Something smelled really good right near her nose, causeing Madra to stuggle alittle more and soon the shell cracked completely and she was free.
Once free Madra shook off any extra debris and looked toward the Dragon offering her food. {hi...is that for me?}

{Cart, I've got this under control. Here, little one, I have some food for you,} Khala tells the little female, offering food. Khala feels stiff from curling up around the new female, waiting for her to hatch. {Not to scare you, but you nearly fell a long way with a nasty fall. You were lucky that I caught you before that happened.}

The little dragon soon became disinterested with the meat that had been laid before him as he took to looking around at all the other dragons that filled the cave. They were all different, some were very bright colors. While one looked older then the rest, he remembered the other dragons called him by several names...like Grandfather or OS. He didn't understand it much, so he decided to put it away in his memory for later.
He then got up on all fours and started to walk across the cave floor, but he didn't get far. It was as if he didn't have any balance and his wobbly walk made his back legs slip and he fell back on his bum with a little squeak.

Emblem jumped as he heard the eggs cracking. He raced over to the pair, happily squeaking, {Little brother! Little sister!} over and over. {You're here!} he chirped, rubbing his newly-hatched brother with his small head. He then darted over to Madra, bouncing up and down. {Little sister!} Emblem ran back to Sforkok. {Sfor! They're here!} Emblem chimed happily, his tail swishing back and forth with excitement.

{I know!} Sfor squeaked excitedly. {Yay!}
{Why can't I feed him or her?!} Cart snapped angrily. {You lot never let me do anything! Yes, the meat is for you little one. You can have it if you'd like, but I'll bet Khala the Magnificent won't let you have it.} With one last angry glance in Khala's direction, Cart stalked off outside.

Khala sighs. {Have both, little one.} She gets up and hurries after Cart. {Wait! I'm sorry, Cart!}
(OoC: Honestly, really sorry: it just feels like everyone's running over me and succeeding in feeding hatchlings before I even get there, even when I'm the nearest dragon or on the mule.)

Emblem, sensing a bit of emotional unrest in Khala, trotted over and rubbed her leg. {Thanks for being there for all this.} he said, looking up at the older dragon. {You'd be my older sister, right? And Cart's my older brother!} he added, repeating the process with Cart. {Be happy! Today we've got two more dragons here!} Emblem looked back and forth from Cart and Khala, a grin on his face.

Cart sighed. {Okay, Khala. I just...feel left out. I'm sorry I snapped out you. Yes, Emblem, I'll be your big brother. I'll teach you how to fish, how to hunt, how to swim...and yes, it's good to have six new dragons today. Man, am I hungry! Hey, Old Silverback! Now that everything's calmed down, do you care to tell us the story?}

Khala looks uncomfortable. {Actually, I don't think we're really siblings. If we really were siblings, we'd have hatched together. But that doesn't mean we can't act like your siblings, does it? You're right. It's wonderful that there are more dragons around.}

{That's true, but I'll still call you two my big brother and by big sister.} Emblem chirped, happy that Khala wasn't sad anymore. Now, he was hungry, it seemed, for his little belly began to grumble, sounding much like Old Silverback. {What's that mean?}

Old Silverback sighs and wanders over. {None of you are related. I searched these hills far and wide, looking for abandoned nests. That is how I found all of the eggs, but I failed to find more than one egg from any nest. No doubt the eggs were all laid during the lean times, when there was famine. Some of the nests had been abandoned for a very long time, and were completely overgrown. A few had even caved in.}

Freckles abandons her hunt for more mushrooms and wanders over. {That's a lot of nests! What happened to our parents? What are these "lean times" you're talking about?} She tries to suppress the panic in her voice. Does this mean her parents are dead?

Cart padded over, with Sforkok close behind. She sat, eyes wide open. {So...we aren't the only dragons?} she asked eagerly. {Please say we aren't the only dragons and that our parents are still alive and well!}

Old Silverback turns away. {I... I'm afraid that's not the case. It's possible they survived, but... those were very difficult times. It has been years since those nests were abandoned, decades in some cases, and if your parents were able to return I'm sure they would have by now. Your parents are dead. The lean times were very difficult, and many dragons died. Long ago, these hills were full of dragons. These days, you can walk for days without meeting a single one. There are still some dragons in the deep mountains, clinging to existence, but most of them are afraid to return here, our ancient homeland. I still remembered what it used to be like here, so I returned, and started searching for abandoned nests so that I could revive the eggs.}
