The Goddess of Earth Vice Captain

Sorry this took so long, I'm in college and I live in an apartment with three other women, so it's hard to find time and a quiet space, but right now I'm being a sneaky sneaky ninja ! =D
Lesson Three:
Your question: I asked about my career.
Card One: 8 of Wands. I see this card as a leap, energy, and transformation. Card Two: 10 of Pentacles. To me, this card means wealth, joy, family, and celebration. Card Three: The Hermit. He represents solitude, enlightenment, and a personal journey. Card Four: Knave of Swords. Vigilance and attention. Card Five: 8 of Swords. Entrapment, difficulty, inability to make decisions, and a lack of concentration. Card Six: Queen of Pentacles. This card tells me that I need to embrace magnificence and my maternal side, but also be balanced and practical. Card Seven: 7 of Swords. Indecisiveness and turning to the mind. Card Eight: Temperance. Harmony, acceptance, union, healing, and peace. Card Nine: The Star. Hope, joy, beauty, serenity, love, and purpose. Card Ten: 10 of Wands. I see this card as representing both a heavy weight, and a large prize.
Did these cards relate to one-another? How? I feel that there is a connection, but I'm having trouble seeing it at the moment. I'll post an edit when I figure it out. Also, I think it's interesting that no cards from the Chalices suit were drawn.
Was there a card or combination of cards that struck you on a personal level? All of the cards struck me on a very personal level. Now that I've had a chance to really think about what they're telling me, it all seems so obvious, well, except for the 10th card blaugh
Did you gain insight on your question? I didn't gain insight so much on my question as I did on card 1, the obstacle card. As the Hermit card is saying, I'm on this journey in search of personal enlightenment; however, I can't reach that goal until I go through a transformation. It's scary, but the cards are telling me that it will be a time of celebration and joy, so I'm not so worried anymore. heart
If you came to a conclusion after your reading or after further meditation, what was it? If not, do you plan on pursuing your question more? As I said before, I need to go through a transformation to get anywhere; also, I need to release my inability to make decisions and my lack of concentration because they are keeping me from moving forward with my career. In the end, I'll carry a large burden, but I'll look at it with joy, love, and hope, so it will all be worth it.
Lesson Four
Card: The Moon Meaning: Mystery, emotions and instinct, illusions, dreams. Reversed Meaning: Deception, not dealing with reality, hidden forces, sometimes trickery.
Card of the Day
Card: The Lovers Meaning: Deep caring and emotions. A balance through compatibility. Reversed Meaning: Confinement, frustration. Loss of individuality. How it relates to me: This is a tough one. I would say this relates to me because I am terrified of relationships. I'm afraid of really caring for someone because I'm scared that I may lose myself and my precious freedom.

That's fine, people have busy lives. I don't expect everyone to get all of the work done (especially if it's makeup work like you and Choir-Angel) in like a day... Haha, that'd be ridiculous... XD
Anyway, new lesson... If you call this a lesson... Lesson Six: Conclusion of Tarot
So this lesson doesn't have any homework. (I know, you're like YES! XD) Anyway, this segment will be briefly listing some common (traditionally based, not like... specialized decks for like animals or dreams or whatever...) decks and their uses/specialties. Then, something special just for you!
So! Decks... Let's get started... decks...
Rider-Waite: Most widely recognized, good for things of a mystical nature. Universal Waite: Reads like Rider-Waite, but with softer, more attractive images. Thoth: This has 80 cards, and is different from Rider-Waite some previous knowledge is recommended. Alchemical Tarot: New, but not untraditional. Explains "the beliefs of the elixirs that make up the substance of life." Contains 79 cards Tarot of the Color: Not as well known. Each card has a color, esoteric title, astrological attribution, elemental attribution and much more. Contains 78 cards. Golden Tarot: Modern medieval artwork in a deck recommended for scholars. Voyager Tarot: Symbolism that reflects our present day circumstances. Intended to be used for self-empowerment and self-awareness.
Of course, this list is extremely short because there's far too many different decks to list. I'd be going on for... days... Your heads would all explode. This isn't homework, but IF YOU LIKE, you may share a deck that you yourself like. What does it focus on? What do you like about it? What don't you really like about it? (Like I said, this is optional.)
I told you I would add something special for you this lesson, didn't I? Well, I've been listening to this podcast that focuses on using tarot for things other than divination. While this is a divination-specific class, I won't be listing or discussing these uses here. But! You can find out about all these fun, wonderful uses by going to the Tarot Connection website. This site also has a link to Leisa ReFalo's online store where you can find many selections of books, decks, and anything else. It also has a link to download the podcast that I'm now basically obsessed with.
So that's this lesson. Have fun exploring, and that concludes our lessons on tarot! Next up is runes, naturally! XD

I loved working with the tarot, it was more fun because I actually had my own set of tarot cards. But now that we're getting into the runes, I don't think i'll be as good at it. Especially because they're a lot more complex...(to me at least)

You may both join. (That felt way too formal... =P)
And a significator is basically a card that represents the questioner or has a special significance in that reading. It can be set aside, kept in the deck (in which case, it has significance if it shows up in the spread) or some people don't even use one at all. There are many methods to choosing a significator for a person, so choose one that you like. (For instance, if you're not that into astrology, then the Zodiac method may not be your best choice.)
Wait, did you say ANYTHING else I want? COOKEEEEHHHHZZZZZ! lol

Ooh, cookies! OOH! Runes!!! Lesson [7] Introduction to Runes:So, since this is just the intro, I'm going to make it as short and painless as it can possibly be while still containing the vital information. And no homework. Yippee! Runes are a Germanic alphabet used in northern Europe from around 100 B.C/B.C.E. to 1600 A.D/C.E. for writing, divination, and spellwork. They have also been found in North America, verifying that vikings traveled there before Columbus. When used for divination (that's what we'll be doing, no surprise there...) they work best when a specific question is asked. The answers may turn out to be very broad or vague, and interpretations are left up to the caster. They are used to seek advice on a current situation, and details of the circumstances should be given. Like tarot, they only tell one out of the many possible futures, since the future changes for each individual based on their actions. Each rune has a meaning behind it, as well as a story and a relationship to a Norse god. To understand this, one must take a look at the Norse myth of how runes were given to man. Norse Myth of Runes Odin, the Norse High God of the Aesir, hung from the world tree, Yggdrasil, impaled on his own spear, for nine days and nights in order to gain the knowledge of runes. When the runes appeared below him, he reached down and took them up, and the runic knowledge gave him power . He later passed on this knowledge to the Vanir goddess Freya. She, in turn, taught him the magic of seidr. Heimdall, the god who guarded the Rainbow Bridge, taught the runes to mankind. The most common set of runes is the Old Germanic Elder Futhark, with 24 symbols. There is a controversy as to whether or not there is a "blank rune" or "Odin's Rune", which contains no symbol. Personally, I have blank stones ready in case I loose one of my runes, but a blank symbol contradicts itself, so I don't use it. When used in writing, a space between words is demonstrated by a dot (.) or two dots ( : ) or not at all, making the words all string together. That was longer than I meant for an intro to be, but so be it. Have fun with runes! Oh, before I forget... ****IMPORTANT NOTE**** I will be away from the 14th of May to the 18th! Anything posted will not be responded to until after that. The next lesson (On the Elder Futhark) should be up a little after I get back too. ****End IMPORTANT NOTE****

It's okay, I've been going through something similar. I'm extremely sorry that I vanished off the face of the earth for over a month... But look, I actually have the Elder Futhark up now! Lesson [8] Elder FutharkThe Elder Futhark is made up of 24 symbols that each have a name, phonetic value/corresponding English letters, and meaning. Here's a basic alphabet, although some of the symbols may differ between styles, similar to a dialect in any language. I won't be going into the meanings for all of these here, but there will be Rune of the Day, similar to the Card of the Day thing we did with tarot. During divinations, the stones (or whatever your runes are written on) are cast from a cloth bag. There are spreads that can be used, or one can just drop/scatter them on the floor and interpret the way they land. I will go over each spread, plus the scattering method in subsequent threads. Now, as for homework, I want everyone to come up with one question they have about runes, and I'll make a point to focus on those questions by making an answer section in each of the lessons. (I'll divide the questions up equally throughout the spreads, and I'll make sure to answer every question. What kind of teacher would I be if I didn't ? Haha...)
