begging to see more blood spilled, but Tatsumi said a few final words to Kenneth first. "Kenneth Klingenberg... Rest in peace, and may your soul be guided to Helena once again in the beyond. I'm sure she's waiting to be with you again." With those final words said, hoping Kenneth would be satisfied and put at ease knowing Tatsumi would carry his last requests and end his pain, he firmly squeezed the trigger, causing a single shot to echo out over the alter as the man was put to rest.

Asakura was torn--should she follow? Her indecision meant that she did not see what happened. She only heard the gunshot, her head whipping around to see what occurred. She sprinted toward the others, unconsciously heading to the pair of Ken and Mana.

When Ken realized what was about to happen, he closed his eyes, turning his head away slightly. Combat was one thing, execution was another. Moments later, he flinched at sound of the gunshot.

He turned fully when he heard the gasp behind him. Asakura stood there, a few yards behind him. He shook his head at her look and walked over to her. She would not want to see this. She did not resist when he turned her around and they walked away into the shadows.

Mana watched all of this unfold before her. She had seen similar things on other battlefields at other times. She would not turn away, she could do that much for this Kenneth, she could just be there. Whispered advice came back to her, barely acknowledged by her mind.

Never question your enemies' motives. Only know that your enemy believes what he is doing is right, that it must be done.... Leave the dead and your deeds on the battlefield. These are burdens you do not want to carry.... Learn; do not dwell.... Do not get caught up, keep moving forward....

She did not know why battle only touched her lightly. She was not one for introspection and was not about to sit down and mull it over. She knew only that she would carry away the experience of this battle with no emotions tied to the memories. This Kenneth would be added to the end of a long list of those she would remember in her prayers.

Mana turned her attention to him. In all the excitement, she had not the time to consult with Asakura about who he was. Now was not the time to approach him, she would not intrude on what he must be going through. She knew that everyone had different ways of coping. Tomorrow. Tomorrow there would be time enough.
