Cody followed Mollie up to Prof. Oak's lab. The old boatman had been right; you really couldn't miss the place. It was huge! But it was understandable with all the Pokemon the Prof. housed for trainers that he would have a lot of land on which they could all roam around. Mollie mentioned that she had to stop home first for her Pokedex so the Prof. could show her how to use it. He nodded and waved to her as she walked off. While she did that, he would go in and see the Prof. about his own Pokdex and Pokemon.
Cody entered the main room of the laboratory. It was quite spacious, with tall glass windows that illuminated the room in the warm orange hue of the slowly setting sun. The Professor was sitting by a computer at a desk at the other end of the room. He looked up when Cody walked in.
"Ah, you must be Cody Powell from Eterna," the Prof. said as he got up and made his way over. Cody nodded in response. Prof. Oak smiled at him and continued, "Yes, yes...I was expecting you a little bit ago, so I was waiting. But I got a bit tired and started writing some poems on my computer to pass the time."
Cody smiled apologetically. "Sorry, Professor. I got a bit caught up in other things and that's why I'm a little late. But I made it, and I really want my Pokemon now!" His tone went from apologetic to excited. The Prof. chuckled at his enthusiasm.
"Yes, yes I'm sure you are. Well, if you'll just follow me, I'll take you to get your Pokemon and Pokedex." Cody followed the professor through his home to another room filled with shelves of pokeballs, computers, and other technical gadgets that Cody knew nothing about. The Professor walked up to a table in the middle of the room that had three pokeballs sitting on it.
"Here, Cody, are three pokeballs - each with a different starter Pokemon in them. I've chosen each one of these carefully just for you. Now it's up to you to pick from these three the one that will be your partner on your journey. It's a very important decision, so choose wisely." The Professor explained which Pokemon was in which Pokeball. He'd have to choose between a fire, grass, or water type Pokemon. Cody thought hard about which one he would choose. After a few moments of careful consideration, he picked up the middle pokeball in his hand and held it up.
"I choose this one Prof.," he said confidently. Then he released the Pokemon onto the floor in front of him. There was a flash of white light then, standing no higher than Cody's knees, was a Squirtle. The Prof. smiled and nodded.
'Squirtle? That is a good choice. If I could have picked one of these Pokemon for you myself, I would have also chosen this one for you. A water-type like Squirtle is perfect for you. Now, would you like to give it a nickname?"
Cody nodded. A nickname would make Squirtle feel more like his own and was good for developing a relationship with the Pokemon. He bent down to Squirtle's level and looked the Pokemon up and down, deciding on a suitable name. After a moment, one came to him.
"His name will be Torrent," Cody said, nodding as he liked the sound of that. The professor seemed to like the name too.
"Torrent it is. And now that you have your very own Pokemon, you'll need a Pokedex to prove that you really are a trainer." The Professor reached into the pocket of his lab coat and pulled out a red device and handed it over to Cody. "That device records Pokemon data. Any Pokemon you come across on your journey, whether you simply see them in the wild or from other trainers, or you catch them for yourself, will be registered in that Pokedex. It will give you detailed information of Pokemon you have captured as well. It's a handy little device. I'd like for you to try to fill that up with as many Pokemon as possible."
Cody nodded and tucked the Pokedex away in a pocket on the inside of his jacket. "Thanks, Professor. I will do my best!"

Mollie came through the door of the lab, out of breath, and soon found the room with Cody and Prof. Oak inside. She panted and put her hands on her knees. She sighed and put her plain red Pokedex in the air, facing Prof. Oak. Luckily she came in at the right time, when Cody was getting his. Apparently that running was a good idea. She didn't like to bother people to much if she could help it. Mollie noticed Cody had picked a Squirtle. She only knew because when she held up her Pokedex it automatically went to scan Cody's Pokemon. She silently squealed as it started beeping and spewing out a description of the Pokemon. She waited for it to be over and quickly closed it. Oak laughed heartily. "Yes, that is exactly what a Pokedex is supposed to do. I see you have a fully functional device." Mollie smiled also, and thanked the Prof. for the explanation. "Yeah, I'll see you around. I'm not going anywhere soon." She waved goodbye and left.
When Mollie got out of the building, she realized Cody would be going on a Pokemon Journey after this, and the two would probably never see each other again. It's going to be lonely here in sleepy Pallet. "So, I supposed it'll be Route 1 for you?"

Before they left the lab, the Prof. wished them both good luck and handed Cody five empty pokeballs to help get him started on his journey. He had to admit, all of this free stuff was nice. Was this how things would be as a trainer? becauase he could certainly get used to it. Cody thanked the Prof. as both he and Mollie exited the lab. Once outside, Mollie asked if he was heading out now. But the way she had said it, she sounded like she wasn't going out as well. Cody frowned, confused.
"Whoa, wait...Aren't you going too?" he asked her. "Heading out with your Pokemon, I mean? I thought...I mean...what I'm trying to say is...uh, huh..." Truthfully, he didn't know what he was trying to say. He had just assumed she was going to go off on a journey too, seeing as how she had her own Pokemon and a Pokedex as well.
"Well, look...I guess what I'm tryin' to say is don't not go because you don't think you can do it or anything like that," he started to explain. "I don't know if that even is the reason...I could be completely wrong on that. But, I dunno...if you wanted my opinion, well, I think you'd make a good trainer. You just seem like you've got a good head on your shoulders there - which is more than I can say for myself. So, if you wanted to go out to prove yourself as a trainer or whatever - even just a little bit - I'd say go for it, you know?

Mollie looked surprised. She wasn't planning on ever going on a Pokemon adventure. She thought that's what 10 year olds did, and anyone older would just be strange. "No, I actually wasn't planning on going." Mollie shook her head to emphasize she would not be urged. She had a thing to always oppose what her mother wanted, and vice versa. They were just friendly, to a point. Cody began explaining that she shouldn't do something just because she didn't think she could do it, and that she could make a good trainer.
"You make a really good point there, but..." Mollie sighed. "I just don't think it would be right for me to go out there and be independent. I'm just fourteen, and I shouldn't be alone out there in Kanto. There's dark forests, and caves, and... and..." Mollie exhaled loudly again. "I don't know anymore..." She put her palm to her forehead in thought.

Cody shook his head, smiled and said "No, no, no," interrupting Mollie's thoughts. "Look, you seem like a bright girl but your attitude's in need of a serious pick-me-up. You're so negative...all you keep saying is 'I don't think,' 'I don't know,' 'I shouldn't.' You gotta stop looking at all the cons all the time. Have you ever once just been spontaneous and hopeful that in the end everything would just work out? I mean what's the point of playing it safe if all it does is suck the fun out of everything?"
Sure, Cody had just met Mollie this morning (to his knowledge anyway), and one wouldn't say he used his head all that often, but if there was one thing he was good at, it was reading a person's personality. You didn't need be smart, quick, or clever to pick up the vibes people gave off. And even in the short small talk he'd had with Mollie today, at that moment he could read her like a book - she was being quite obvious through her words and her tone that she was quiet and kept to herself a lot. She was most certainly not spontaneous and probably the passive-aggressive type; not like himself at all. Cody's smile faded somewhat and he sighed as he realized this fact. She wasn't like him, and, as he reflected on what he'd just said, he realized it sounded like he was forcing her to do something she seemed hell-bent against doing. He didn't like making people do things they didn't want to or make them feel uncomfortable, but for some reason this situation felt different. He didn't feel the urge to suddenly take back what he'd said; there was no sudden feeling of regret washing over him once the realization had hit him. It boggled him, somewhat...and he took a moment to think of why that could be.
Mollie was different. That's the conclusion he'd come to. This situation was different because there was something about her. Something he couldn't quite place his finger on, but whatever it was, he felt the need to convince her to change her mind. He had a feeling that no matter what kind of person she was, she needed this.
"I know this must sound weird 'cause we just met and all...But I really think you should reconsider," Cody told her. "I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess the answer to my question before is no...you're not the spontaneous type. But I'm here to tell you that you're missing out big time. Do you really want to spend the rest of your life cooped up at home, safe and sound in this little old town where nothing exciting will probably ever happen to you? Or would you rather go out and really live while you're still young? Think about it..."
Cody sighed again, realizing this was probably a long shot. And, if she said no, this could potentially serious hurt whatever genial relationship they already had. But if Mollie did change her mind, it would be well-worth it in the end. He decided it would be worth the risk. "I'm asking you to trust me on this one. I know it's a lot to be asking of someone who's basically a stranger, but please. I promise you that you won't regret it, that it will all be worth it in the end and that things will all turn out okay. And if you're worried about going alone, we could always go together. What do you say? Please, please reconsider?"

As Cody went into a whole speech about her going to regret not going on a Pokemon adventure. The entire time, Mollie was absorbing it all. Apparently Cody really wanted her to go on a Pokemon adventure. Mollie's eyebrows raised as he got to the end of his 'speech'. "You'd actually want to go with me?" From the tone of his voice in the beginning, it seemed to Mollie like her attitude made it so no one wanted to be around her, since she was so negative. "Well, I guess if you really want me to," Mollie's eyebrows scrunched together in thought as she voiced her opinion. "I mean, I don't only want to go because you want me to, I'm going because you made some really good points, and..." She looked at Cody, who sighed. "Okay, yes, I'll go." She smiled at Cody, then laughed.

Mollie stumbled over her words at first before she finally made her decision. When she had agreed to go, Cody was beaming as well. He was totally pumped and ready to go now. In all the excitement, he scooped her up and spun her around quickly, then placed her back down where she had been. Although he wasn't exceptionally tall for his age, Mollie was very small and he had a good half a foot on her in height. Cody didn't seem all that phased about embracing Mollie like that, since he didn't dwell on it all. He was still so pumped to have someone - another person - going on this journey with him, even if Mollie mentioned she wasn't doing it just for him.
"Yeah! All right!" he exclaimed. "This is gonna be the best Pokemon journey in the history of all journeys! I can feel it!" He went on a little more, venting his joy and eagerness, before turning his attention back to Mollie.
"So, uh...are we ready to head out? Oh, well you probably need to pack and stuff, right?"

Mollie was suddenly picked up and spun around. It seemed Cody was so excited that nothing phased him, not even an extremely startled coordinator who wasn't really particularly fond of being picked up. It was just something most short people felt. (xD) But in the gist of it all, Mollie didn't seem so moved by it either. She was excited for herself for finally taking adventure by the hand, and for Cody of course, who was totally ready to leave. Mollie smiled when he stated, loudly, that this would be the best journey ever. She was glad he felt that way, even with a weight to slow him down, now that she joined him.
"Yeah, I'll just need to get some stuff from my house. I assume you have everything already because you came here by boat, ready for a Pokemon journey, right?" She lead herself and Cody to close to the outskirts of town to the location of her house. She parted with Cody and quickly packed a bag full of some stuff she would've usually gotten for a sleepover. Her mom came in during this and gasped. "So either you are running away, or you decided to go on a Pokemon journey!" She started eclectically going on about how excited she was and how great this was going to be for her. Ugh... I do not need this now, mom. Mollie easily swung the light bag over her shoulder and said her goodbyes and got her parents' PC number, so she could talk to them later. Her eyes flashed one more time on the new, amazing bedroom she was leaving, and told herself she would visit as soon as she got Fly. (TM)
Outside she met with Cody again, and she apologized for being gone a little while. She took a deep breath and sighed. "So, Route 1, or do you need to do something?"

"Ugh... Where can I find-"
As she fell into the grass without being seen, she saw a Riolu with his trainer
"Whats this.....?"
"Riolu.. I have to leave you... I can't have you anymore. There are too many pokémon out there, and my storage is too full."
As Riolu looks up at his trainer, his eyes are watering up
Ri.....Riolu....
I'm sorry. you just.. have to go..
His trainer places his luxury ball onto the ground and shatters it
Riolu!!
Here.. Take this hat with you. It'll be the last thing I gave to you.
Riolu lowers his head as he was crying but when he looked up, he was gone
Oh my god... He just left him like that? wait... let me just...
She takes out her pokédex and points it at Riolu
"Riolu, the Aurora pokémon. The aura that emanates from it's body intensifies to alert others if it's afraid or sad.
(I looked it up I didn't just say this xD)
"Oh.. but he's oh crap..
Riolu's ears go up and he looks at Ziikura with sadness in his eyes
"R-Riolu.. don't be scared.. I just want to help you..
"Did you see what happened? My...Master..He left me.. and it makes me sad that he would leave me for some other pokémon of his.."
It's okay.. WHOA! heh excuse me for that. I forgot that you could understand us. But, I would be happy to be your master for now! But I just gotta find a Luxury Ball for you..
Um.. Could you find me a Heal Ball? A whole bunch of people tried to put me in one of those Luxury ones, and I just want to be a healthy guy.. Y'know?
"Great! I seem to have one here...
She removes the Heal Ball from her pocket and opens the ball
"I hope he doesn't-
The Heal Ball clicks into place
"Yes! I have a new Riolu!
Ziikura throws the Heal Ball as Riolu shoots out

Apparently a few new discoveries had been made in terms of new species and the regions were growing more and more diverse with Pokemon. Now while she found Pokemon to be interesting the chats that these professors had about them weren't really her cup of tea. Instead of offering her full attention as she would have five years ago, Holly placed a dainty hand over her mouth to cover her yawn.
XXXX'Still tired. Maybe I should go back to-'
XXXX"HOLLY! TIME TO WAKE UP! CHECK YOUR LAPTOP! I HAVE A SURPRISE FOR YOU!"
XXXXThe girl couldn't help but roll her eyes and sigh since the last time her mother had told her to check the computer her 'surprise' had been an email telling her to tidy up her room because guests had been coming to use it. Not that she didn't like sharing or anything but her room was her personal place and she liked it the way she had it. When she cleaned it up everything got lost because despite the fact it was a mess, everything had its special place within that mess. Mothers just didn't understand ...
XXXX"Come on Holly! I know you're up! I can hear you listening to that Pokemon talk they always have on the radio!"
XXXXHolly sighed and reluctantly made her way over to her laptop and pulled the thing out of its case with care. She opened the screen and booted it up to check whatever it was that her mother wanted her to check. A perplexed look overcame her face when her storage informed her that she had a potion within it.
XXXX"What th-"
XXXX"Did you check your storage yet?"
XXXX"Yeah. I just did. Thanks for the potion mom but I don-"
XXXX"Did you see the map too?"
XXXXHolly surveyed the laptop and inspected the screen to find she had overlooked the town map that her mom was currently telling her about. She frowned in confusion. Why had her mom given her a town map? Her mom was always scolding her about wandering around without a grown up to help her out in case they ran into Pokemon. Pokemon were dangerous and she wasn't supposed to like them and this seemed rather ...
XXXX"Well?"
XXXX"Yeah I see it but why did you give it to me?"
XXXXHer mother's footsteps could be heard coming up the stairs and shortly afterward her mother was standing behind her with teary eyes.
XXXX"Holly I was wrong to tell you not to go out and see the world. You should go out and make a name for yourself and see what you want to see. It's just ... I didn't want to be left all on my own without you here to keep me company but you're growing up and I can't keep you here forever, you know?
XXXX"Aw! Thanks mom!" Holly rose up to wrap her arms around her mother. "You really don't know how much this means but I don't reall-"
XXXX"My only condition is that you get a Pokemon."
XXXXHolly was almost frozen with shock at the proposition. What had happened to her mother? Perhaps a ghastly was possessing her or something? Or someone was playing a prank on her nearby with their Drowzee. Either way she was in shock. Her mother was terrified of Pokemon.
XXXX"I thought you were terrified of Pokemon, mom."
XXXX"I am. But I know you want one and well ... your father left one in Professor Oak's care in case you wanted to ...
XXXX"Have it someday? Oh wow! This is great mom! Thanks so much! I'll be sure to email and write but I'm booking it over to the Prof's right now! Love you! Bye!"

"Hey Riolu! Before we head off to go see Professor Oak, You want to have a quick training session with poochyena?"
"Why not. Oh here's a list of my moves."
Hm... Aurora Sphere...Quick Attack... Rage and...STRENGTH?!?! Whoa... how did you-"
"My... old trainer taught me how."
"Oh.. The guy who shattered that ball of your`s and ran off?"
"Yeah..- HEY! HOW`D YOU KNOW THAT?!?!"
"I saw it when I was passing by..."
"Oh. Let's get fighting!"
"Poochyena..."
"Alright guys are you two ready for this?!"

Riolu jumped at the wall used quick attack to get behind Poochyena

Riolu put his hand on Poochyena's back and used aurora sphere

It seemed these days going on Pokemon journeys was rather common on the contrary to back in the day when it was kind of a new thing. The demand on Professor Oak had certainly been increased since the popularity of Pokemon had risen. This was likely due to the fact that scientists were discovering more and more Pokemon each year and were making tons of discoveries and break throughs daily. They'd even learned how to bring a fossilized Pokemon back to life. Pretty cool if she thought so herself.
XXXXIt was somewhat difficult for Holly to sit there and wait patiently after all of her mother's news and sudden acceptance but Holly knew the wait would be more than worth it. Her father had left her behind a Pokemon? She couldn't help but wonder which one it would be and what it would be like. Would it be friendly? Smart? Dumb? Angry? Rebellious? Easy-going? Lazy? There were just so many possibilities and beginning to think about those both excited and unnerved Holly a little. What if her father's Pokemon didn't like her? What if it refused to listen to her? That would really suck ...
XXXXAll she could do was wait and hope that her father's Pokemon didn't flat out reject her. Then again it'd been so many years ago since her father had disappeared. Her father had been a Pokemon Professor not unlike Professor Oak with the exception that he partook in a lot more field work. One day her father had gone on a cave exploration and his entire unit had disappeared mostly. A few survivors had managed to escape but her mother had drawn the conclusion that her father had been killed by a Pokemon and since then had been fearful she'd lose Holly to one as well.
XXXXProfessor Oak's aid happened to be standing by idly and waiting for something interesting to happen and approached Holly of his own accord with a few Poke balls on hand as he always had. It was Oak's job to give out the Pokemon and his aid's was to give out the Poke balls.
XXXX"While you're waiting I suppose you might as well take these."
XXXXHe handed her the Poke balls with a somewhat intimidated but also encouraging smile. The aid seemed a little distressed at how many people had come by and how many people still were. Maybe they were running out of Pokemon or something.
XXXX"Thanks a lot. Hopefully I don't end up wasting these because who knows when I'll be able to come by these things again."
XXXXHolly obtained 5 Poke Balls!
XXXXThe aid smiled, an area he was comfortable in and thus his explanation began. "You will come by them again once you reach Pewter City. That is where the Rock Pokemon gym leader Brock is. You'll have to train quite a bit before being strong enough to face him, though. Pewter city is through Viridian City and Forest, though so I'm sure you'll be able to do some leveling there.
XXXX"Sounds great. Thanks for the advice. I'll be sure to watch out and get lots of rest when ever I come by a Pokemon center."
XXXX"Good idea. I think Professor Oak is ready for you now, Holly."
XXXXHolly smiled and nodded then proceeded into the Professor's laboratory where he was scrambling around apparently looking for something. She stood there silently for a few moments as he rummaged about with perplexity on his features. Finally Holly decided to speak up and let him know that she was standing there so as not to embarrass him or something.
XXXX"Heya Professor Oak. You need some help over there?"
XXXXThe instant he heard Holly's voice the professor shot up and whacked his head on one of the many counters that were within the laboratory and sighed. He placed his hand on his goose egg and quickly recovered, clearly excited to see Holly.
XXXX"Holly! Good to see you! You came all this way from Celadon, huh?"
XXXX"Well seeing as dad had his shack of a house set up here still and mom wanted to visit with a few people yeah. It's a vacation I suppose. I think her real reason for coming here, though, was for me to stop by here."
XXXXProfessor Oak's old features lit up with a smile. He knew she was talking business and why else would Sanders' daughter be here? Of course she was here to come claim her father's Pokemon and start her own journey!
XXXX"Well that's most wonderful, Holly! Your father set aside a Pokemon especially for you in the hopes you'd come pick him up one day. Just let me go into the storage for a second to find him.
XXXXProfessor Oak sat on his computer and soon enough it opened one of the various drawers in which a ton of Poke balls sat. "Aha." Oak approached the drawer and picked up a really fancy looking Poke ball and handed it to Holly.
XXXX"Just press the button to release the Pokemon. He's inside a luxury ball because your father knew this guy wouldn't be satisfied with a ball otherwise.
XXXXHolly was just about to press the button when the Luxury Ball opened of its own accord, a stream of light hitting the floor then forming into the shape of a dog-like creature. The creature stared at her for a moment and cautiously came up to inspect her then looked around as if dazed.
XXXX"Hiya there ..."
XXXX"Oh right! I should have given you this first!"
XXXXProfessor Oak hands Holly Purple Pokedex!
XXXXHolly knew exactly what to do with the Pokedex and aimed it at the Pokemon before her.
XXXXHoundour, the Dark Pokémon. Houndour travel in packs and communicate though barks in order to surround their prey. This Pokémon's remarkable teamwork is simply unparalleled.
XXXX"Hi there, Houndour. I'm Holly."
XXXXThe Pokemon looked at her with a slightly perplexed look and instead wandered off to sniff around the room, clearly antsy from having been cooped up inside his ball for so long.
XXXX"Right! Should have told you that as well. Your father nicknamed him Olivander but most called him Ollie. He'd probably respond to that name better."
XXXX"Oh. Oops. Heya Ollie. I'm ... Holly! Guess our names rhyme, huh?" Holly smiled and bent down, offering her hand for the slightly timid Pokemon to come sniff.
XXXXHer offer was accepted by the Pokemon and he began sniffing her hand then looked up at her somewhat warily.
XXXX"I know you've been cooped up in that ball for a long time but as long as you're alright with it and don't cause trouble I'll bring you along with me on my trip. You won't have to stay in your ball unless you want to."
XXXXThe Houndour seemed to contemplate for a moment and looked toward Professor Oak with uncertainty. However, the Professor encouraged the Pokemon to trust Holly and he ended up jumping in her lap and knocking her over to give her a lick on the cheek, tail wagging.
XXXXHolly smiled and chuckled, "Heh heh. I suppose I'll take that as a yes, Ollie?"
XXXXThe dog-like Pokemon nudged her rib cage and Holly simply smiled. This Pokemon was adorable once it warmed up to you. Really caring, very clingy but caring. "Thanks so much for keeping him safe, prof! I owe you one!"
XXXX"Not a problem, Holly. Be careful out there and do your best. Take good care of Olivander!"
XXXX"Will do sir! Will do." She looked down at her new Pokemon and smiled. "Well Ollie, ready to go?"
XXXXAn excited bark and wagging of the Pokemon's tail was her only response until he began darting toward the door of the laboratory. Wow. This Pokemon was just absolutely amazing. She couldn't wait to see what he could dish out.

Cody followed Mollie to her house so that she could get her things for their Pokemon journey. While she went inside to get packed, Cody waited outside, looking around. It was a quaint little place she had just moved into. It would have been the kind of place anyone would have loved to spend their childhood. Pallet really was the perfect kind of hometown, if one liked the peace and quiet. It was definitely a nice place to settle down and raise a family. And, apparently, most people did just that.
Mollie didn't take too long to come back outside, her bag over her shoulder. She apologized for taking so long, but Cody shrugged it off, saying it wasn't that long at all. She asked if he needed anything before they headed off. He shook his head.
"Nope, I'm ready to roll," he said. "Shall we?"

Theo yawned as he flung his feet over the side of the bed. He grew tired of just lying around, and today, he'd decided he'd leave for Pallet Town in the Kanto region to start his adventure. Currently, he was at his abode in Dewford Town with his mother. "Hey, mom! I've got my things packed, and I'm headed out today! Going to stop by the caves and say goodbye to some Pokemon there before I head out!" Theo could be heard calling to his mother downstairs. He slung on his backpack after everything was packed. But upon reaching downstairs, he noted two eggs on the table with a note under them and a plate of blueberry muffins. "Mmm. Mom sure knows how to cook." Theo thought to himself as the scent was wafted to his nose. He plopped a muffin in his mouth, and began to read the note.
Dear Theodor,
I'm leaving for business today as well, though I had to leave a bit earlier than expected, and couldn't see you off on your adventure. Who knows? Maybe we'll see each other by chance some time! I'm headed to the Kanto region as well, you know. Anyways. I've left you some breakfast and two eggs on the table. I picked 'em up from Grampa when I visited him. The smaller one's said to bring luck, but the larger one . . . I'm not so sure on. It seems heavy. Perhaps it contains a Pokemon! I've also left your fishing rod by the door, I know how much you love to fish. Perhaps you can catch some awesome wild Pokemon as well on your adventures. I've really got to go now, so I'll leave this short. I'll miss you, son. And I love you.

Theo nodded as he put down the note and swallowed the rest of his muffin. "Love you too, mom." he told her, despite her not being there. He grabbed his rod and tossed it over his shoulder. And he was off for the caves. Upon reaching the caves he set his pack down and kneeled, a group of Aron, Makuhita, Zubat, and even some Sableye and Mawille gathered around him. "You guys, I'm leaving today. So be good. I just wanted to tell you guys goodbye as well." After a moment spent with them and saying goodbye to each Pokemon individually, Theo picked his pack back up, which now seemed remarkably more heavy, and he was off to the docks, where he'd hired a boat to take him to Pallet.
After the long ride to Pallet, Theo grabbed his things and departed for Professor Oak's labs. He entered, and the secretary told him to head straight to the back. Apparently there'd been quite a few Pokemon trainers popping up lately. And though he was starting a bit late, he was excited. He'd be picking his first Pokemon now. As he reached the back room of the labs, he set his pack down on the table. Oak was already there, and turned to address him. "Hello, boy. How're you? I assume you've finally come to begin your travels as a Pokemon Trainer." he laughed. "Ha. Yessir. I'm ready to get my adventure going. Hope to meet some cool people along the way as well. I've grown up around Pokemon a long time and can't wait to pick my f--" he began, until a loud 'CLANG' could be heard come from the table his pack was on. Or rather, under it, as it appeared a wild Aron had fallen out of his backpack. "No wonder why the bag was so dang'd heavy!" he exclaimed loudly, before walking over to check on the Aron. It was one he knew well, one of his best friends from the caverns. "Aw. 'Ron, you didn't have to follow me." Theo said, pulling the Aron close to him and giving it a hug. "But thanks, man." he said before Oak threw a Pokeball at the creature. It was caught instantly, but burst back out of it's ball. "What was that for?!" Theo exclaimed, wondering why Oak had acted so harshly. "Boy. That Pokemon there is your first Pokemon. I've only made it official." he said with a smile. It was true, 'Ron was the first Pokemon that Theo had ever known . . . it wasn't such a bad choice, really. Theo nodded in agreement of the choice and turned to leave. "Wait, kid!" exclaimed one of Professor's aids. "You'll also need a Town Map, a Pokedex and some Pokeballs." he said, handing Theo five small balls and a rolled up sheet of paper. With a thanks, and a nod of the head, he was off.
But, before leaving Pallet, he figured he'd get some good ole' fishin' in with his rod. Just a bit, he probably wouldn't be fishing all that much on this trip. Theo had a good fold-out rod for easy carrying. He'd wanted one of those super cool rods, but hadn't had enough money to get it. Even with the discount. Perhaps he could trade this one in for a better one later. He shrugged and threw the line into the water, his Aron watching as it bobbed under the surface every now and then. And soon he had a bite! He pulled it out of the water, and had Aron instantly Tackle attack it, then seeing it to be a Horsea. Thinking fast, Theo took out a Pokeball and tossed it at the wild Horse to try and catch the creature. The ball shook for just a moment before nearly instantaneously stopping. It seemed that the Horsea was either a weak one or a lazy one. Ha.Quote:
