"Ah, Fern is my Parus, Hazel, she, ah, ran into you while exploring the festival. Then pointed you out as the Sentinel she had... encountered," Bracken explained, after returning Liam's nod, and chuckling at Chase's extra "eyes".

"Thorn is my fledgling," Liam said proudly. "He's off being cute someplace. I promised him I wouldn't follow him or worry about him tonight... I'm actually supposed to be looking for a Crafter right now, one who's interested in taking on an apprentice. I've spoken to one already with him, but it would be nice to find more, y'know. Plus, it never hurts to know a Crafter!"

Thorn grinned. "I'd like to meet a Mystic someday! The most amazing thing I ever saw was when Roth spoke for the first time, when he was professing love to Hazel."

Hazel chuckled, remembering the parus she'd crashed into earlier.

"So that one was yours, mm? I'm glad she found you, I was worried I'd cost someone a pet." She clacked her beak, amused at how Chase was talking to Liam. The males likely could see right over her, and for a spot of fun she popped into the air, blocking Chase's view of Liam for a moment.

"Thorn is such a nice little fellow. Liam raised him right alright! Never met a nicer fledgling, and he was ADORABLE as a chick!" She turned to beam at Liam, reaching out to pat him with a wing. "You did do a good job...if you find a crafter tonight, would he be leaving right off? I'd love to visit more before I have to go back out and all..." She paused, seeming to realized they were all still really ignorant of what the others did.

"Oh yes! I'm a ranger everyone!" She chattered, taking a bow, accidentally plopping Roth to the branch in front of her. "Oops! Sorry!"

Lore was happy at the new attention, and nodded at the new owl, Mag she thought her name was. After listening to the two talk, she realised Thorn was looking at her again. "Oh!" she said, "Yes, I don't really have a minder, I kinda just stay with whichever minder has space. I'm not apprenticed, I'm not quite sure what I want to do. I like the Bards an awful lot, but I don't think I can sing. Maybe a Scout or something, flying is nice. Or... crafting." Lore paused for a bit. "You looking for a bard to apprentice to? That's pretty neat!" Lore grinned.

“Oh, a fledgling! I must meet the little fellow then.” Chase said, deeply admiring Liam’s visible pride on little one. He laughed out loud when Hazel’s eartufts finished rising. He just couldn’t help it. It was just as entertaining as imagining her flying around and hitting Bracken’s parus. Or watching poor Roth being tossed into a different branch.
“Well, I’m afraid I’m not a Crafter… I used to be a Gatherer but I found it somewhat tedious. So I’m a Watcher for the time being, considering all the options that lie ahead of me. I’m not the fastest flyer I have to admit but I’m quite strong so Ranger is at the top of my list. And…” – Chase hesitated. Perhaps it’s was best not to say it. Not when the mood was so nice…

Liam blushed at Hazel's praise. "I tried hard. His parents are great friends of my father- I was shocked to be entrusted with him! He won't be leaving right off, no- that'd just be mean! Here, I'll call him over!"

Thorn smiled. "Crafter, actually- hey, maybe we could apprentice together!" Just then he heard Liam calling. "Hey, wanna go with me and meet my minder?"

Runewing peered down at the hatchling and shuffled her wings, settling onto the branch. He seemed inquisitive the way he studied her with his eyes and she wondered perhaps if he did indeed have a potential to wield his Will as well. She could not be sure Tempest could do anything at all with his will, he spoke little, but she had known hatchlings before who rarely uttered anything at all. She edged closer to the Minder, "Have you noticed... anything about-" She had been about to utter "its" as if the little one was merely a thing before she had caught herself. Hardly missing a beat, she continued, "about his Will? Has he shown any talent with it?" She knew it was almost rude for her to be so forward to a stranger, but this was her duty as a Mystic. She was too old to waste time on such trivial matters, finding that things simply worked better this way.

Scolding herself again for nearly letting her tongue slip, she set it aside for now. The simple truth was someone so strange made her apprehensive. That Tempest was a mere young hatchling helped ease her mistrust, but she couldn't help feeling if this was all the start of something bigger. Rune, symbolic and entwined with things unseen, took notice of his name. 'Tempest,' Like a violent storm. She gave the chick another look, musing if his name foreshadowed such events that the very word "tempest" conveyed.

Like a storm of violent commotion and disturbance. She hoped it would pass to not be so.

"Yes she was, less than pleased when I decided to come over and say hello," Brack chuckled quietly, Fern had probably forgotten Hazel by now anyways, "I'm a hunter, I specialize in fish, though." Explaining more to Liam and Chase, as he and Hazel had already discussed this, "You should have seen one I almost caught. It was ENORMOUS." Snapped back from his raving about his fishing expeditions, "It will be nice to meet him, as well," he said to Liam.

Medlar smiled at Cedar and Em, "Not at all, pleasure to meet you, Cedar. And you, Em. I am Medlar," he bobbed his head politely at the pair. This wasn't too bad, three other Sentinels wasn't much of a crowd at all.

Hazel bobbed happily, glad to learn more about her new friends. A minder, a watcher, a hunter, and a ranger. Quite the motley crew! She shuffled back to face Bracken, thumping his side with her wing.

"We've heard that one!" She chortled, covered his beak with her wing, then fake-whispered to the others. "He really saw the Brigadier, and thought it was a fish. Just humor him, okay?" She winked, looking round and taking her wing out of Bracken's face. "There. Now you can tell your story to Thorn. He hasn't heard it. And don't worry, I won't tell him you made it up." She winked.

Leaving him to tell his tale to the fledgling, she hopped closer to Chase. "Being a ranger is fun. But you don't get to see many people. It makes parties like this extra nice." She paused a moment, gazing around at the multitudes of Sentinels. Yes, very nice. And she even had all these friends to sit with and talk...It really was the best night of the year.

"So what are your plans for the night?" She asked Chase. "I suppose you'll be flying back to your mate before long. How about you, Liam?" She scooted his way. "Got yourself a girl yet?"

Liam scooted over for Thorn as the fledgling flapped over to their branch. "Thorn, this is Chase and Bracken."

Thorn bowed low. "Nice to meet you! My name is Thorn." He twisted his back. "Liam, I invited another fledgling over, one I met. Her name is Lore. She's a Mist." A small sobbing noise caught his attention. Roth was sitting on another branch, miserably drooping and pulling the petals off of a blossom. "She loves me, she loves me not... she loves me... she loves me not?" "What happened to Roth?"

Odd finally managed to find a place near Citrine, her young charge, and Runewing.

He lowered his eartufts near to his head and listened to the conversation quietly. He found it rude to interrupt and, not to mention, Mystics did make him slightly uneasy sometimes. They are part of the clan and he trusts them, but at the same time they baffle him.

Spotting the distressed Skurri, Hazel fluttered over to his branch, tugging him against her side. "You okay Roth?"

Roth said nothing, but jumped atop Hazel's head, curled up, and started purring.

Chase was happy that none of his friends asked him to finish his last sentence. It was not the time to discuss what might be approaching the Sentinels’ borders. And, Hazel! Wasn’t she a witty one? It was an image to remember, that look on her face as she covered poor Bracken’s eyes. And speaking of poor things, that pitiable look Roth had on his tiny face… Chase felt like hopping to him to cheer him up.
Instead, he listened closely to Hazel as she spoke of the Ranger profession. It was nice to hear her perspective. And then she asked of his plans and… mate? He was slightly taken aback but did his best not to show it.
“Oh, no mate waiting for me I’m afraid! I’m just hoping to spend as much time as possible with some old friends…” he paused and smiled at her, shifting his talons “…and some new ones, too!”
He still felt a bit embarrassed by her question. Luckily, Thorn appeared.
“The pleasure is mine, young Sentinel.” Chase replied, bowing his head to the little fledgling.
When he turned to Hazel again, she was already near little heartbroken Skurri. The companion was strangely adorable.
Chase looked at the Gatherers below. Slightly hungry, he was…

Bracken found his view of the others hidden by a wing. "It wasn't the Brigadier, it was just as big as him," Bracken muttered, sulkily, "And I didn't make it up..."

He brightened considerably when Thorn arrived, "Nice to meet you, as well, Thorn!" he said, excited in the hopes of having someone to tell his story to, only to droop down once the fledgling turned his attention to Roth.
