"Faust!" Manta said, running up to where Faust sat hunched in his chair. Seizing his mutilated hand, he tried to catch Faust's eye, but Faust turned away as if contact with human beings was suddenly painful.

Mephistophiles grabbed Faust and heaved him over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. "Can anyone spell 'burned out?' " he asked sarcastically.
"That's not funny!" Manta said angrily. He quickly knelt and scooped up Eliza's skull before following the others in their mad dash towards the door.

"Duck!" Mephistophiles shouted, as the ceiling crashed down on them and he created a forcefield to shield them from the crushing impact. But instead of dust and concrete and wood, a gentle misting of rain was the only thing that touched their heads. They definitely weren't in Kansas anymore.
