Wandering through the party, Jae happily noted the presence of one Ada Wong. Wait, that Ada looked kinda...familiar. Straining her memory, she thought back to the earlier that year, during the summer. Where had she seen that face before...?? Oh!! It was Alex!! She remembered the lady and her adorable little Gwee vividly in a flash!
Sauntering up to her fellow video game comrade, she leaned against the wall in a pose that almost made it look like she was hitting on her!
"Y'know, we vg-gals oughta stick together~" she said, with a playful wink in her eye.

She hadn’t realized the kitchen would be so…packed! So that explained where everyone was then. There must have been some rather delectable goodies if most the party-goers were congregating here. Of course Ebony wouldn’t get the chance to see for herself just yet as a ‘gangster’ nearly bumped heads with her. Her grey eyes had widened when he’d nearly fallen into her, but she had managed a simple side step to avoid any sort of collision. British laced words escaped her lips light and airy, ”Whoooa there mate! Haha, don’t look so terribly distressed about it. All’s fine. Really all my fault for being a black cat.” Well what do you know? Ebony could make a joke when she wanted to. Strange and sad she didn’t always try to make people see this more relaxed side of her more often.
This person was new, or at least new to her as she’d never seen him before. Course it could be argued that she was still new herself to this group. Still, he was kind of cute, but he would have to wait as someone else wanted her attention then. Ebony turned when she’d felt the nudge and was a bit surprised to see Isi standing there. At first she’d feared he’d ask what she was doing there as she’d already been there enough as it was, but soon found the youth was trying to apologize to her. She could see it took a lot of swallowing for him to admit to his bad mood and to try to make amends. In fact, she was slightly jealous as it was never so easy for herself to do and a lot of times she would in fact pretend it had not happened and just move on without discussing it.
Ebony shook her head, ”No Isikoro, I am sorry. I come into your home, your life somewhat unexpectedly and take up what precious free time your big brother has. Please know I don’t mean to. And if it seems I’m being rude or somewhat insensitive, it isn’t because I pity you or anything. It’s because I know you are strong and can do anything despite your condition. And I feel that you shouldn’t be left out of things or treated any different from others.” Whether her eyes were giving her away in the emotion department she wasn’t sure, but the catwoman now took her gaze away from the other in hopes that he too would not see the fear and anxiety that lie there. Thus she added a bit more meekly then, ”So…I was hoping that you could understood where I was coming from and could somehow give me another chance…rather than the other way around…”

Isi somewhat startled back as the cat woman turned to him and tried to utter an apology as well. In fact it kind of confused him. Wasn't he the one who snapped and turned an evil eye, not her? Isi had known that she was the one to breathe on the dying embers, but most of the harm was done by him, or so he thought. He was sensitive and certain phrases could tick him off. Unfortunately for Ebony, she had said one of them...Or a couple. Isi couldn't remember.
"I wasn't agitated because you taking time with my brother. In fact, it was good for him, good that he was being distracted. Any distraction around now would help..." Isi let his grey gaze drift across the room searching for the costume that was Aphismet. He felt his white painted face give a grimace of worry before he wiped it away. No one must see. Then he turned back and continued as he reached up to scratch the back of his neck, letting his crutch slip to the nook of his arm. The way she was trying to apologize agitated Isi again somewhat, but he blamed it on his own Don't-touch-the-red-button attitude. "I understand what you were trying to do, but you were doing it wrong. I can give you another chance. Next time, remember to think in the other's perspective. I think doing that would help a lot."

Alice smiled, raising a hand in a slight wave to accompany the reply that had been at his lips- and stopped again. Being that he was a complete stranger here- not to mention an univited guest- he felt it would be rude to pull her attention away from the other person whom she obviously knew.
Despite popular opinion, he wasn't utterly without any sense.

A small sigh and a rustling noise could be heard near the kitchen table as Mouse, unable to come up with any other solution, removed the cloak part of her costume and draped it on the back of a handy chair - hopefully she wouldn't get kicked out of the party for bending the costume rule a bit, but being headless made it a bit difficult to enjoy the refreshments! A hand habitually rushed up to smooth out the foliage on her head. That was a bit of a hopeless endeavor, as static electricity had frizzed it up beyond remorse.
At least this meant she could enjoy her iced tea, in any case. As Head-mitri continued to whine and fuss (what had gotten into him? The paint? No, he'd liked the idea before...) she surveyed her surroundings... gaze stopping at a man dressed up as a gangster. There was no way she would let this man go on without recieving some friendly compliments about his costume first. And so, grabbing the cloak off the chair (but not replacing it quite yet), she approached Alistair and craned up her neck a bit to talk to him, jokingly asking "So... are you in the business, or just a friend of the family?"

The blond paused when someone addressed him, turning to see the dark-clad woman and her very strange jack-o-kitty. Grinning, he tugged the brim of his hat down. "Ya mean the furniture business?" He asked, doing his best impression of a deep New York accent.
It was an obscure joke he expected an odd look for- not everyone, he wagered, had the same obsession with Al Capone.

Oh sweet goodness, could his companion get any clumsier? Bauta could not believe Alastair had almost knocked over some poor woman. He had absolutely no sense of decorum. They should have made the delivery and left quietly, but of course the candymaker had to attract attention. The harpy wondered if he could open the floor and sink into oblivion.
Bauta frowned, eyeing the door, considering an escape without his neighbor. Ah, no. Now he had attracted even more attention to himself and he was lying! "...you are a gangster, Alastair. Not a furnature maker."

She nodded, though silently she felt something of an urk by being reprimanded and lectured by someone younger. Though she had to chalk that up to her own pride issues and knew deep down that he was right. Ebony didn’t always interact well with others, that she knew and normally didn’t really care. But this was different. She genuinely liked Aphismet, and Isikoro was his brother. She wanted them to be friends or at the very least be able to co-exist without too much hard feelings between them. ”I promise I will do my very best to keep that in mind from now on.” In a good-natured way, Ebony twitched her nose to make those painted whiskers dance and smiled warmly towards the clown. ”And you know, I think you both need a good distraction. So this party is simply puuur-fect.” Ebony just couldn’t help herself tonight. There was something about being around others, having fun, dressing up…it made her feel like a kid again and she desperately hoped to somehow make some of it to rub off on Isi. Maybe if he was feeling better, even a little bit, then there was hope for Aphi too.

The horseman's about to reply to the gangter when a tall man in a carnival costume comes in, saying something that clearly translated into complete inability to understand innuendo when he heard it. Sure, Mouse didn't have an Al Capone obsession, but it wasn't too difficult for her to get what the gangter (whose name was Alistair, apparently) was getting at. Turning to this other person, she said a bit curtly in a loud exaggerated whisper aside to him, "Gangsters say things like that so the police won't get them!" and grinned mischeviously at Alistair.

Josh tapped his pen on the sheet of paper as his lips pursed thoughtfully. He gave a small gasp and a tiny smirk graced his lips as his mind formulated a decent answer for the last lingering question on the answer slip. The boy’s eyes flicked on the table giving a cursory glance for an entry box. Josh found one, but it seemed to be just hidden by a large white scarf. His amber-brown stare trailed up the enchantingly glittering fabic to meet with the face of an angel… literally! Josh smiled politely at the cherubim woman and sauntered over to her closing the minuscule five foot distance between them. He had nearly forgotten of his current wardrobe blunder. “Hello there,” he nearly cooed at her.

"Guess it's a good thing ya ain't the authorities, huh?" He winked at his new found friend, returning her grin in kind. "My associate don't have that 'subtlty' thing down yet."
Then he straitened, offering her a cheerful hand. "Alistair Greenwitch. But you can call me Alice. Most people do." He paused and then jerked a thumb over his shoulder at Bauta. "Except him."

Bauta frowned beneath his mask, looking down at the woman before him. That statement did not make much sense. "Pardon me, miss, but Alastair is not a gangster. In fact, he used to be a police officer, and I find his current lack of honesty rather distressing."
The harpy shot his neighbor a look, silently pleading with him to be more responsible and polite in his replies. "I call you Alastair because that is your name. 'Alice' refers to a female and for all intents and purposes, I assume that you are male."
He bowed low to Mouse, sweeping back his cape. "It is a pleasure to meet you, miss. My name is Bauta Moretti."

"Nice to meet you both; I'm Mouse. Are you going to refuse to call me that because it implies I'm a rodent?" she teased Bauta, clearly enjoying the social dissonance the harpy was inadverdently causing in this conversation. Hopefully he wouldn't end up offended. How... formal he was at this little party was something she had to respect, though. Must not be from around here.
"Oh, and this is Fredmitri..." the short girl added, jerking a thumb at the jacktopussy wrapped about her arm that was still mewling occasionally and trying to look past the kitchen into the Shadow Chateau.

Isikoro forced out a weak smile that had been waiting to paint itself on his lips for some time when Ebony finally accepted the guidance he was trying to give. He was showing her the way in hopes that they too could become something more than acquaintances. He wasn't really the social person, but he wanted to get to know more people. From afar, Isi would watch and observe Aphismet and his growing list of friends and Isi would find himself trying to do the same thing.
"Thanks, Ebony. You have no idea how much that helps me," then when she ended with a pun-intended statement, Isi couldn't help himself but chuckle a bit, "And yes, a distraction would do wonders right now!"

Niksia had been distracted by the punny quiz answers, being amusing and humorous was a tall order. She was folding up her entry to put into the box when a flat chested gypsy spoke to her. Blinking in surprise, she remembered to smile as she responded.
'Oh, hello yourself.'
She adjusted her staff, placing it back into her right hand, as she stood and tilted her head thoughtfully.
