...Okay, so it was much sooner than I thought. ^_^;; (Oh, and for future reference, I switched her name back to Melinda. I don't know why I decided to change it to Melanie in the first place.)
Chapter Eight
The knowledge that he had disarmed me so quickly and so forcefully was unnerving. The slight pain of the hot coffee cup brought me back down to earth, and I looked down quickly, shifting my fingers to avoid the heat. I looked at the writing on the side of the cup; caramel macchiato- my favorite. I looked back up at Gerard and he was smiling hesitantly at me over the rim of his cup. I hesitated before I spoke. “Look, Gerard,” I began, and cleared my throat. “I’m not...I’m not sure what your intentions are, but I’m not exactly looking for anything...special.” My voice cracked and I cleared my throat. Gerard’s look of almost childish confusion was startling. I had to look away before I could speak again. “I mean I just met you!” I laughed nervously, running my hand through my hair. My fingers caught at the bobby pin, letting the lock of green hair loose. Gerard frowned and caught the bobby pin between two fingers before it could fall to the ground. Then with an unexpectedly quick and gentle movement, he tucked the pin back in my hair, once again hiding the green coloring. “The thing about finding something special,” he said, taking a sip of his coffee, “is that it seems to find you. Not the other way around. It wouldn’t matter if you ran, jumped, skipped, and went into the witness protection program. If it wants you, ‘something special’ will find you.” He gave me a crooked smile. “Life’s a b***h, isn’t it?”
Yep, I know, not a lot, but it's three in the morning and I'm ready to go to bed.
Comment if you're still reading. ^_^;

YES! POST! I LIKE READING THESE FANFICS! I have one too...It's titled The Red Ones Make Me Fly. Please read it. I'll love you lots if you do!
And yes, life is a b***h. Especially when you have to analyze readings from an anthology every afternoon for your philosophy class and do a Summary Report after every textbook chapter you read...At least Tai Chi afterwards is a good calm down before beginning German.
