It took him what seemed like hours, but he was finally able to discern a defitnate difference, more energy, more eccentricity to the vibration of the blade. How long was I under?

About two weeks.

Maikeru grumbled quietly to himself and turned his attention back to the short throwing knife he had identified, it was always the one that flew truest.

Good, now, continuing focusing, look carefully, there is another line, of slightly diffent tint buried in the larger, find it, and Pull it. Either a nasty and dangerous surpise or a nice occurence will...appear.

Maikeru's eyes narrowed in suspicion before closing as he brought his full focus onto the allomantic line leading to the blade. He sighed, this could take several more days.

In fact it was nine days later he finally found it, it had been bound and twined tightly with the main thread but he managed to slowly pry and twist it loose, now it shone, all of its own, along side that which housed it. A vibrant blue the likes of which could never be seen anywhere else.

Vin smiled in appreciation, Good, now Pull.

Maikeru didn't respond, he was too exhausted. He sighed before drawing in a large breath and lightly tugged on the vibrant strand...Nothing

Come on now, harder.

Maikeru grunted and Pulled more intently...still a complete failure of absolutely anything happening. Vin glared at him.

He quickly grew frustrated, he hadn't had jello in weeks, he hadn't been able to shave, and he missed a date with the hottest girl in the Rukongai. He flung himself onto his back in submission, yanking on the strand with spiteful thought as he fell back. The blade clanged to the ground with an oddly loud sound...Wait...it was already on the ground. Maikeru lifted his weary head up off the ground, looking over his chest. A small ferret, slightly larger than normal stood next to the blade. It was done in exquisite detail, down the the twitch in it's whiskers as it breathed. Oddly enough the blade it came from seemed duller, less vibrant, not as full of life, and the odd vibrations were gone, it was like all the others.

He say bolt upright as the ferret put it's front paws onto his calf, looking down at him curiously. The thing weighed a ton! Meet Chervus, he is the third elemental you have encountered as of yet. Treat him kindly, he has served you well.
Maikeru blinked. So did the ferret. A moment later a great loud grinding and scratching sound was heard as it quickly itched behind it's ear. Sparks flew. Maikeru blinked again, he was having a hard time comprehending this. Vin sighed. GODDAMNIT HOW DO YOU DO THAT!?!

.....Maikeru sat for a good long while, staring blankly at the extremely detailed mettallic ferret. It was, for lack of a worse word, exquisite. "So, what does it do?" Ohh, nothing much really, it takes far too long to really be used in battle, of course, if you end up with several hours to spare you may pull it off. However they are very resilient, and loyal I might add. Just give him a gentle nudge back in now. A slight Push. Ahhh there we go. Now, are you ready to continue your education? I thought that would be an interesting little trick you should learn.

Maikeru sighed. He sighed again. A deep breath later he sighed again. A few more repeats later and he was calm once more. "You had me do all that, for that length of time...for a trick?"

Yes.

"Ohhhhh, I can't wait for the day I can beat your skinny little..." His voice trailed off, his murmering continuing for several more minutes.

Are you finally done?

"Yes, yes, I feel much better now." He spoke sarcasm pooling in his mouth before almost literally spitting it at her.

Good. Now, when you were feeling about for that eternity earlier you were sensing for vibrations. Sense for the again, only while your at it stow away the rest of your gear. We are done with it.

Maikeru quickly and softly Pulled the items to himself, shifting slightly, and Pushing, so as to maneuver them carefully into their individual sheaths and containers.

Now, make your way back to the platform we utilized before. It will focus your abilites and provide a more fitting setting...of course the land of fire would do just as well for this...come on, legs up lets get leaping!

He sighed again, he seemed to be doing it alot lately. Sometimes Vin really got on his nerves. He chuckled, well, she was never boring in the end. A moment later a strong Push sent him hurtling up into the sky. Minutes later he appeared at his original location for training. It was perfect, secluded, defensible, hard to get to, and absolutely and completely composed of metal. He sat high above the ground on the platform. Letting his blades float serenely in the air beside him.

"Well?"

Focus on all the spires around you. Recall the vibrations you were feeling earlier. Now instead of trying to find that certain differential...quality, try and memorize, get a feel for, take in that vibration, until you feel the vibration. It's an odd sensation when you focus that intently on the Allomancy, but you will know it when you do.

Maikeru shrugged and closed his eyes. It helped him focus on the movements and information provided by the blue lines. He finally settled on a tall structure. It reached a few feet higher than he currently sat and hundreds of thin wirelike branches twisted about forming a wonderful structure of twists and turns that he could spend the entire day 'looking' at.

He focused in, almost excluding everything else from his awareness. He felt the same vibration in the blue tether that was anchored to the metallic tree and to his gut. It was extremely fast, and not all that steady, there were multiple wavelengths, it was always different, yet always steady. He fixed what he could of it in his mind until the pattern he had matched up with that of the vibrating string. It was several hours later when he spoke again.

His eyes still shut and his brow creased in concentration a small sound bubbled out of his lips, "Now?"

Vin smiled, the boy was getting better, it had taken her days and days of sitting with a small butter knife to get this down.

Now change it, make it vibrate more quickly, Push and Pull with such quick alternation that it speeds up. If you can effect a drastic enough change you will feel it begin to heat.

Maikeru sighed and begain Pushing and pulling,with so little power, just the slightest of nudges, that a feather wouldn't have budged, much less a monstrous tree made of steel.
