So for Christmas I got DH and I am going to attempt to gather a group of friends and associates soon to run a game.
Just one problem, the GM. My friend Jeremy, wants to run it for us, but I think that will be a mistake sense I have seen how he has ran his DND campaigns....the orcs were painting themselves blue and/or red along with a gnome. I could run it, besides the fact I know nothing of running a roleplay game sense I am new to the scene myself.
Any pointers on how to be a good GM?

If you plan on running a campaign from a book, be sure to read it through several times to familiarize yourself with the events and to take important notes along the way. Good preparation is forms a good base for a good gaming experience. Also it helps to encourage players to be creative and original, so as a GM you should not say "no" too quickly to ideas or schemes thought up by your players.

I will be the GM for the first time on Saturday, and I will be running the Stern Hope adventure from the Core Rule book. It is going to consist of 4 friends/a random guy I met .....possibly 5. whats going to be unique is that all of these people are foreign to Warhammer 40,000 except for one of them which knows a little tiny bit....like Las cannons hurt and Space Marines are god modded armies.
One of the players, a girl that I hang out with at the community college I attend, I will need to drill into her head that a Psyker is not casting spells and if she does learn how to cast spells then she is committing high acts of HERESY!! *pew pew pew to the head*
Wish me luck as I try to bring the universe of Warhammer to a group of people that have no idea whats in store....

You could give them several light-hearted information "dumps" before kicking things off, thus not alienating them right from the get go.
You might also want to start out with a smaller adventure first, such as Shattered Hope or Edge of Darkness, the prior being combat oriented, the latter more geared towards detective work first, fighting later. Both can be found on the Dark Heresy site.

I have been filling them in with tad bits of information about the Emperor, Chaos, life in this series and such

Also, be sure to share with them the critical hit tables, to show just how lethal the game is for early game characters. Don't forget to tell the group psyker what will happen if he fails a check or two. wink

Don't forget to tell the group psyker what will happen if he fails a check or two. wink I have been meaning to show them the charts.....oh and the Pysker wishes to roll the 9 of his, and with his new psy rating of 2, it increases his chance of this happening......the guy playing the Pysker likes to cause.......issues. funny issues, but none the less issues. The guy playing it is a long time veteran of D&D and likes to find anyway possible to mess with people for humor.....but not dickish humor. I just have to keep an eye on him that's all. We have all together the Pysker from a hiver gang, an assassin raised on a feral world, a Guardsman, a Tech priest that is very negative(mainly because of the guy not knowing the game system that well and the series), a Arbitrator which is pretty much the only one thinking clearly most of the time, and a Cleric just joined up which is a person that knows plenty about Warhammer also so he will be helpful. And so far only one person has almost fallen to his death! I say its going well. biggrin I need to throw something a little tougher at them then that brawl though....

Well.....I just got mind blown!
On the Barnes and Noble website, they were selling copies of the Inquisitor's Handbook for $11.99, along with the Core rulebook for the same price. I ended up getting two Inquisitors handbook and a core rule book all together for $38.94.....that just made my day. I got the extra handbook and core for my friend's birthday.

The Inquisitor's Handbook is ACE. 100% pure ace. It is my favourite book in the range and my best friend for odd background and weapon info. Along with the core book this is a must have.

I have taken peaks into the book before at my Barnes and Noble....I really do like the selection of weapons they have available in it and the extra career material shall be interesting to use. I am hyped to get mine in the mail in a couple of days....or apparently later on today.

I have been looking over the Inquisitor's handbook......and I agree, it is full of win.
How do you guys manage a big combat out of curiosity?

Hi all. I got the DH core book and downloaded all the DH books online. The system is very good in the way it was ment to do.
Now saying that i have a bit of a problem. You see im in the process of creating a DH with a new group of friends and am wondering what i should do.
The first adventure will deal with the Acolytes taking out a nest of squigs that a local farmer has found and wants them taken out because theyve been eating his cattle. I want them to stumble upon a research bunker that will take them deeper into a plot i have planned. After that i dont know what to do.
Any thoughts on this would be welcomed. Also i have premade chars already made for the group isnt familiar with the system.
