Gald to see Gwen Colonel tugged the mare's rope away from Jaden. "That he would. Right now, Gwen you are going to take the lead of that cream mare. Watch her carefully, she's done somthin' to her hind leg. Jaden you go back to the fort and get things ready." He handed the rope to her and couldn't help but think how good she looked sitting on the paint.

Konoha gladly leaned against him. Spotting the wolf dog, she thought it was a wolf, never having seen a dog before. Pinning her ears she strained against the rope with what was left of her strength. She gave it up in a very short time, seeing as she could do nothing but tighted the slack. "Why don't you just leave? You could easily get away and back to the herd." She did not want to see him go and yet she did not want to see him locked in a man made place because of her.

Destiny nickered a greating to the paint, keeping her ears on the other horses. Colonel patted the mare's neck. "Keep your dog in toe and away from the wild ones. They don't know he's with you and not a threat." He ran his free hand through his hair, "I don't think that mare is gonna make it. We should just put her down right now, but I hate to do that." In a way he was asking for Gwen to tell him that the mare could be saved, that he wouldn't have to seperate the loving pair.

"If you think you can save her than it's your responsibilty." He had every intention to help with the mare, he just didn't say it. Colonel was tempted to laugh, "As soon as we get to the fort, they will be seperated. Never has a wild mare and stallion stayed in the same pasture at the fort, it will not be different this time." He clucked to Destiny and the mare started forward, it wasn't that far from the fort. The horses could pick up its scents but not see it.

"Your mare?" Konoha's ears went floppy and she hung her head. "I'm just a herd mare and you have many more to look out for. There is no reason for you to stay because of me." She started walking, and tossed her head everytime she had to place weight on the injury. Suddenly she wished that Path had not come looking for her and had stayed with the herd.

Konoha was touched by Path's protectivness over her. Swinging her head she nuzzled his neck and touched her muzzle to his.

"Finaly! Home at last." The Fort came into view and Destiny neighed in happiness. Colonel held the mare back but she still pulled forward into a quicker walk.

Konoha pricked her ears at the sight of the Fort. Her calm faded as she listened to the snorts, nickers and neighs from inside the walls. There looked to be no way in untill she spotted a wall that had opened like the entrence to a cave. She could feel the excitment of the other horses, which got her blood up. Wringing her tail she continued on carefull not to hit a rock. "What is that?"

Now in a happy mood Colonel twised to face Gwen, "I half expected you to argue that the stallion and mare stay together. Anything on your mind, Gwen?"

"It will get better and now that we have horses to train you'll be too busy to think about that." Colonel Cunningham had been used to moving from one town to another. He had given up on becoming attached to a place and instead became attached to the horses and men. They had come with in the shadow of the Fort, as it was late afternoon the shadows were starting to grow long. "I'm going to train that stallion and you have to look after the mare, but you can pick another horse to train as well. If you want. We can be visited by my commanders at any time in the up coming moths, so we need all the trained horses we can get."

Konoha flicked her ears and scented the air to catch the various sounds and smells. They stepped into the Fort's shadow and then through the gate. She moved closer to Path while takeing in all the men, their horses and the wild horses. Her energy revived, she pulled against the rope, tossed her head and neighed.

The men were spread out with in the Fort's walls, and they all looked up at the group. The wild horses from the eairlyer round up had settled into their pasture, after all there was no way for them to get out. If they jumped a fence, which was near five foot six, they would be met with multiple fences and men. The Fort had been secured against wild horses and olny the strongest and most spirited horses had a chance of getting out.

A few of the men grinned at Gwen while others just smiled. "No you failed to mention that fact." Colonel joined the men in smiling thinking of something that they could do for her tomorrow. He steared Destiny towards two empty sections of the large central corral. On one side a section large enough for only one horse had been fenced in and on the other side a bigger section was fenced off. The other horses would be inbetween the newly captured mares and the stallion, they would still see each other over the distance but little more. Stopping Destiny several feet in front of the corral he turned in the saddle and spoke, "Gwen and Johnson take the mares to that pen and us two will take the stallion to the other side. I'll be over to help with that injured mare after he's in the pen." He started to pull the stallion away from the mare and toward the far side of the corral.

Konoha watched the other wild horses, they didn't seem so eager to get out. Some of them were dozing and others were watching the men. From some edge of the main court a man wreasled to keep a wild horse under conrtol. As the man on the black horse started to pull Path away she dug in her heels, keeping as much weight as possible off the injury. "Path!"

Eclipse was more exhausted than ever, but all of the new sights and sounds were really spooking her. Despite her exhaustion, she had her neck arched as high as it would strech, her ears pricked forward and her eyes wide. She saw many other horses, wolves, and men, and she didn't like any of it.

Eclipse snorted several times, and slowed down as she tried to take all of the surroundings in. As the other riders continued to walk forward, she balked for a moment, then continued reluctantly. She felt bad for Path and Kohona, but there was little she could do.

Gwen dismounted and cautiously approached Konoha. "Easy there girl I ain't going to hurt you, but I need to take a look at that leg."she murmured soothingly holding her hand out towards the hurt mare.

Path stopped pulling when Konoha cried out. His ears were pricked and he looked over towards the mares' pen.
