His name. He had heard his name. Jordan turned, tilting his head slightly to the side as he took in the figure chasing him. His eyes flickered to Horace's feet, then his hands, then his face; the stare that met Horace's look contained nothing of recognition, only a vicious and aggressive light.

(He knew this person, a small and mostly smothered fragment of himself whispered. This was an ally, someone he did not want to hurt. But the fragment was easily stifled by the thick blanketing layer of the urge to hunt.)

To the main camp? That sounded like a good idea. Jordan smiled, widely, toothily. But first, he decided, he would fix this one, this one who wasn't right yet. But he could solve that problem. It would be easy. He felt so strong. He belonged to something larger than himself, finally, finally.

In the beam of Horace's light, it could be seen that Jordan's right hand had turned black, and tendrils of the corruption had begun creeping up his arm.

Something was wrong, terribly wrong. Jordan face seemed twisted, full of an aggression he hadn't seen on the other man. His light bobbed as he scanned Jordan. "Hey - you feeling ok?" Jordan hadn't said anything and the silence was more than a little ominous. The Horace saw his arm. Black contagion had inched up his hand, twining through Jordan's flesh like poisonous vines. Necrotic. Diseased. Infected.

Jordan's infected - treat him like a threat.

The words of Rep's panicked annoucement bumped to the forefront of his mind. s**t. The blackness that crept along Jordan's arm, the strange look in his eyes. Horace knew there was no way he would win in a fight against Jordan, but maybe the other man wasn't completely gone. This was still Jordan, after all. Horace swallowed dryly and wondered where that other hunter had gone.

"Jordan, w-we should treat your arm. Does it hurt?" He stepped a little closer to him, finishing around in his bag - did he even have bandages in there? "Let's go back to camp and get you fixed up before something comes." One of his hands curled into a fist. Jannisari's totem hung heavily in his ear - but if he summoned now, would it be a threat? He didn't want to fight Jordan. To be honest, all he wanted to do was get Jordan back, get him an antidote, and maybe give him some coffee afterwards. Coffee cured everything, right?

Jordan stalked slowly closer, his eyes fixed on Horace's face, seemingly unblinking. Ferros's barrel dragged along the floor beside him as he moved. He didn't respond for long moments. Then he said, "It doesn't hurt." His hand was numb, tingly, like static on a badly tuned radio station, but he could still feel his grip tight on Ferros's handle, and that was good enough.

"Fixed up," he repeated, and his words were oddly drawled. "Fixed. I need ... to fix things. Need to fix people. Let me fix you." In spite of his strange, slow pace and the dragging slurred words, his charge was fast, almost too fast, and he brought Ferros up and around with punishing strength.

"You have a point..let's do that." Cain was focused, but Lukas was right. They needed to ignore the others and make it for the main camp. A side glance and he saw their little band of misfits was all together and maybe just maybe let out a sigh of relief. The announcement came and it only made going that much more of a priority.

Forward into the darkness Gretchen found the map and directed them, a second look to make sure and he nodded before catching himself, "yeah looks good." A faster pace set Cain gripped his weapon as they moved down the mall halls, a turn here and there and then he saw it. A huge infected attacking the barricades of the main camp. "s**t." It was his first thought and what pushed past his nonexistent filter as they approached. For a moment he stilled, nervous, hesitant but calculating which way to go in at it and the camp before rushing in.

Rep arrived at the camp just in time to see the barricade breaker arrive. He set Sasha down on one of the cots and turned to the area where the fracas was going down. It was a whole lot ******** different up close rather than distantly watching over the cameras. It was very different with the beast's teeth snapping and blades swinging inches from their collective noses. Setting his jaw, he summoned Tracey who appeared in a twist of blackened shadows, coiled and tangled up with Marie and leapt to the front line, showing the kind of abandon he was used to with these infected ********, for the time being was still busy unpacking the important stuff.

"Anyone want to back me up?" he said with a smirk, not realistically expecting anyone to waste their time defending him.

"Got it." Otto murmured, likely not enough for Rep to hear. People sucked. He was done with people. But monster killing? Sounded like a blast.

Everything wrong in Otto's world was focused on the darkness that radiated from Barry. Otto reeled his arm back sharply with Tenya in hand. The heavy boomerang of six feet was hurled through the air and into the beast's side.

As the infected fell, Oliver felt only a ghostly touch of relief. The wet soaking into his clothes was only a part of it, and it was still dark and rumbling… But what disturbed him the most was that look Finn had as he glanced at the rest of them. He was used to amusement, exasperation, and a myriad of other tiny emotions in the Moon hunter’s cold expression, but this time it almost lacked recognition in a way.

He nodded, falling in behind the rest, not trusting himself to say a word in response to anyone. His entire body trembled, it was visible in the way he still held his axe at ready. If Peyton pushed for an answer it would likely just release the frightened tears just waiting for an opportunity to fall. Oliver bit his lower lip, he just had to hold on until the end of the mission, if he survived the mission, and then he would be able to go to his room and cry all he wanted.

As the little group approached the main camp, it was impossible not to notice the giant creature attacking the makeshift barricade. Oliver’s first reaction was to freeze in place, the creature was large and certainly more monstrous than anything he had ever fought. It was like some hideous monster from a video game, if you crossed Monster Hunter with a bit of Resident Evil, tossing in a bit of flashlight-required horror game elements on top…

Oliver would have chickened out completely if he hadn’t realized the creature was not just attacking the barricade, but the white-coated hunters who guarded it. Without waiting for the other three, he ran in and delivered a solid chop to the creature’s lashing tail. Had he been a real monster hunter, his palico would have been proud.

As he began to walk, barely giving a glance to the others that he had just stood and fought with, he struggled with thoughts that began to steadily contradict themselves. His brief few messages that he had sent to Ripley to let him know that as of that moment, he was okay, that he was alive seemed like a lie. He was beginning to doubt himself, his mind a swirl of images, all negative. Inside, anger began to simmer.

Continuing to ignore everybody else, his eye closing slowly and then opening again, his breathing becoming more ragged, he desummoned his weapon again and brought his phone back out. Something in his eyes changed at that moment, and though he was walking at a fairly brisk pace, Peyton caught up to him at that time, and asked him how he was feeling.

How was he feeling? Like she really ******** cared. She wasn't to be trusted.

Nobody was.

He halted in his tracks, staring down at his phone for several long moments, thumb moving slowly over the keys before he put it back in his pocket.

"Yes." His voice was still a tad too haggard, the look in his eye a bit too wild. "It's just you, and everyone else, that isn't." It was like he wasn't really seeing her, like what was in her place was some kind of terrible monster, worse then those that they'd already fought.

His weapon summoned again, he swung at her, his mind quickly clouding over, what was real and what wasn't blurring together so that he couldn't tell the difference anymore, and all he could really feel sure of was that she, and everyone else around him, were the enemy.

As always, there were the risks that came with fighting at close quarters in a cluttered mall with an enormous weapon that was taller than its wielder. Rep swung out at the lumbering creature and rather than connecting with it, ended up with Tracey's hook caught on a bit of fencing that was part of the barricade. He had to spend several moments trying to twist him free.

Tenya hit the creature square in the face and it was enough for Rep to move in and take a punishing cleaving blow at the scuttling legs, ignoring the black blood that struck him, only mingling with the water and other more crimson blood that absolutely covered him.

They needed to clear this ******** place before the monster's bigger brother showed up.

Lydia had sort of gotten lost among the chaos. Or maybe she had just been hiding out somewhere and had been hoping not to be found out and forced to go and face the Big Horrible Things that would likely eat her for dinner. Dealing with the bitten little girl had been bad enough. Dealing with large, mutated infected was beyond what she felt like she was capable of.

But at some point, she just had to steel herself and go do her job.

Until, of course, the multi-limbed horror took a swipe at her. Then she was not so sure if she was really cut out for this after all, and went skittering back several miles meters again.

As they drew near enough to see the giant monstrosity that was attacking the base camp Peyton's attention wavered slightly from Finn, understandably. Pale eyes twitched up, a brief flicker back to the Moon beside her, then snapped back up to the thing in front of them as her pace faltered. "What the ******** is that?" Her voice was quiet, and she doubted anyone heard her. Oliver was running ahead to join the fight, Finn had stopped and Milo-

She hadn't expected the attack, she wasn't even facing him when the blade of the lance caught her in the hip and sent her staggering.

"What the f- Finn?!" He didn't look right. There was a sheen of sweat on his upper lip, his eye was wide and wild, and he was looking at them, at her, as if what he was seeing wasn't what was already there. The words sank in belatedly, and with them came the icy chill of dread. Peyton had seen this before. Or something like this. The first time they'd encountered the green-eyed infected, everything had gone to s**t. No one in their group had been bitten, but they'd all seen things, thought things, that weren't real.

"Finn..." Trying to reason with him was useless. The Sun brought her weapons up, smacked the lance away with a clang of metal on metal, but she didn't immediately move to attack.

She was the monster here. The disease that needed curing. Something to be struck down until it could no longer stand, or move, or even breathe.

Her words fell on nearly deaf ears, his lip curled back from his teeth as he advanced again after she managed to push him back, weapon raised.

He felt stronger then he ever had before, which was quite fortunate, because he had a lot of work to do now.

With a wordless sound that tore free from his throat, he swung again, and again, and again, slashing repeatedly with a weapon that continued to rotate in his hands even as he kept advancing, striking at her over and over.

The back of his shoulder, where it once itched and burned, felt oddly numb.

The sight that greeted them as they approached the camp made Lukas freeze -- for about a count of three -- just staring up at the monster, unlike anything else he'd every seen before. It should have been terrifying. It was terrifying. But it was also so surreal that after the moment passed, it was hard for him to take it seriously.

He threw himself at it without quite realizing that he was doing so, with no strategy or sense, completely forgetting the suggestion that they all defend each other.
