I think you're being a bit unduly harsh on Relena, Jasta. I mean, you're annoyed at her for not instantly forming a familial bond with Zechs, despite the fact that they had extremely little contact over the course of the series. Even before then, the last time she saw him was when she was two years old. The problem was that each of them had their own agendas and didn't bother devoting any time to trying to connect. Maybe after the show, after things have settled, it might happen, but I think expecting them to instantly form your standard loving brother/sister rapport is a bit unrealistic.

I take your point, PV--but in the end, when you know that every parting is possibly the last (given the circumstances) and you're trying to reach an emotionally wounded, driven man who is your last surviving kin... it seems more logical to try and bind him with love than constantly either ask your friends to kill him or push him away yourself. smile I foresee this family being in therapy together for years...
But one of the reasons I often write particular fanfics is to answer just that sort of question. When they finally DID have a chance to sit down, how did it go? Did they both have the guts to follow through? What precipitated the discussion, and what was the aftermath?
I've already got some notes on it. A story will come out of this sooner or later...
I want to like Relena, I really do. But the writers made her sort of cookie-cutter-esque, in that she only starts thinking about deeper things toward the end--but throughout most of the series she's not always a person I can like. Eventually she is, but not really until the end of EW.
I keep thinking about the moment when someone (Pagan maybe?) says something like Forgive us, King Peacecraft in heaven... and talks about the burdens placed on both of his children. A very poignant comment, and painfully true...

Actually, she only asked anyone to kill Zechs once, and that was when it looked like he was going to kill Heero, which, of course, came before she knew that he was her brother. Trust me, if she'd done that sort of thing after they knew the truth, it'd be a lot more jarring - there's an instance of this in the original Gundam novel where Sayla asks Amuro to kill her brother after they've had sex, which makes her look extremely unsympathetic to most readers.
And let's be fair, most of the GW cast is probably gonna need therapy after all they've been through. Might make an amusing fanfic to do the whole comedy therapy thing with the cast, using things like the obvious puppets and the foam bats.

They got released in America in the early 1990s, but were limited printing and very rare. Around the time Seed was airing, a publisher named Stone Bridge Press did a compiled volume and put that out. I'm fortunate enough to own both the compilation as well as a copy of the first novel I found at a second-hand bookstore in my area.

Silent Soldier 03 GundamIsGod gundam fan zero what i have against him is i hate his guts. his personallity gets on my nerves. in fact i really wish he would'v died on the series. i also think that he is way too emotional to be a gundam pilot. i mean duo is the next most emotional but he is emotional in a different way so i woudn't classify them in the same category. *pats* There, there... I'd actually say that Wu Fei is pretty emotional, too. The turmoil and confusion of his emotions sometimes get the better of him, and he makes decisions that seem irrational (like joining Mariemaia in Endless Waltz). Then again, who doesn't every now and then? Quatre is cautious and gentle. All of the pilots care about others, he is just more open about it. I used to compare Wufei to Raphael from TMNT.

I don't recall the characters from TMNT well enough to make that connection, but from what I can tell after a quick search on Wikipedia, Raphael's emotional extremes would be similar to Wu Fei's. *noddle*

Yeah, I can see the Raph-Wufei connection. Michelangelo and Duo are a pretty good comparison too, though I can't figure out anyone else to compare in TMNT, thought I'd love to justify Relena as April O'Neal.

*grins* I'd go along with that. I really would like to get into his head for the last few episodes of the series, tho, to see what the HECK he was thinking... poor baby, I think he just couldn't see himself in a world without war, having been raised to be so darned good at it.
He just needed to realize that all he'd have to do is wait... Humans are just... warlike by nature!
