So what condition is this old doll in?

Well it predates the YT series by 30 years and the last mention of the date of the series was that sometime prior to 29 BBY Raithe Sienar was subcontracted to redesign the series, so we can assume its easily over 60 years old.
Now imagine a working class vehicle thats over half a century old, having seen abuse, batterings, jury-rigged repairs and lots of hard hauling with infrequent maintenace.

New and in perfect working order she aint.

Its Star wars tradition that characters have a unique theme.
Yoda, Princess Leia, Darth Vader; all have their own themes.
