OOC sad Sorry for being so slow.)

It was hard to think right, but even still- the grey winged one's plan seemed decent enough to try.
Sprinting over to the branch, as fast as she could (and knowing Tithe, it was pretty fast. Despite wind and rain), she jumped up in the air and tackled it, full impact. She felt the splinters go through her mangled fur and into her skin, but the last thing she needed was a dead friend. She fell to the ground and felt a sting and then a burn, in the side embossed by wood chips. To her suprise, the trunk moved considerably off of Dimi's upper body and was now more over her rump, Tithe had just rotated it outwards, but at least the full weight of the tree wasn't on Dimi. She should be much easier to pull out.

Inari grinned as he watched the Kuniku's combined efforts to save their friend. Luckily they seemed to be doing well without him, he couldn't move his paws from the sucking mud without fear of being blown away. He would have to remember to mention their bravery to the gods. That is, if they survived long enough.

"Hurry up and get Dimi out! We need to get to the caves, the storm might get worse once night falls!" He shouted over the howling winds. It was hard to imagine a storm any worse, but the sun, even when blocked out by clouds, inhibited the Oni Lord's power.

There was a sudden crack and thump as Tithe cem flying into the tree, then thumped to the ground. The tree rolled enough off of Dimi that she could breathe easy now. She clawed and swam with her paws now less sunk into the mud. She let go of Masao's hair and twisted her body in hte mud to put her own paws against the large tree. Push! I must push! With renewed confidance and energy Dimi braced her muscles againsts the tree. The very least this could do was cause her latter half to slip out form under the tree and the mud.
Thinking more clearly now, Dimi shouted to hte others nearby, "I think i can almost get out now! I just need a little help rolling the log away!"
It was difficult to hid the nervous excitement in Dimi's voice as she was near freedom from this harrowing experience.

Masao kept as still as stone until the others finally managed to budge the tree. When Dimi let go of his hair he gave a small sigh of relief and then looked for where he could be most helpful. Thank the gods, she was nearly out from under there. He glanced up for a moment. The angry, black clouds above seemed to be growing even heavier.

Giving a weary smile to Tithe for the good work she had done, he then threw his weight against the tree, attempting to roll the last bit off Dimi so she could get up.

Skimoyake had fallen into formation obediently as they started their journey to the caves. It didn’t take long though for the group to be halted by Dimi’s sudden disappearance. She came back with a small pink kuniku who was quite unusual- she had wings. He had always thought that only pups had wings but this female appeared to be full grown. Hers were also closer to butterfly wings, were pups had feathered. Burying the questions he wanted to ask her in the back of his mind they continued on inland. It didn’t take long for a feathery missile to fall in the midst of their group- disorienting them until it spoke. Yet another kuniku with strange attributes had joined them now.

Shimoyake was actually slightly glad that they were being interrupted as they were. It meant that there were less kuniku who were still stranded by the storm. Shaking his head again to remove his hair from his eyes he took in their bedraggled group. It was a sorry and yet heart warming sight; that so many could come together to help each other survive.

As if to test this thought, a sharp bolt of lightning came down and struck a nearby tree. The group scattered. Shimo himself had gotten quite far before slipping in the mud. Pulling himself out of the quicksand like ground- with some help from his ability- he tried heading back to were they had scattered. It took him a while, for the surrounds looked the same in the storm, but he found the fallen tree and several of the others. Confused by what they were doing, it soon dawned on him the situation when he got closer. Dimi was trapped under said tree and everyone was trying to help her out. They had seemed to get it mostly off of her, but it was still trapping her. Running up, he put all his weight into his thrust of the trunk close to her. It moved, but not by much. He backed up again for another assault on the object- not thinking of the pain currently running through his shoulder.

Saza continued her search for the others with Bijou, but stopped when she heard Dimi cry out that she was almost free. She turned and ran back toward the fallen tree that had taken Dimi captive so to speak. It seemed that in Saza's absence, the tree had been almost rolled completely off of Dimi. Dimi wasn't holding on to Masao's hair anymore, and some of the others had returned to try to free her.

If I were bigger, I would be able to help them. She thought, noticing that Tithe and Shimo had injured their shoulders by ramming the tree. Saza walked closer to the fallen tree, ready to help Dimi out once the tree was completely off of her, which would hopefully be soon.

Tithe was overjoyed as she saw how many kuniku were attempting to help Dimi out. That certainly made it easier. Masao's gentle smile helped her realize that maybe this storm was actually a mistake of the Oni King, as it seemed to make the bonds between all the kuniku on the island stronger. By now, she was next to Shimoyake, who's shoulder pain she could relate to, and still ramming the side of the tree. Tithe soon stopped doing this because of the shooting pain from her bleeding shoulder, and tried a less aggressive way of pushing the tree, more consistently.

Then Duh, she remembered she had another shoulder, although sore- her other side wasn't nearly as pain-laden. She kept on ramming, and with the help of Shimo, good progress was made, the tree was practically off Dimi.
So close.

Many of hte kuniku were regathering ot help Dimi out. She no longer felt helpless, but very relaxed. She knew that they would all get through this. There was no way that any of them were going to let any kuniku be lost in the storm. the tree was covering on hte very last bit of Dimi now that Shimoyake had joined in hte ramming. With a twist and a stretch, all the weight was off of her. Dimi was free from the tree, but still partially owned by the sucking mud. It kept her from leaping about and excitedly thanking everybody and instantly starting back on their journey ot the caves. Maybe that was a good thing since they all seemed to be well worn out, and some injured.
Quickley realizing how warm the mud actually was, Dimi used her power and created a little snow flurry around her. This added more water to the surrounding mud, making it more like dirty water.
Finally. Dimi was out. Now she felt almost weightless, like she could just jump and float away to hte sky.
Instead, Dimi chose to try and help pull some ofhte long wooden splinters out of Tithe's shoulder before they moved on towards the caves.

Masao felt the tree move beneath the combined weight of the Kuniku. Dimi should be able to get free now. He trudged away from the sticky mud, feeling utterly exhausted. But there was no time for rest; he had to lead them towards the caves. Well, Dimi was out now.

Lifting his head, Masao looked around, searching for the figures of the others. They were mostly milling about, still rather confused by the whole fiasco. “Let’s go!” He shouted to get their attention.

He began to move in the direction the caves were in, going slowly at first and looking over his shoulder at the others every few steps. They couldn’t afford to rest, the storm was too much of a danger.

Emil continued to push the tree in the direction of the forces the others were exerting. The stars in front of his eyes were not so painful now and only resembled a normal retina burn. He pushed his back very hard against the rough bark, trying to free Dimi. Suddenly, there was a great shove as the others used the branch for leverage, and the tree was upheaved a bit. As it flipped over, Emil felt one of the jagged edged of the bark cut a slice across his back. A few drops of blood flowed out of his wounds. With a wince, he backed off and watched as Dimi squeezed out from under the tree.

With a smile, Emil tilted his head toward the caves, indicating that they should all follow Masao. He turned and also walked with the kuniku heading back.

Ori sighed with both physical and mental relief as the tree finally rolled off the green one, putting a paw up to massage his sore shoulder - before being blown off course again by the howling winds. Snapping his wings back tight to his back, Ori set off after the others, misted eyes dimly seeing the caves in the distance. It seemed a long way down... and his wings couldn't save him if he fell now...

A small sigh of relief escaped Saza's muzzle as Dimi crawled out from beneath the fallen tree. She's safe... Although she hardly knew anything about Dimi, or any of the others for that matter, she was very glad that the older female was alright. Saza then looked at the injured who had assisted in returning freedom to Dimi and mentally thanked them, too shy to say the words aloud.

Saza then nodded as Masao called out that they needed to continue through the storm toward the caves. She hoped that nothing else would delay the group of kuniku from getting to shelter; with injured members the group now had another new problem, although Saza prayed that Tithe, Orion, Shimo, and Emil were not too badly hurt. If anything else that's bad happens, at least we'll help each other through. Saza thought, already starting to like the strangers who didn't really feel so strange anymore.

It took at least another half hour of hard walking through mud and rain before they reached the cave. The ground had become rockier and more elevated as the moved along, causing little streams to be created which made it more difficult to navigate. It was slow going. Masao was constantly stopping to make sure everyone was still together, especially the smallest members to the group.

A stand of pines marked the entrance the cave. Masao led them all beneath the tall trees and off to the side where there was a crack in the face of a small cliff. Lightning spiked across the sky and hail came down with the rain. “It’s here."

A narrow passage opened up into a cavern that could comfortably hold them all. It was pitch black inside and Masao stumbled on a rock as he entered the wider space. “Careful.” He called back and then made his way over to the far wall. Hopefully the little white creature could make some light.

Emil followed Masao into the caves, trying to seem strong and confident. The cut on his back still stung, but when he concentrated hard on other things, he barely thought of it.

The cave was dank and damp and uncomfortable in too many ways to count, but at least it was safe for the moment. Emil settled himself against the wall to make way for the others coming through.

"We're all safe, right? Inari, maybe now you can tell us what you were going to say before."

Tithe was quite relieved that they had finally reached the cave, and limped there accordingly. The large stiff splinters were loged deeper than she thought, but were easy to grab and pull out. And winced as a narrow stream of blood gently trickled from each indentation in her flesh. Really helping to muddy-up her already matted fur. The blood didn't continue flowing after a few minutes, and Tithe felt the pain no more.

She wasn't really sure what happened in the last few hours, but she was glad everyone was safe. It seemed like the longest few-yards of her life.

Tithe collapsed on the cold floor and nuzzled up near the feet of whoever was closest to her, which happened to be Emil.
She was so tired, mentally and physically.
She just wanted to sleep. Whatever the little fox had to say could wait.
After all, what did it matter when Tithe was virtually useless now anyway?

The subtle warmth emiting from Emil's fur helped her fall into quite a deep sleep. After all, she was now as close as one kuniku can physically get to another, and the thought itself seemed so soft, so gentle, so..warm.

Something that she hadn't felt like she had in forever, since this storm was like an eternity.
