"If I get chosen yes I'm going to try standing..there been rumors not many of the people are happy with the change of leaders. Earlier I saw the old one circling the wery bowl he seemed upset both him and the dragon." Kahlin sigh looking at R'ael. "I don't know how this is going to effect it but I don't think it is good." He brushed his hand over the tree finding the mark and grinned. "This way!" He said going deep into the lush forest.

"I was afraid you'd say that about the flight..." he grimaces slightly, though it's hard to stay in a bad mood at the moment. The possible trouble of the new Weyrleader is a distant cloud on the horizon that he doesn't yet have to sail through. "Glad you know where you're going..." he chuckles, pushing through after Kahlin. His own stocky square frame makes his travel a bit slower than his companion, but on the other hand it does help trample a path for Jaiereth, though Rikk hisses indignatly when he's nearly hit by a branch or two. "I don't think I asked before, were you born here at the Weyr?"

"No..father and I are just visiting for the hatching and it ended up longer." Kahlin said voice holding a strange tone on the word father almost fear. He found the last mark on the tree walking into a small clearing with a small stream. "Here we are pretty isn't it."

Sonia chittered at the bronze her multifacelet eyes whirling in laughter.
PostPosted: Mon Dec 26, 2005 3:58 pm

Rikk Chittered in response to the green, taking flight abruptly to whirl and dip over the surface of the stream, showing off shamelessly, only to spin away with an irritated cry as Jaiereth boldly thuds his way over to splash into the shallows of the water, raising a spray with his wings and looking pleased.

"It's absoloutely beautiful." He agrees, grinning, though he can't help but catch the faint tremor of fear in Kahlin's voice. He hangs the food for Jaireth on a branch, to keep it out of the way, and where he can see if it Flits try and get into it, and puts the bundle of meat pies down, untying it and offering one over to Kahlin, as though the cooled pie could sooth the wounds this unknown man had left. "Here, It's not exactly warm anymore but should still be good." he wants to say something to encourage the younger man to open up and give him something to work with, but he doesn't know what. "You know if we set up some rocks we could make a swim hole back here, separate from the one in the weyr bowl." He says thoughtfuly, indicating with one hand. "That'd be something. We built one once when I was a boy...then we ducked G'dor in it. Course I was a bit of an absoloute b*****d to him then...I think he'd probably be more of one to me now if he didn't think I could fold him in half."

Sonia eyes whirled in laughter as she left Kahlin shoulder wing dipped into the water and spun splattering drop of water.

Kahlin smiled sitting down by his favorite tree reaching up pulling down a pair of fruit. "These are good." He looked up at R'ael taking the pie carefully."Thank you."He said smiling at R'ael. "A swiming hole? That would be great. I used to swim with mom when I was little.." He trailed of sighing.

(( sorry, I had computer issues, and just honestly got caught up with things else where crying Ok..so.. >.> <.< should we say Ta'lare left and came back? She did have a flit egg to take care of.. so she could perhaps come back with her new lil flit? ))

Talare sighed as she walked back up to the small gathering of people and dragons. She'd felt bad she had to take off so suddenly before, but the reward had been the new little green flit that was happily resting around her neck. She bit her lip as she rounded the corner and hailed the group. "I do Appologies for my sudden depature! I had something to take care of." and with a laugh the harper gestured to the sleeping flit.

Her blue eyes Scanned around the area and she noticed a few more people had gathered here in her absence. Never one to be bashful she waved to each and held out her hand. "Greetings! Im Talare." She grined, a sparkle in her eyes today, even though Kamui was proving to be a handful, she was going to be a good compainon. Her finger tips lightly brushed against the flits tail, which earned her a pointed sleeping head to the neck. Obviously the little one didnt want to be awoken.

((ooc: are you with us, Shariea? Or with the last group that was posting in here? R'ael and Kahlin are kind of off the beaten path, so I just wanna know if I need to tweak this or not since apparently we were posting at the same time. sweatdrop ))

R'ael chuckled, watching the flits dive and dip as Rikk circles back around to loop past the smaller, more agile green. Sonia may be the more flexable of the two but Rikk is certainly not above showing off his own prowess, dipping down to scoop up pebbles and drop them into a pile, a trick he was taught early on by R'ael, as part of training him to retreive things.

Jaereth flares his wings contentedly, soaking in the pool and the filtered sunshine, entertained by the flits.
A swiming hole would be very nice, mine...though it might become a bit small in time. Then it would need improveing upon.
True enough...but you're not grown yet...we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

He sits down himself, folding his legs underneath him as he breaks the other meat pie in half, watching the dragons and the flit thoughtfuly. "I always liked swiming. 'S the one thing I've been able to do thus far that doesn't make me feel like a herdbeast trying to line dance. I always figured it had to be a little like flying..." He trails off with a shrug. "I take it you don't do that so often any more?" He inquires, biting off a piece of his meal thoughtfuly, and then adding, covering his mouth with one hand. "We can work on it over lunch. Or I can. A little extra exercise shouldn't do much harm. Just need something to dig with, andsome stones to help block it up. Maybe sand for the bottom if we get really flashy with it...at the risk of it not being terribly private if someone figures it out.

Why does he sigh like that? Is he sad? The Blue raised his head curiously, making a soft sound of consern. Like his master he has a certain freindly affection for Kahlin, finding him much quieter, pleasenter company than some of the other few people he's met at the weyr thus far.
I don't know yet...I don't want to ask him outright...it might be too pushy.
This brings to mind an mental image of younger R'ael ducking his adopted brother, the white haired G'dor, in a stream...and a chuckle from Jaireth, making a play on the literal aspect of his bondeds words.
Not pushy like that...you clown...He resists the urge to smile as best he can, glancing toward the blue and raising an eyebrow slightly, token to their unspoken conversation. He's going to think I'm -really- rude at this rate you know...
Not if you ask him my questions for me.The blue notes, flapping his wings again and sending a spray of water onto the bank.
"Sorry..." He ducks his head at the wayward spray. "Jaiereth was complainging about the size of the swimming hole I had in mind....he wants it to be 'improved on' when he gets bigger...He...mm...Never mind." He guiltily starts, then stops on the dragons question, though it hangs unspoken in the air, and earns another flap from Jaiereth, who now seems to have shifted to attempt to target the two with his splashing.

"No not so often anymore." Kahlin said softly watching Sonia and Rikk show off their prowess the little green flit suddenly darting at Jaiereth landing on his tail making little chirring sounds eyes whirling as she worked on getting him to play.

Kahlin bit into the pie looking at the stream nodding. "That would be niced R'ael." He said smiling truely so it touched his purple blue eyes. "Hmm well tell Jaiereth when he gets biger he can make his own swiming hole." He laughed as the water splashed at them from the blue water soaking his white shirt forgeting that white became transulanted and the large muticolor bruise wrapping around his side.

(I was hoping Shariea would come back... but I give up. xD And I've changed Feronamth's color of text so that it is easier to distinguish from black.)

Sisao hopped onto Kyira's lap at the healer's coaxing. Nuzzling up to Fellis, then using the closeness to playfull push on the other lizard.

I am two of Moth he commented to his rider, or perhaps three, she is a nice sized green.

C'tari laughed and related his comment about size to the healer. You fancy the green? He asked privately.

but Feronamth snorted non-commitally trying once again to coax his bonded into using the oil covered brush on his skin.

I have tried to get her to do many things. Some more successful than others. It helps to have Feronamth to tell her what to do if I can't seem to get it accros to her. He never has any problems. He smiled again pushing an errant lock of hair off his forehead the sly look cunningly hidden behind a very real smile, I could always use help oiling Feronamth, but I can't garuntee you won't ruin your dress.

((NP to me, Ryugen. We're still here, Shariea. Let's tie this up so the timeline isn't too convoluted. okay?))

--at least a week before 2nd flight--

Fellis squawked indignately as Sisao shoved her, until realizing it was play. When that became clear she worked at figuring out this new "game" by shoving back. Game or no game, she was getting oiled!

Laughing at the firelizards in her lap while trying to get them oiled at the sme time, she could only smile broader as the bronze rider relayed the size of his bond in comparrison to Moth. So her memory of the Green had not been too far off in comparison. She still had so much to learn. The journeywoman wondered how much of the dragon healing she had read in the books left in the healer barracks she would be expected to perform when the weyr next flew thread. Kyira hoped she would be up to the task.

She nodded absntly as he talked of Sisao's 'training', seeing how having a dragon readily there to mindspeak would be an advantage. Kyira was both sad & glad that she did not, nor would not, impress a dragon. She was not sure she would be able to remain a healer & practice her music if a dragon was in her life. Still, the thought of a dragon bond intrigued her as it did so many of Pern's youth.

Nothing about C'tari seemed sly to the easily naive young woman. It was good he had brushed aside that errant hair, for she was resisting th eimpulse to move it for him. "What? Get these ruined?" She gestured at her healer's garb with a rueful mock-frown. Already from the firelizards' antics the oil was making dark spots against the light fabric. With a childish wink she looked him in the eye. "These see worse when I'm working, believe me. It's not as if I'm in my gather best!"

Giggling she finished oiling the tiny greens. Fellis vocalized a minor protest, then took off for a good place to sun still in view of the action. "Just tell me what to do... I'm a quick learn!"

((meh. I wish I could remember better how the healer-garb was described in the books. If it was described...))

((No worries, just double checking. heart ))

"Jaiereth says he'll consider it if he can't talk us into it first..." R'ael grins as the blue turns around wide eyed to stare at the most impertinant firelizard on his tail, then swish his tail around in an mocking attempt to dislodge the little creature...but not too hard. It is a game afterall, though he humms with consern at the forming bruise on Kahlin's ribs. Humans weren't supposed to come in shades quite -that- interesting. Generaly speaking blue was reserved for dragons...
"But first there's a question of what hit you...." He scowls, leaning slightly to peer more intently at the vivid mark. "What did you do?" The bredth and color of the mark conserns him, giving rise to the posibility of a broken rib or some similar harm. The first thought that occurs to him isn't that it might be this dark phantom of the boy's father, but that it might be his fault for causing him to dive into the bushes, an thought which springs instantly to a pang of guilt.

"What brui.." He stopped looking at his shirt shrinking back white shirt got wet not the best combaination. "It's not your fault I had that one for a while." He said eyes closing shrinking back. "Not your fault." The boy shivered curling up as if to protected himself from some unseen harm.

Sonia stayed lodged on the blue wings flapping as she was swished thinking it was all the greatest game ever played. She gave a strange sound of concern flying over to Kahlin nudging him with her small head.

"Have you had it looked at? That looks serious..." He presses, brows furrowed in consern. He hates to press issues where it's obviously not wanted for him to do so, but in this case he feels the exception needs to be made. He reaches out cautiously to put a hand on the boys shoulder, as though he could stop him from withdrawing further into himself by a light touch with a work roughened hand.
"Look I know it's probably none of my business but thats a hell of a bruise...." The blue stops sweeping his tail and plods out onto the bank, eyes whirling in consern nudging Kahlin's hand with an heavy muzzle, much like the tiny green.
That looks like it hurts...
I'm sure it does...but I don't know what to do about it. I'm not a healer, and I don't know who did it...
Kahlin's behavior makes him fairly certain that it was a 'who'...at least he finds it hard to picture this sort of withdrawing over an accident...
PostPosted: Tue Dec 27, 2005 7:18 am

Kahlin shook his head tears leaking out of tightly closed eyes. "I..I can't he..he said he h..hurt mother.." He trailed off hiccuping and hugged the little blue burrying his face into the creatures hide for support and comfort like so many creatures on the farm had gave before.
Sonia hide herself in the honey color hair chirping soothing by Kahlin ear. She knew something was wrong just not to do about it.

The Blue nuzzles closer, his head a heavy solid presense, like R'aels arms as he rocks forward on his knees to gently put his arms around the boy and try and soothe him. While the gesture is gentle, his eyes flicker with the rising burn of anger, like finding coals in the ashes still hot enough to burn, and hot enough to spring to flame with proper fuel.
"Who did?" He asks, quietly, his voice gentle and soft though there's an undercurrent of stone to it. "Your father?"
A little childish bullying and teasing is one thing...children will be children...and sometimes they're right bastards about this...but this is father to child...this is something else entirely.
