Lark was put on her bed to get some rest before Devon came home so he wouldn't worry about her to much, Lark wanted to greet him best she could when he did come home. As lark was sleeping she looked so innocent and peaceful

Devon wasn't getting much from Lark, but he could still tell when she was asleep.
"Mom, I'm going home. I'll take care of the rest tonight at home," he said, storming past."
"Don't break anything in that house!" she called a warning after him. She shook her head and looked down at her desk, ignoring the questioning look of the human employees.
She was worried sick though. Her sons decision were not her business now that he was grow, but she was still his mother. She knew confrontation with alpha didn't work well, but she had to do something.
She warned Kaleb that Devon was coming for starters. He was not to be in the house.

Kaleb had just put Lark to bed and after covering her up he sat in the chair that his son used when he comes in late at night to assure Lark's continued existence. After the rouge incident he couldn't blame him, no wolf she should have to experience their mate die and the pain that it causes but he was thankful that Lark's soul had returned to him to stop his sons pain and the tragedy that was sure to follow. After being seated for a few minutes he got his wife's message about his son rushing home, he sighed and headed outside to wait for him. Knowing he have hell to pay now.

Devon's car entered the drive way, engine a dull roar that die quickly. he stormed for the door and wretched it open. quick as a whip he was up the stairs entering Lark's room. She was asleep and he paused. He looked down at her. She looked like an angel sleeping there. He relaxed just a bit and almost smiled.
He gentle checked her head and got angry all over again, especially when he saw all the bruised covering her.
Movement caught his eyes outside the widow. He could see his father out there. Forgoing doors, he opened the window and hopped out.
"I asked you to take care of her." he snarled.

Lark stirred in her sleep as Devon was checking her over for serious injury and to asset what injuries she did, something she might not have allowed so easily while she was awake because she wouldn't have wanted him to worry and get angry and start a fight she groaned a bit as Devon opened the window and left the cool air come into the room.

Kaleb turned as he heard his son behind him remaining calm in the face of his anger. "I did. She's fine nothing serious just a bump and a mild concussion. It was an accident these things happen as you well know, she be up and going again in a day or two." his father said as way of explanation he didn't want to admit that this happened as a result of him testing the girl yet again

Devon crossed his arms, stiff as a board. "Oh? And the fact that her cover fire completely disappeared has nothing to do with you?" he asked. "I guess I should be glad it wasn't a real battle, or she would have died!" he shouted. "Forgive me if I'm overreacting when I once again have Lark injured in bed! She deserves better than that!"
He took a menacing step forward.

Kaleb growled both at the step forward and at the fact that Devon felt the need to sent a spy after them, he just had to wonder who it was perhaps Fredrick? It seemed likely bet he's just laughing himself to death were ever he is. "You know I would have never done such a thing in a life or death situation! and yes I do think you are overacting to send a spy when she asked you not to interfere for this very reason! She does deserve better, she deserves better then our world! I'm but I had to know if she could handle the hardships that came with being alpha female, and do you what she did splendidly! She lead the team and we won because of her! You should be proud of her not out here shouting your head off!" He said all but saying he did test her again

Kaleb had something on him there. Devon felt a stab of guilt for ignoring Lark's wishes. She would be disappointed in him if she ever found out. but he could stand to show his father that he was right.
"I.. It... That's irrelevant!" he fumed, loosing coherency.
He looked away as his elder continued, because he was still right and he hated it. His own guilt grew.
He was proud of her. Very proud and surprised to see such strength in her. Even if it was just a game. A part of him knew she had it in her. She had survived much with him and the wolves. And he agreed. He hated that he dragged Lark into his violent world. He was half furious with himself that he would always be dragging her into something dangerous. He just wanted to rip something apart in his rage. And he knew she would hate seeing that.
He glared at Kaleb, form rippling in his anger. He would have jumped him then but his previous thought was what made him decide to turn a rip a branch off the nearest tree instead. He leaned against the tree trying to calm down.
His wolf was protective and vicious, and being a werewolf made that hard to control. But it also brought out the darker side of human nature. That obsessiveness and murderous rage. If he couldn't control himself was he really fit to the King of all of the weres? What was wrong with him?
"I. Am. Proud." he growled, voice clipped as he struggled for control. He wanted to fight Kaleb, but the man was still his father. I would be wrong. Lark would not be pleased. In fact, shed blamed herself in some way.
"I. HATE.... all of this. She deserves better than violence and stupid tests." He closed his eyes trying to take deep breathes.
Devon still didn't turn his back to Kaleb, or take his burning yellow eyes off him.

Kaleb sighed choosing to take a small step back from his son in case he did change his mind and lunge at him in his rage. "Yes she does, and if both of you were as connected as you are I would suggest giving her up and letting her go back to the human world but since that's impossible then show her the best of this world she has yet to see it." Kaleb told his son wisely "Now I promise no more tests as long as you promise her not to ignore her wishes, now get up there and keep an eye on her like the doctor ordered." The old king said before disappearing in the woods for a few hours

Devon stood by the tree for some time, breaking the branch he ripped off into smaller pieced to help with his anger issue. He wasn't above loosing his temper, but nearly his self control? It has been years since he last threw such a fit. He needed to get his priorities sorted out. Or else his position and many peoples safety could be in jeopardy.
Plus, if he couldn't get himself back into both ruling and running his company, things could go down hill fast. And if he was so violent, how could he show Lark the good in his world?
He sighed and rubbed his face. Apparently he wasn't done learning to do his duties. His pride and childish grudge against his father would cost him one day. He wasn't a testosterone driven teenage anymore. He needed to stop acting like one.
Finally, he leap up and grabbed the window sill to reenter Lark's room. He closed it behind him and sat back to watch over Lark.

Lark awaked an hour or so after Devon's confutation with his own father, which if she would have heard any of that it would have truly hurted her emotional and she would have felt the need to jump in the middle. Which would have been dangerous all to come to his father's defense and try to stop their fighting like she did every time it seemed that way. It might have been a little to soon for her to wake up but a large part of her ignored that because she wanted to greet Devon and lessen his worry about her incase he saw the bump. To stop the fight that had already happened without her knowledge. "Hello you, when did you get home." she said groggily turn her head slowly to face him, while being thankful that it was dark in her room because she didn't think she could handle the light just yet.

Devon shrugged. "I got off a few hours early. I figured I'd come check on you." he said. He looked down at her, his eyes still bright gold from the rage he had been in earlier, but the look in them was gentle.
"That's quite a bump you got. And some good bruises on your arms." he remarked. He still was not pleased with that.

Lark winced a little as he mentioned her injuries and after she reached up to touch the bump on her head, she pulled her hand away as it cause her headache to come back. "I'm ok, you didn't have to do that, I should have been more careful like you said, I don't think I would have be this banged up if I paid attention more and made sure Kaleb had, ammo to cover me but I guess he ran out, it's kinda funny really, I mean he ran out of ammo when he showed me how to save it." Lark told him she didn't even know his farther stopped covering her on purpose and yet she was taking the blame for it anyway as was in her nature

Devon looked away. "Yeah. Really odd." he grumbled. He got up so he could move the chair closer to her bed.,
"You should rest more if you need to. I can bring you something to eat if you want it later."
He leaned back and looked around. There was a medicine container on the nightstand. Kaleb must have picked it up while bringing Lark home. Picking it up, it seemed to be just a mild pain killer.
"This will probably help with the headache. I'll get you some water." He stood up to go to the bathroom for a moment.
He returned with a small paper cup of water.

"I'd like that." She told him at the comment about the food, even as she wondered why he was grumbling but she just wrote it off as his concern for her not the fact that he knew the truth about what happened. Lark took the water and the pill from him yawning. "I don't think I'm cut out for paintball, I got the worse hits and the one on my side is pretty bad, the wind got knocked out me with that one." She told him drifting off not knowing she made a slip up and said something to set his temper off again.
