Awakening at the sight of dawn Rin got up. She had missed out on a lot and Miharu was gone. It wasn't too much of a surprise, but she still felt a bit down troddened. "I supose I should try for my first badge," she said to herself as she got up. Celebi isn't going to show itself to a weak trainer. Please wait Dad, I'm coming.
Stepping into the morning sunlight Rin released her Dratini, Kuya. She held the slender dragon within her arms as she made her way across the town of Azalea, the town that she had only left a few days ago. "Falkner had bird Pokemon," she said making an attempt at thinking up of a battle strategy. They weren't exactly her thing. She passed by Slowpoke Well as was well on her way.

"Last resort?" He asked himself, tilting his head in confusion. "But, it was the first move." The boy added in a laugh, quite amused at Kilik's excuse. Attempting to look through the raging maelstrom of sand in front of him, Mike called out another order. "Alright Titanium, let's end this quick!" He lifted a foot, stomping it onto the ground. "Earthquake!"
The Steelix smiled at the command, rather enjoying this move. With Flareon still in his grip, he lifted up his end section and smashed it onto the ground, an explosion of gravel and stone ripping through the earth.
Mike saw a few chunks of gravel burst through the tornado of sand, one narrowly missing him. "Man that move is devastating!"

"I wondered when you'd be back," Flannery smiled, setting her book down on the arm of her chair. A second later, the entire gym complex began to shake and tremble, causing the book to topple to the floor. She sighed, picking the book up again and replacing it. "Living around a volcano, you think you'd get used to all these earthquakes and tremors we have," she laughed, shrugging it off. "But you know, Mitsu, I wouldn't have been upset if you would have just teleported right away. You've done this before, after all." She paused for a moment, and nodded. "But yes. A gym match you've requested; and a gym match shall you receive. Two on two, and no switching. No time limit, either. I shall reward you with the Heat Badge and also a TM if you can defeat me. Sound fair?" She already held a Pokeball in either hand, each having a decal of the Head Badge etched on the top.

"You're kidding?" Mitsu said. If there were a wall slose by she would have gladly slammed her head into it. "All that energy wasted," she sighed. After the minor Earthquake Mitsu perked up, the prospect of winning the Heat Badge that had been so elusive to her before. "Two on two, sounds fine," Mitsu answered, "and I think I'll send out Karri first."
Karri nodded before floating onto the gym's battle area. "I'm ready."

"I'm sorry, I should have mentioned something beforehand," Flannery laughed sheepishly, scratching her head. She took her usual position, looking at the elegant Gardevoir with admiration. Now if I weren't a strict Fire-type trainer, she thought with a smile, and tossed out her first Pokeball. A dopey-looking Pokemon materialized on the battlefield in a flash of white, blinking its round eyes and yawning loudly. It was a Numel. Flannery thought of the powerful Camerupt she'd battled Mike with the other day, and smiled. That battle had been rather...unique. She would adhere to the gym's rules this time.
"Okay Numel, let's start off with a Magnitude!" The gym leader sighed, not really wanting to rip her newly renovated floor to shreds already, but it couldn't be helped. Numel reared back on its hind feet, and opened its mouth widely before it brought its front legs down hard on the ground, causing a tremor to rip through the ground, shaking everything for a second time in two minutes.

M.A. snapped out of her thoughts (or lack thereof) when Ky made his presence known to her. The gloominess she had felt faded away at an amazing rate, with a beaming smile replacing it. "'Mornin', Ky!" she greeted, glad to see him.
"Uh, well, no, I haven't seen him. . ." This time, though, thinking of Crenu's disappearance without warning did not make her feel bad; Ky wasn't worried, after all, and he knew him better than she did. Mentally, she chided herself for being so silly and letting these things upset her. Typical that human nature would blow things out of proportion from time to time. She had been overthinking again, she thought, grinning woefully.
"Wanna grab a bite to eat first, or go look for him, or. . .?" [ Sorry Willow. . . I'll post for Jasmine tomorrow, hopefully. > <; ]

Keegan listened to the exchange between Kasiya and Koga with interest. Apparently some guy by the name of Surge was her father. The Hoenn native had no idea who he was, and the thought was quickly forgotten as the battle started. His eyes grew wide at the sight of Adamantine. Had she ever grown since the last time he'd seen her! He nodded in approval as he watched the two exchange attacks; already this was shaping up to be quite the battle. You can do it, Kassie, the redhead thought. Don't hold anything back.

Starrie’s Water Gun caused the large Onix to roar in anger. It thrashed its body violently, causing everything to shake and rattle loudly. Miharu cried out in fright, and held onto the wall nearby for support. Suddenly, the Onix lunged forward, slamming its head into the Staryu with a crushing blow. The force of the attack sent the Star Shape flying back several feet, but it jumped up again, its red-jeweled core blinking a few times.
“Recover, Starrie!” Miharu called from the safety of her position. All at once a bright light seemed to illuminate the Staryu as it recovered energy, and the lost appendage had even started to grow back, only minimal damage was still present. Rather nimbly, the aquatic Pokemon retreated a few steps and ducked as once again the Onix tried to ram into it with its head. We must have really made him mad, Miharu thought, wincing. “Camouflage yourself, Starrie!” the green-haired girl called, feeling a gentle nudge up against her leg. The little Wooper had chosen to hide behind her instead of the fallen Mach Bike. “Don’t be scared,” the girl told the Water Fish assuredly. “I won’t let anything happen to you.”
Starrie’s core shimmered for a second before its body became a slate grey colour, matching the rocks that surrounded it. All at once it vanished from the Onix’s sight, and the Rock Snake looked around frantically for its opponent, a low rumble escaping its throat the entire time.

Starrie continued to elude its massive opponent for a while longer, waiting quietly for Miharu to issue her next command. The young trainer also waited, not quite sure where her Pokemon had wound up. Once she was sure that she could land a direct hit, she cleared her throat. “Water Gun, Starrie! Send him packing!”
Glad to oblige its trainer, Starrie leapt up from its hiding place, and tilted its top point forward, blasting a powerful spray of water at the large Onix. Another direct hit was scored, causing the Onix to roar in anger before it turned, slamming its head into the nearby floor and burrowing away, vanishing in only a moment or two into the underground.
Miharu sighed in relief as the Onix retreated. That battle had accomplished two things: one, Starrie had gotten a bit of training in, and two, their path was now cleared. Once again scooping up the baby Wooper, Miharu mounted her bike; watching as Starrie healed the rest of its damaged appendage with another Recover and joined her, once again ready to light the way.
They hadn’t even started out again when Miharu caught sight of something blue coming towards them. It was a lot bigger than a Wooper, and Miharu realized it was a Quagsire. The young Wooper in her arms let out an excited cry and it jumped down, running over to greet its mother happily. The mother Pokemon nodded towards Miharu gratefully, and motioned for her baby to follow her. The two dived into a pool of water on the other side of the path, also disappearing from sight.

Koga said nothing as the attack slammed into his Venemoth. He merely watched the Pokemon stumble in the air for a moment; a quick pain went through his chest. "You won't win unless you are one with your Pokemon!" Koga called out, placing his middle and index fingers together and bringing them in front of his face. Every amount of pain that his partner was feeling, the Gym Leader felt too. "Venemoth! Use Psybeam!" he commanded, pushing his hand forward.
The moment his hand stopped, a rainbow colored wave burst out of Venemoth's wings, headed straight for the small Larvitar.

Kilik moved out of the way as a chunk of the earth flew passed him. The attack had hit so strong, along with Flareon in Steelix's grip, Kilik knew it was over. The fox slammed painfully into the ground, letting out a cry at a volume he had never before. Due to the force, speed, and overall power of the Earthquake, Flareon was ejected from the Sandstorm, landing at Kilik's feet in a heap. The boy winced at the sight of his Flareon in such pain. Once again, he had failed to beat a Steelix. Holding up the fox's Pokeball and recalling him, he called over to Mike.
"Alright! It's over, Mike!" He laughed, "You won!" Kilik clipped the ball back to his belt. Exactly how I thought it would be, he thought with a smirk.

One with my Pokemon? Kasiya thought, although she had no time to do anything else. The multi-coloured wave slammed into Adamantine's upper body, sending the Larvitar flying backwards and right into her trainer, who could only watch with wide eyes as her Pokemon crashed into her, knocking them both to the ground with a painful thud. Kasiya swore she heard a rib cracking on impact, and she groaned as she sat up, having a pretty good idea of what Ada was feeling. The Larvitar sat up too, adjusting her position as not to crush Kasiya. Even though she was very small, she was quite heavy, easily weighing close to 150 pounds.
"Are you all right to go on, Ada?" Kasiya asked, and the Larvitar nodded, gritting her teeth as she stood up, and jogged back onto the battlefield, not letting on about the continual ache in her chest that was a result of the Toxic from earlier. "Okay then," the girl nodded gingerly, picking herself up slowly. "Let's make things interesting," she said. "Sandstorm!"
Ada nodded, and stomped one foot down on the ground. A vortex of sand streamed up from where she stood, growing larger as it swirled around her rocky little body. Very soon the vicious sands obstructed the view, whipping and tearing about the field. It didn't bother Kasiya so much this time, though; the stinging sensation she felt on her bare arms and legs was nothing compared to the ache she felt in her own chest.

The sands whipped about, grains slamming and stinging against his face. It was nothing new; the Gym Leader had trained under all sorts of conditions provided by his underlings. A thunderstorm was just a mere shower to him now; blistering sunlight was just comfortable. Hail the size of Pokeballs combined with hard winds and snow felt the same as checking the freezer for a frozen meal. What was a sandstorm? A walk on the beach. Koga lifted his scarf over his mouth and beneath it, he smirked. Although unable to see his Pokemon, he could feel its every movement in his mind, almost like a Psychic.
"Venemoth! Use Psybeam one more time!" he commanded. Within the swirling vortex, he could see another burst of rainbow light.

Seeing the bulge of water flying forth at Sunfire Mag issued his command again. "Come on Sunfire!" Mag shouted to the Flareon. The bulge of water came at him and was closing in on him fast. He still seemed to be unresponsive. "Sun!" Then in the last moments Sunfire moved foreward through the wave with no damage at all. A faint golden barrier could be seen upon him. He had used Protect for the first time in official battle. "Great job buddy!" Mag shouted but then stopped mid sentence. Sunfire was still swimming in circles. Apparently the confusion wasn't over with yet.

The whirling sands dissipated, Titanium standing proudly over the heap that was his opponent. He uttered a low growl, slamming his tail on the ground, victory felt good. Mike drew in the Steelix's war lust, feeling quite happy as well. "Good job Titanium!" The boy shouted, getting a toothy grin from the serpentine Pokemon. He laughed, recalling him back into his Pokeball. "Such a good Pokemon..." Mike looked up at Kilik, a coy smirk playing on his lips. "Not bad boy, you've got quite the team of Pokemon." Mike smiled, placing his hands on his hips. "Can't wait to see what Napalm and Elekid are like when they're Magmar and Electabuzz. That'll be a sight to see." His eyes sparkled at the mention of Napalm's evolution. Mike nearly swooned at the thought of such a powerful Fire Pokemon being his partner, going into battle together. The boy let out a loving sigh, looking back at Nitro, who had followed up behind him.
"What say you to adding another friend to our tangled mess of a team?" Mike asked in a joking tone, smiling at the Charizard's momentary contemplation. Were they really all that dysfunctional? Nitro nodded, wondering what kind of fierce, powerful, and massive creature his trainer decided on.
"Well, it's settled, back to the house!" The duo made their way past Kilik and his entourage, both waving goodbye.
