Yaoi is sexy. Boys that are usually more effeminate than masculine, beautifully illustrated, sexy and tender and vulnerable (at least one side of the equation), just so pretty. Yuri is sexy. It is a different take on the traditionally represented lesbian relationship. The girls are both totally feminine and so they appeal to women and men alike. There is often a power struggle, where one girl is the aggressor, assertive and in-control, while the other is docile and submissive, if not a little unsure of herself. It is created with men in mind, so it's usually more centered on the physical sensations than the mental and emotional ones, but it's still sensitive and sweet enough to delight female audiences who find themselves attracted to such a thing.

I love both. I prefer yaoi just marginally because I'm more attracted to men than women, but I do very much enjoy both yaoi and yuri when they're done right. biggrin
