Kevin was shivering when they got inside. He was grinning though, and hurried to the kitchen where Maia had set out mugs of hot chocolate. "Can we do that again later?" He asked, eagerly. He'd definitely changed his mind about snow. He carried a second mug out to Toby and offered it to him. "Here," he said, cheerfully. He took a sip of his own.
Maia had retreated into the house after Kevin had decided she was an easy target. She was sipping hot cocoa, sitting on the couch. Her gloves were still on. "Michael, do you want to try this?" She asked.

Toby took the mug with a little "thank you." The tips of his nose and ears had gone a bit pink from the cold, but he was in good spirits. Dari offered a mug to Cody and, of course, put extra marshmallows on his own. He wrapped his hands around it just to feel the warmth.
"What is it?" Michael asked, materializing beside her. Brown drink? What was it with people nowadays and brown drinks?

"Hot chocolate," Maia said, and smiled at him. "You'll like it." Hot chocolate wasn't anything like the bitter drink he'd described to her. "Do you want to try a marshmallow?" Had he ever had one? Did they have marshmallows back in the Victorian era?
"Try it," Kevin encouraged. "You'll like it!"

Huh! So people still drank chocolate? It looked a lot different than what he was used to. He still didn't like the idea of interrupting anyone's time, but marshmallow was hard to deny. Those had probably changed a whole lot since his time too!
"If I may..." he said, looking at the drink. He then turned to look to Maia and smiled. "May I?"
Dari and Toby came in then and joined Maia around the living area.
"Is it weird to possess a woman?" Toby asked innocently.
"A bit. Not to strange," Michael said, his hands still clasped behind his back.

"You may," Michael was so polite, even after he'd been invited. "Tomorrow, I'm taking you out to play in the snow." She looked up as Toby and Dari came in and smiled. "Hi, love," she said. "You warming up?"
Kevin wandered into the living room. His nose was wrinkled. "I'd never want to be a girl," he said. "They wear dresses and girly things!"

"Mmhm," Toby said and smiled at Maia. Then he turned to Kevin: "Not all of them do. The only difference is in the junk, Kevin, and even then not always."
Michael disappeared then as he possessed Maia and took over a bit of control to look down at the cup. Ooh, it smelled so nice. It smelled creamy, definitely not like the old stuff.
"I won't burn you, will I?" he asked in Maia' head.

"Most of them," Kevin grumbled. His eyes widened slightly, and he shook his head. "Blegh! I don't want to talk about that stuff!" He took a sip of hot chocolate and looked away from Toby, obviously flustered.
"No, just take it slowly," Maia assured Michael.

Toby smiled and shook his head. Some day, probably. Just not now.
Michael lowered their nose to the mug and inhaled deeply. Ah, the sense of smell was so amazing. He used Maia's hands to tilt the cup up and take a little sip. A marshmallow bumped their nose. Michael smiled and took another, deeper sip. It didn't burn (not that he would have minded, himself). His smile grew and he closed their eyes, then sighing and giving a happy assenting noise.
"It's good," he said, in his own voice, and went for another.
"Take it slow, big boy," Toby said and laughed. he was never going to get used to Maia with a man's voice. Michael-Maia looked up to him and smiled again.

Maia was grinning. She took a sip of hot chocolate. "I told you you'd like it," she said. "It's even better after being out in the cold," she said.
Kevin was starting to set up his x box. "Come on, Dari! Michael will play with us when he's done!"

"It's been a long time since I've been cold," Michael said.
Dari set down his mug and went to help Kevin set up the X Box, knowing that the machinery was a bit different on this TV than the one in his room. Hot cocoa could be for any time, but Kevin would only have one first winter in New England.
"No violent games yet," Toby remarked, more to Kevin than to Dari.

"No violent games," Kevin agreed. Not when Maia was around, she was sensitive about that stuff. For some reason, that no longer seemed like something trade worthy. He pulled out the box for splatoon and offered it to Maia-Michael. "They're squid people. You can possess one of them in online play, if you like! It'll be fun! Or you could do something else."
"I've never seen you in a video game, Michael," Maia said, and moved to sit on the couch to watch.

Michael looked down at the hot cocoa and then back at Kevin.
"In a little while," he responded. For now he was happier with the cocoa. He could possess a video game any time anyone played one. It could be fun in its own right, but actually playing wasn't all that fun for him. He preferred to mess with things, but he was pretty sure that ruined it for the players sometimes. He could always screw with Kevin, alter some bosses maybe.
"I've seen him in computer programs," Toby said.

Michael certainly seemed to like hot chocolate! Maia was glad she'd gotten him to try it. Maybe she'd make some fudge sometime while they were here. He'd probably like that.
"What do you like to do in computer programs?" Maia asked, curiously. "Hey, Michael, we should make cookies or something tomorrow." Shaped cookies, maybe? Had Michael ever done that before? "You too, Kevin. We should all make cookies."
Kevin wasn't too disappointed, at least. He offered Dari a controller. "I want to make cookies," he agreed.

Michael didn't respond immediately. He seemed more concerned with the warm drink in their hands. Finally he decided that it was be impolite to inhabit a body and no respond to a question asked by the keeper of it.
"Whatever I feel like," he said, and while it wasn't a great answer it was an answer.
Dari took the controller and settled in to play. "I've never made Christmas cookies while human."

Ahhh, whatever he liked. Like typing in a read only document. Or somehow getting into the phone lines. Maia took another sip of hot chocolate.
"I know," Maia grinned at Dari. "It'll be fun!"
"I've never made Christmas cookies at all," Kevin revealed. Or celebrated Christmas. "You guys'll have to show me how."
