Leo couldn't help but give a soft chuckle. "Do you have any chocolate chips? You could melt them and cover some of the fruits with chocolate. Or you could make some of the fruits into juice...or pie....There are lots of things you could make fruit into." he said with a small smile, the ideas suddenly popping into his head. "Maybe we can learn a new recipe for the fruits? What kinds do you have and how many?"

Sasha had to rattle her head to remember what they had bought. There were so many... "We have strawberries, grapes, pineapples, mangoes, probably whatever you can think of. Well, maybe not cherries," she said, laughing. "Cherry would joke that we would have been blending pieces of her or something. Personally, I think we just don't want to go through the labor of taking out all the seeds."

Leo smiled. "I'm sure we could make some chocolate covered strawberries or a few pies if you have enough of a kind of fruit." he said softly. "What do you think? Should we bake at least one pie with the fruit? They're really yummy!" Leo said as he found a stool to sit on at the counter.

A pie actually did sound pretty good right now. "We probably have enough strawberries for a pie," she said, gathering one of the bowls of strawberries. "Is this enough? We bought extra strawberries today, so one bowl missing shouldn't be too bad."

Leo reached out to feel the bowl to see how bit it was. If this bowl was filled to the top with strawberries then they should have enough. "I think this will do. Does anyone have a cookbook so we can look the recipe up for a strawberry pie?" he asked curiously, unsure of who all was in the kitchen with them.

"There's one on the table," said Chase, grabbing the book. "A strawberry pie, you said?" A strawberry pie sounded like a refreshing change from smoothies, but they had yet to make one. Smoothies had been enough before.

Leo smiled and nodded at Chase's question. "How about you get the ingredients onto the counter and me and Sasha will start slicing strawberries." he said rather confidently as he set the bowl down on the counter. "But first we need to wash the strawberries." he instructed Sasha, sliding the bowl over to her.

Sasha gave a salute and began to wash the strawberries while Chase searched for other ingredients and utensils. When the strawberries were all clean, the deaf girl started to slice them into neat pieces. The only one in the kitchen now working on smoothies was Cherry, who seemed to ignore all the pie-making going on around her.

Leo smiled as he heard bodies in the kitchen, reaching over to grab a few strawberries to slice. "Sasha can you hand me a knife please? Just a little one. Don't worry, I know what I'm doing." Leo said softly, knowing Sasha would be hesitant to give a blind kid a knife. But in the year that Leo had been blind he learned a few tricks and was confident he could slice them without getting blood all over the berries.

"You sure about that, Leo?" Sasha asked, grabbing a spare knife and carefully handing it to her friend. "Be really careful with that. I don't want you to cut off a finger or something." She actually hoped he did know what he was doing, but it was possible. If Leo had to stay home while his brother worked, he must have learnt how to cook on his own. That would involve handling a knife.

Leo smiled and took the knife into his hands. He held the strawberry against the cutting board and gently placed the side of the blade against his knuckles so he knew where his knife was at all times. Leo slowly sliced the green stem off of the strawberry first, before standing it on the flat side and slicing down the berry. "See? I told you I knew what I was doing." he said with a grin.

Sasha grinned back as she sliced the strawberries with him. "Looks like I got worried for nothing," she said. She put the sliced strawberries in a bowl and couldn't help but watch Chase as he prepared the crust of the pie.

Leo was glad he could put her mind at ease, he was able to do more than people usually thought if they would just give him a chance. "Oh don't mention it, took me a few sliced fingers to get it right but I eventually caught the hang of it." he said with a small laugh, reaching over for another few strawberries to slice. Even if he had to slice the berries slower than Sasha, he would do so just to save his fingers. "How is everything going over there Chase?" he called, hearing the man rustling about behind him.

"The crust is almost ready. Just need to flatten it in a few more places," Chase replied, maneuvering the pie crust on the container into a semi-professional design. "Alright. It's ready. How are those strawberries?" He was rather proud of his work. The pie crust looked at least edible. He took a look at the bowl where the sliced strawberries were. "Looks good. Ready to put them in?"

Leo shook his head. "I think we have to add a little sugar in them and use a fork to smash them just a little. What does the recipe say?" he asked curiously, remembering how his family made strawberry shortcake and thinking a pie was made in a similar fashion.
