"I'm going to the AferDark. It's one of the nicer clubs in my city, if one of the harder to find."

The neon glow of downtown embraced them in its multi-coloured light, the voices of the crowd rising above the music drifting from the doorways and floating off into the unknown of space.

Kryss ducked down an unlit alley, easily finding the camoflauged door that eventually led to the main room of the AfterDark. He looked back at Zareb, holding the door open with a small grin that showed his fangs.

"Comming in?"

Eeire music played at the doorway, but the pulsing bass of A100 danced over the violin, the guitar just audible under the piano.

Zareb was nervous about going into this weird club, but wasnt about to let Kryss know. Zareb stepped into the club and was immediatley overwhelmed by the pulsing music, he look up and followed Kryss deeper into the club

Kryss grinned, sensing the nervous energy that surrounded Zareb. He moved easily through the small crowd; everyone here knew everyone else at least by their appearance and his naturally silver hair was not easy to forget. He glanced around, seeing no one familliar, and took a small table in the corner where it would be easier to watch for any newcomers.

He looked over to Zareb, noticing his expression as well as his mood. He was fairly good at masking his nervousness, but anyone with a good sense of magic could tell how he was feeling.

"Not your crowd?" he guessed. "You know, I always thought demons had a better grasp of magic and sheilding."

"Well i've never been around this many people who knew about that stuff.........it's kinda overwhelming, in the woods where i grew up it was just me and my mom..........my brother was killed, it wasnt until a while ago that i started actually coming to the city. that's when i met your buddy's at the coven, i've always had a grasp..........but this feels.........strange"

Karan had a look of pure horror on his face. "Damn her..." He muttered under his breath. Seeing Kamiru, Karan's eyes became very narrow. "You really want to know how I died?" he said in a cold tone. Pulling the long blue and black scarf from his neck, it revealed his pale neck, that had two circular puntures. A vampire bite. "That should anwser a few questions..." Karan said breathlessly.

"Yeah, it does, but I agree with Jadelyn on this one. You can't assume all of them are bad if one of them bites. Not that there's any proof to the contrary..." Kamiru muttered so Jadelyn couldn't hear him. "Either way, I'm stuck here, so if you could just pretend to be normal, even if only for a small time, I'd feel a lot better." Kamiru began to pick up things off the floor and throw them away. He also picked up a broom and began to sweep up the dust on the floor. "I hope I can have this done before she comes back down..." Kamiru thought out loud, trying to get the building cleaned up.

Jadelyn left the door open to her loft and made her way back to her bedroom. She removed her damp clothes, leaving them in a pile at the foot of her bed and went to her dresser. She pulled out a long black skirt that sported slits up either side and a strapless green corset. Having changed, she moved around the room grabbing a sketch book and a pen and turning her stereo on.

She glanced out the window before sinking into the pillows in the corner of the room. She had no intentions of going back downstairs for awhile. If they needed her then they could come upstairs to find her. "Too attached, Jade...you're too attached" she muttered as she leaned back, propping her sketch book on her knee. She set her pen to paper and felt the sense of calm settle over her. She bit her lip as she worked, losing sense of everything except the design taking shape on the page.

"So you've never had any formal training, I take it."

He sighed quietly, unheard over the music, and ordered a drink from a passing waitress.

'The magical ability of a half-demon is not something that should be ignored. Even the most basic control of such magic would be helpful,' he thought, watching the bubbles rise and swirl inside his glass.

He looked around the room, hoping that one of these mortals would know more of magic than he, but there were none. And maybe Zareb would not want to spend time learning how to control what the demon blood in his veins had given him. He decided to wait and see where their conversation would lead.

"Nope no fromal training, just went with my instincts......they've protected me this far" Zareb looked at Kryss "so what's your story?"

Karan made sort of a 'Tsk' under his breath and watched Kamiru sweep up. "Some help...?" Karan flicked his wrist as a piece of garbage floated into air, and flew across the street landing into the dumpster.

In the darkness and under the waning moon a shadow appeared out of nowhere searching the crowd. Her grey eyes where lifeless, her skin pale, and her lips blood red yet the humans did not notice. She walked through the crowd still searching as if looking for a particular person. Every human being she passed she could feel their life and their blood flowing. She hungers and thirst for them... and yet still she searched.

"Thanks. Wait a minute, you're not a ghost anyomre, how did you do that?" Kamiru said, beginning to become anxious. "Oh well, whatever you did can wait, I've got things to do." Finishing cleaning up the floor, Kamiru pulled out the cans of paint he brought with him, and threw down some tarp. If I can work through the night, I can have this done for tomorrow morning... Kamiru thought to himself, painting the wall as neatly and quickly as he could.

Jadelyn rubbed at her eyes, smearing a bit of ink on her cheek. She let her sketchbook fall open to the floor, displaying the picture she had been working on for some time. It was a picture of a faerie, wings folded upon herself, back turned and glancing over her shoulder with a shy smile. Dropping her pen on top of the page, Jadelyn rose from the pillows and closed the heavy black velvet drapes over the window. It was early yet, but she didn't feel much like doing anything else this evening.

There was a sick feeling to her stomach. She had always dealt more closely with humans than most of her kind. She carried on relationships, both personal and professional. While it was hard to avoid living on the mere fringes of the world, she found comfort in clinging to at least some semblance of humanity. Frowning, Jadelyn tied the drapes shut, making sure that the window was covered and then she turned the stereo off. She adjusted the curtains surrounding her canopy bed, the fabric was a sheer green, more for decoration than any sort of protection. She left her clothes on and laid on top of the covers, sinking back into the pillows she closed her eyes.

"My story?" he asked, slightly surprised by the question.

He took a sip of Chartreuse, looking around into the darkness. He sensed the appearance of another vampire nearby and wondered if she would find her way inside. The door was somewhat less than obvious, and for good reason. Most of the patrons were mortals, but there was the occasional vampire or other such creature who dropped in. Some mortals noticed their difference and some did not, but they all knew of their existance.

"I suppose I should have a story by now, shouldn't I? After six-hundered fifty-seven years, I ought to have some sort of story."

He sighed thoughtfully, gazing around the room, through the crowd, into the lights. What sort of story was this half-demon looking for? His life? His death, perhaps? He didn't know.

"What sort of story would intrest you, Zareb?"

There were many that he could tell. He had not lived so long with nothing to say about the time that had passed.

the atmosphere of the Club was beginning to distract Zareb, he had never been to a club and still being young he was very intrigued by the people swaying on the dance floor, the blaring music, but the flashing lights were beginning to bother him.

he turned to Kryss hearing the question he had asked him "oh..uh.....i was wondering how you got to this city"

He drew his feet onto his chair, wrapping his arms around his legs and resting his head on his knees. He knew some of the people here, and there was one he had been trying to avoid.

"I was born in this city when it was little more than a village of about twenty families. I've left it countless times, but it has never left me. Home is home, after all."

He remembered the trees that had been cut down to make room for new buildings. He remembered leaving when he was still a little boy and fearing that he would never return. He remembered watching the city grow around him until he no longer had to leave to keep from being noticed.

He took another sip of Chartruese, staying watchful of the people he knew, and especially of the ones he did not like. Maybe they wouldn't notice him.

A few hours later, Kamiru knocked on Jadelyn's door. "Hey, Jadelyn? Are you awake in there? If you are, there's something I want you to see." Kamiru thought to himself How strange all of this is. I'm painting a building for avampire who wants to be a tattoo artist, and a human that was a ghost is helping me. This'll make for one hell of a story when I get home. Kamiru's thoughts paused as he regained memory of what had happened over the last few days. If I get home...
