Scall was sitting on the couch in the Common Room. Or, rather, laying across it and taking up the whole thing, her homework propped on the arm of the couch in front of her, her legs nearly hanging off the edge of the couch. One foot was kicking back and forth absently as she chewed on the end of her pen, looking thoughtful and not at all like she was doing homework.
It was late afternoon, so a few other students were milling around, but most were still in class or just getting out and perhaps heading for a snack before dinner was served. Scall thought she might get a head start on her Charms homework but it was going nowhere. Her mind drifted elsewhere. She laid her head down on the parchment in front of her, grumbling softly to herself.

Jhim had been watching Scall from his spot in the corner for a little bit. He never understood why she had been put into Ravenclaw. She seemed rather dimwitted to him. But then, most people did.
He got up, shaking his red streaked hair out of his face, and went over to the couch, easily snatching the pen out of her hands she was so distracted. He twirled it in his fingers, grinning as she looked up at him, instantly angry. "You know, homework tends to be easier if you actually look at it. Or you trying to absorb some of the knowledge there?"

Scall instantly recognized Jhim's voice, only lifting her head slightly to glare at him through strands of hair. They had a long-going relationship, having been in the same House for five years with him. It was a love/hate sort of relationship, as any sort of relationship seemed with Jhim. He was very difficult to get along with sometimes. Calling him a know-it-all was an extreme understatement. But it was hard to argue with him since he always did know what he was talking about.
"You know, I think it might be working. The absorbing." She grabbed at the pen, frowning when he pulled it back out of her reach. "Charms is a horrible class anyways. Why do they even need to have a separate class for them, who decides what's a charm and what's a spell or any of that? Stupid..." She trailed off, staring hard at Jhim as if willing him to be nicer all of a sudden.
