Smiling as Amuriel liked the location, Maelthra tucked his wings back at his side before tilting his head slightly at her comment dealing with them. Having heard otherwise most of the time, he wasn't entirely sure if it was really true. He was fairly certain that she felt that way, but he just wasn't so sure for a more general opinion.

"Thanks.. but are you sure about that? My wings have gotten me quite a bit of unwanted attention in the past..." he said with a little bit of speculation, "But I'm glad that someone feels differently about them..."

Looking over his shoulder to glance at his wings, he just tilted his head slightly with a bit of curiosity.

"But I have to wonder how my parents looked... if I were born with these..."

"I'm very sure. I try very hard not to lie.."

Amuriel watched him glance over her shoulder, and she frowned. She didn't think he believed her, but she realized she must be patient. From the sounds of things, he had been persecuted quite a bit during his life because of his wings, and after all, he didn't know her very well just yet.

"I'm sure your parents looked as you do... but.. would it matter if they looked any differently?" she asked. "Your parents are your parents, no matter how they looked.. and appearances aren't everything, you know..."

Nodding lightly, Maelthra thought about how his parents may have been like but he still couldn't really come up with anything. Though he supposed that how they look didn't matter so much now. For if they had abandoned him or if something else happened, they were well out of his life.

"Yeah that's true... '

Turning his attention back to the waterfall cave and to Amuriel as well, he just smiled lightly at her.

"But in any case, thanks. Like I said, it's nice to know that someone really feels differently about me for once.."

Amuriel curled her lips back in a smile and chuckled lightly, "You're welcome. Like I said, I try very hard not to lie."

She watched him and preened at her claws, wondering exactly what it felt like to fly. She still believed it must feel amazing, and she allowed herself to daydream momentarily. Shaking her head, she looked back to him and then turned her head back to the depths of the cave.

"We need to get this place looking a little.. homely.. don't you think? What do you suggest we do?"

Smiling and chuckling softly as well, Maelthra nodded with his response, "Yeah.. same here really."

Thinking to himself for a bit, he realized that he felt a little hungry as he hadn't really eaten anything at all that night. But he wanted to help get their new home set up before going out for a hunt since the latter may take a little while just to find food.

"Hm... well we'll need some bedding and such.. And probably clear away the foliage that's kinda blocking the entrance a little. Maybe clear out the inside a bit like push any rocks aside and whatnot.. I can easily take care of the plants... what would you like to do?"

Amuriel thought of the things she could do, and finally responded, "Can you really do the brush that easily? If you can... maybe you could push aside the the rocks and things on the inside while I gather and make us some bedding?" She thought for a moment and shifted. "Would you rather have two smaller beds, or one larger one..? A larger one would be easier to make and take up less cavespace.. but two smaller ones would give us more privacy if you wanted.."

She looked up at him, trying to think of what she would rather have herself. She didn't think sharing a simple pallet would be too bad, but it did offer much more for rumormongering and would be less desirable for easily flustered or embarrassed dragonfly.

Nodding with a bit of a grin, Maelthra stared at the plants while thinking of how he should dispose of them exactly. He could either try incinerating all of them or shift forms to hack away at them with his blade. Since he didn't feel like shifting forms again at the moment, he figured he could just try and burning it with his powers.

"Yeah it's no problem. And hm..?"

Tilting his head at the question, he just thought about it for a moment. And he really wasn't too sure which of the two he would prefer. Both options had their own pros and cons, so he just decided to leave it up to Amuriel.

"Hm... either way is fine. But... I do like the idea of more cavespace since I don't really want to have to tramp all over the bedding when I'm walking through or around or whatever in there..."

Amuriel laughed, "We wouldn't have that much bedding, even with two, but I think one bed would be enough for both of us, and in the winter, we could stay warmer easier."

She pushed her head past the water fall, blinking to clear the water from her eyes as she looked around. "I think I see some things over there I can gather for our bedding. Soft grasses and things that maybe I can fashion together..."

Pulling her head back in the cave, she shook herself and looked over at him. Sharing a cave with him, she thought, would be very interesting. It was nice to be able to talk with someone and have someone around, and with a start, she realized that this evening had been the most she had spoken or been around someone in many years.

Clearing her head, she continued, "I think that I'll try to start on that... so could you get ready for when I come back in with the bed?"

Nodding once again, Maelthra stared at the random bits of weed and other plants that disrupted their path to the cavern to some extent. Aside from that he figured it would look nicer in general to not have a mass of tangled plants around.

"Sure no problem. I'll do my best in getting everything cleaned up by the time you return. Hopefully all of this won't take too long because I'm actually getting kinda hungry right now... so once we're finished here I'll probably need to go hunt."

Stretching out, he just grinned since he would soon be able to work with his powers for something more practical instead of waving flames around to train. So he moved a little closer towards the plants and waited for Amuriel to be a good distance away from the leafy materials since there was still the chance that his powers would fly out of control.

And he really didn't want to end up setting his new friend on fire.

Blinking, Amuriel realizing she too was hungry. It had been a while since she had eaten, but she had forgotten about it since she had met someone new. Now that they were settling down and he mentioned it, her hunger began to return.

"I wouldn't mind something to eat in a little while either..." she replied, "but I'll go ahead and prepare the beds now."

Smiling, she stretched lightly and headed out through the waterfall and toward the materials she had seen a little while previously. She then began to gather up some supplies to try to make them as soft a bed as possible.

Smiling toothily, Maelthra turned his attention back to his current target while beginning to focus his powers. Before long, a large fireball appeared before him, but he wasn't quite ready to strike the plants down yet. Since he needed to make sure he stayed in control, he took things slowly, concentrating on keeping the flames under his power.

With time the fireball grew, and a few moments later he launched it into the bush, expanding the flames to envelope all the foliage that was at the entrance to begin burning them all down. The elder focused on keeping the fire concentrated in that one spot, not allowing it to wander off to different places, and making sure that they would burn what was there already.

Due to being so close to the waterfall, it took some time to get them to burn, but with the fire in his control he managed to reduce the weeds to ash eventually.

"Phew... Didn't lose it that time..." he said to himself while feeling rather proud.

And with that task done, he went on into the cavern to begin cleaning up the space inside.

Amuriel managed to gather a goodly supply of materials and stared down at the heap of soft grasses, straw, and branches before her. She had a design in mind to keep it all together, using the branches as support and the straw to weave a mat on either side to contain the soft grass within, but the work was not something an elder's claws or fangs would really help with.

Quickly, she shifted forms, shivering from the chill, and began to build the supports in a large, rectangular shape. Carefully, she began to weave the first mat against the supports, then piled the soft filling inside. As she was weaving the second mat, a piece of straw slashed against her arm, gashing it minorly, and she winced. It wasn't a large wound at all, just a cut, but it bothered her. She licked it and whimpered quietly before quickly finishing out the second mat and stepping back to examine her work.

"It'll do," she mumbled, staring down at the rectangular form below her. It was plenty large enough to accommodate them both, but it wouldn't take up too much cave space. She tried to drag the bed toward the entrance to the cave, but found it too heavy in her elven form. Transforming again, she took a corner in her teeth and began dragging it back to their new home.

Peering around the interior of the cave momentarily, Maelthra began by kicking aside the little rocks that were strewn about the ground. Perhaps they could be of some use later on, so he just lined them up along the walls for now. Once he finished with that, he used his tail to sweep aside loose dirt and smaller pebbles so that their cavern floor would seem a little cleaner. For these, he just knocked them outside either into the water or just out into the area just out of the entrance.

With that done, he worked with the rocks once more, making sure that they weren't piled up too much or anything like that.

I think my work here is done... I wonder how Amuriel is doing with the bedding stuff...

Tilting his head to the side as he thought, he just shrugged to himself before stepping outside to wait for her to return. And as he did, he was able to see her a little ways and she seemed to be dragging something across the ground.

"Need some help?"
PostPosted: Fri Dec 14, 2007 9:42 pm

"A little.. help wouldn't.. hurt.." she huffed, starting to feel some exertion from pulling the heavy bed. She stopped for a moment and waited for him to come over to her. She glanced over the entrance to the cave and noticed with a smile that the weeds and brush were now gone. That would help when they were trying to finish lugging the bed inside.

"How did the cleaning go?" she asked him, leaning down to lick her arm as it twitched.

With a smile, Maelthra trotted over towards the bed and examined it momentarily before speaking up or doing anything else.

"It looks nice! And the cleaning went pretty well," he commented as he looked towards her, tilting his head as she licked her arm. Looking a little closer, he saw a small wound there, much to his alarm. He wasn't sure how she had gotten hurt, but as small as the cut was, he didn't think it was a good idea for her to be lugging the heavy bed around since she could make the wound worse.

"You're hurt... Here let me finish bringing this back in then we'll see to treating that cut ok?"

After saying this he went ahead and bent down to grab hold of the bedding to begin dragging it back towards the cave.
