Lt. Brookman
The XV-22 commander suit with missile pods, plasma rifle and flamer.

XV-8 Crisis suits.

XV-8 Crisis suit landing after making a jump.

The new Imperial Guard heavy weapons team.

The new customisable commander feature.

Now then, before people start to b***h about "overpowered this and that", GTFO. Play it before you open that goddamn hole of yours to whine about it. Most Tau infantry have to remain stationary in order to fire their weapons, which are single shot mostly. Pulse carbines and rifles are single shot. You can only have THREE XV-8 Crisis Suits. Tau have a faster recharge on their jetpacks then other races with jump capabilities, which is logical as the Tau greatly benefit from jumping in and out of hotspots.

Since I havent played it yet, I cant whine, but im all for the Tau being a bit over power, but here as you describe them they sound under equipted. They can only shoot if stationary, that sucks, they suck in CC, only 3 frickin crisis suits...*sigh* there goes my dream of complete gundam annihilation.

Listen chap, if there is one thing I hate with on-line communities it's people that rant and b***h about stuff they know next to nothing about. My advice, play it before yon even think about shouting piss and s**t. 9/10 times they shout crap that useless or has no merit.

True, so friggin true. At the DoW files on the demo download, the entire comments section is filled with really irritating rants! Atleast be literate and understand that this isnt the TT and isnt supposed to be a carbon copy of it!!! stressed

Some people also said the Tau had a chinese-ish french-ish accent, so does that mean they sound like in fire warrior?

A question: Can you only customize the campaign commanders, or can you make your own for Skirmishes and the like?

Sorry, couldn't resist. whee

Also, I hope that the demo is not in any way indicative of the final result, and the only reason that units like Kroot hounds are so insanely strong is that you have about 5 kinds of units against Tier 3 Space Marines...

hehe
if its french ish chinese, then its french canadian!
thats gonna sound real ugly...

If it is that then they will sound just like in firewarrior, I dont mind, the voices in firewarrior didnt bug me at all mrgreen .

Playing as necron will be kinda odd, im used to hearing my units reply back to me...

so they are supposed to be silent then?
I guess it should be that way cause they are too stupid to talk

Were it possible then I would rip out some throats over TCP/IP. Or just open an artery or two, I'm not picky.

You can think of all kinds of crap that can happen in the game. Or you can wait for the game to be released. I guess the latter wont be the case. DEMO IS NOT FINAL REPRESENTATION OF THE GAME, says so in the installer and the readme! file.

oh I wish i could add to this discussion but I cannot add anything relevant to the demo experience wise until monday emo

From what I've heard, the Tau can't hold their own in melee so it sounds like it balances out. After all, everyone else at least has halfway decent melee, so...

I hate all of you that got the demo working. Mine complains about the window installer. I'm going to have to try it on the other comp, which doesn't work half the time for some reason. Gah.

no not all of us, a few, I got it to work on my home computer, but was snatched away before I could play it, and it wont work on this one...
But yeah, even though It would be tough, have normal troups at the start of the game just charge into CC, except for when there are those kroot. Hey what happens when carnivores eat dead corpses Lt? Does it replenish their health or increase their maximun health altogether?

Before people with less thought start crapping it out in poorly typed and non-cohesive lines, here's what I've gathered from the demo:

- All new race units are confirmed (Eldar will get Harlequins and the Imperial Guard will get heavy weapon teams - shot shows an autocannon and a crew of two in a small sandbag emplacement)
- NO Necrons in the demo, at least not playable as far as I could gather
- Several high tier Tau units are not included in the demo, which wont be revealed until the full game is bought
- Voice acting is good and not in a stereotypical asian undertone as was done with Fire Warrior, only thing missing are the Kroot sound bits.

Tau units!
- Tau drone functions as construction unit, sounds like a Cylon from Battlestar Galatica whee
- Tau Commander with a shitload of great weapon upgrades (starts with burst cannon, which can be turned into flamer, then plasma rifle and the extra option of adding both missile pods and a fusion blaster)
- Tau stealth team with burst cannons, entire squad can have fusion blasters
- Vespid Stingwing Brood, not available in demo
- Tau Fire Warriors, small squad of six, one commander and several gun drones
- Tau pathfinders with carbines and a markerlight ability
- Tau Broadsides, not available in demo
- Tau Battle suits with bad a** animations for walking and jumping with the jetpacks (can we say "we land heavily!") Has a burst cannon and fusion blaster, which can be upgraded into a flamer or missile pod
- Kroot Carnivore squad, which can eat the dead in order to boost their health
- Kroot hounds pack
- Krootox, not available in demo
- Kroot Shaper, not available in demo
- Great Knarloc, not available in demo
- Gun Drone squadron, not available in demo
- Devilfish transport, not available in demo
- Skyray missile support
- Hammerhead tank, not available in demo
- A special drone that can attack with smaller drones, not available in demo
- Ethereal, not available in demo, who has special abilities that benefit the whole army

- A preview shot showed a pre-campaign Blood Ravens captain with just red armour, a chain sword and a bolter next to the shot of the same captain after the campaign, with golden decorations all round, a thunder hammer, Iron halo and a meltagun.

There's probably more, but this is all I have for now, enjoy.

yes i see that, but I was asking for you to be more clear. A simple "boosting of health" can have multiple meanings, for instance regaining health, increasing maximum health, Temporarily give them a health bonus and so on.

I think he means it does both.
