If there is no "correct" defintion, then logically I could say the only way to be saved is to kill someone. Now since there is no standard, you can't say I'm wrong. The only way I can be wrong is if there is a correct defintion.

I know. You wouldn't be wrong. But if that's how you defined 'salvation', then when you use that word, you would in a way be using a different word than others who use the word 'salvation'. Though there is no "correct" definition for a word, there is a current lexical definition (the way which the word is usually used in everyday speech), which one could say is the "standard". For that time.
Anyway, using a new definition that no one knows would be utterly useless for communication purposes.

That may be true, but what is the point if you do not act on your faith? If God tells you to do something, you do it. One does not reply "Um, I'd rather not, because Jesus can do it all for me".
