Luthien laughed softly. "That's true," she agreed, "a hello has never hurt anyone."
She only hoped Ruel would be civil. Since Tinuviel's disappearance, he had been worse than usual - he had even been cross with her a few times. She didn't blame him, she was as worried for their daughter as he was; but still.
She held Lin in her arms and moved over to join Ruel at the table.

Lin looked down at the edge of Luthien's hands, because it was such a neat view to have when someone was walking. One could not get a view like that anyway else, and she looked up again to see they were going to be sitting near Ruel. Of course that is.

By the time Luthien sat down with Lin, her and Ruel's breakfast were already being brought in. She set Lin on the table in front of her so that they could talk, then turned and spoke to her husband.
Though Ruel's reply was calm and soft, it also had a ring of firmness in it that no language barrier could hide. He nodded at Lin in a polite motion and started eating.

Lin waved up at Ruel, since actions could make up for differences in what a language barrier would cause. If she noticed the firmness, she didn't comment on it, seeing as her Daddy could be quite blunt at times, and simply thought Ruel was like her Daddy.
"Hello!"

Ruel blinked at Lin. She'd been there three days and was only now trying to talk to him?
"Suilad," he said shortly, looking back down at his breakfast and continuing to eat.
Luthien slapped his arm and scolded him in Elvish, and he looked at her as if asking what he had done wrong.

"What does that mean?" Lin asked Luthien curiously?
Since she didn't get it at all, naturally of course she wouldn't have.

"It means he's being rude," Luthien replied, somewhat annoyed. "More so than usual."
By which she meant that he normally behaved around her, at the very least.
"But I think Tinuviel's disappearance is what's made him like this," she added. "As I said, he's not normally this bad."

"Oh..." Lin thought for a moment, "But it's okay!" she nodded, "Because she wanted to go I think, or else she wouldn't have gone with Dareon right?"
She paused to think about this in what she was trying to say.
"Daddy says you should worry more if you didn't want to go, but since she wanted to go, then she has to be much better than if she didn't want to go," the small Surprise nodded.
Though she didn't think he understood anything what she just said. She really didn't know what else to do, since he obviously could not understand her.

Luthien thought silently for a moment, trying to figure out what in the world Lin had said; and once she reasoned through it, she laughed.
"Yes, that would make sense," she agreed. "And I do believe that the children should know their grandmother. I also think that she'll be fine ... I just wish she would have told at least me. Her father would have stopped her, I think, but I really believe that she should have the chance to know her grandmother."
She sighed and added, "Even if he himself doesn't want to know his own mother."

"Why not?" Lin inquired not at all understanding how anyone would not want to get to know their own mother, much less didn't know their own mother, "She's his Mommy, so he should get to know her."

"It's ... a very long story," Luthien smiled sadly, picking up her own utensils and starting in on her breakfast. "Perhaps better left alone."
Ruel tapped his wife on the elbow and spoke to her, his tone sounding questioning, and she frowned at him and shook her head.

Lin didn't know what exactly happened, but from the sounds of Ruel, he sounded like someone who really needed his mother. She mused looking thoughtful.
"Can I stay with him and see what he does? I heard he makes all sort of things."
Weapons for starters but she wasn't going to say that.

Ruel rolled his eyes and Luthien giggled at Lin.
"Well, he does," she agreed, "on the other hand, the armoury is no place for a child of any age or size. Even Earendil does not go in there, and Daeron does only seldomly. So if you can catch him on a day when he doesn't work, you're free to annoy him to your heart's content."

"Aww...."
Lin tried not to pout, because she didn't like pouting, but it was a habit for her.
"Well, I won't annoy him, it's getting to know him not annoy him," she pointed out.
Granted she didn't realize it was one in the same thing.

"Trust me," Luthien said dryly, "with him, it's annoying. He finds a lot of things annoying."
Too much.
"On the other hand," she mused, looking somewhat amused, "it might be good for him ..."
She giggled again.
