If Tokeru was shocked then Edith was shocked times one-hundred. This had been so random, so out of no where. And to think that he still did not know that she had been getting it on with Tokeru for most of the time she had been here at the Shadowstalkers. She hated this, why did she have to fall in love with two people? Why was she being forced to pick? Why couldn't one of them just find someone else so she did not have to be the b***h?
"R-Reno..." she said, not taking the ring box at first, a little too dumbfounded to have remembered that she was supposed to take it, look at it and hug him and say yes like in all the movies. "s**t. I really don't know. I mean... It's so random and there's a lot of s**t happening... I'm ******** up enough as it is and now I have this to top my list of things to decide..." She really did not know what to answer, and only after she had explained herself did she even dare to look at the ring, yet she did not take it.

Tokeru forgot pretending to look for a gas leak when he heard Edith's answer. He walked up to her, placed his hand on her shoulder. "My little temptress, if you want to choose Reno, I will understand. I hope you two are very happy together."
He gave her a quick hug, and walked back towards the child.

Just great, now she felt like real s**t. Was Tokeru that willing to give her up, or was he just trying to give her an easier time? She was not sure that anything could help sway her decision. Edith was actually trying to think of how it would be fair. Reno had been with her first, he'd helped her through a lot, he'd confessed his love to her, and now he was proposing to her. Tokeru and her had only known eachother for a short while yet they seemed almost inseparable. Both had risked their lives for her, one had stayed outside in the rain and almost caught pneumonia because of it. They were both funny, she enjoyed both of their company.
"s**t," was the only thing Edith could say. Then she remembered what she should have told Reno, what she was hoping to avoid saying until after her brother's wedding. "Reno... I have something to tell you. And I'm not sure if it's going to affect whether or not you'll reconsider what you just offered me." She wanted him to know. He had a right to, didn't he?

Tokeru felt his hopes rise, but then he forced them to fall again. I love you Edith, but if being with Reno will make you happy, then I don't want to stand between both of you. If you choose me, I want it to be because you genuinly want to be with me, not because I forced your hand. I don't want you to be with me like that. And i'm sure you can here me right now. That doesnt matter to me. If you can hear me, then i'm sure you know how I feel, and that your happiness is what is important to me. I love you and I never want you to leave, but if it will make you happy, then I want you to do what you need.

Yeah, Edith seemed to have developed a fairly strong psychic bond with Tokeru, likely because he had been there when she had first developed it and he was around her a fair amount of the time she had been here. It was not really any wonder that she had heard his thoughts now though she had to strain to hear bits and pieces of his message. Frick, her wants, her wants, her wants... Of course she could not ask why she had to choose, she had set herself up for this, but never had she ever predicted, thought, or dreamed that someone would ask to marry her of all people.
She was the closest you got to a crackpot without actually smoking crack. Edith was your living messed up reject that had been hurled into the recycle pile one too many times so that even if she was recycled, she had defects. She was your water that was run then sent down the pipe back to be filtered but it developed some sort of parasite that was smaller than even the filters.
This was her first attempt ever to talk to someone through her mind and she was not sure how it would work out. Hell, for all she knew, she could be sending the message to Reno by accident. Tokeru, I heard every damned word. Out of everyone's voice in my head that I've heard, yours is the easiest to hear. I really don't know what to do... I'm not sure that I'm ready to be tied down, married to someone else. I'm not sure if I'll ever be. And I don't think anyone should have to sink as low as to ask me to marry them... Ugh... I seriously don't know, Angel...

Tokeru did not hear everything that Edith sent, but he got the gyst of it, the general Idea. She was not sure. How the world would be a better place when decisions like this were as simple as the movies. Even in soap opera's, the ones destined to be together always ended up. How he wished the world were like that right now, but unfortunatly, it wasnt.
My little temptress. Any person that would convince you to marry them would be the luckiest man in the world, and if they didn't know how lucky they were, then i would personally go and kick their asses. Beat them untill they realized how lucky they were. Edith, just do what your heart tells you. And don't say your heart is dead, because it is not. Your heart is the greatest heart I have ever seen. Your heart melted mine. Before you came along, all I could do was kill. And now, even if you choose Reno, you will have changed my life for the better. Just do what your heart tells you, and don't overthink it. Either way, I will love you.

Edith knew that either way she would be disappointing one of them and she still had no idea how to make her decision. Reno was as old as her brother was and she was eighteen, there was a seven year difference in age between them and yet they had clicked. However, her and Tokeru were closer in age, he was twenty, she would be nineteen soon. Age was not what was going to decide this though. Damn age to hell, she did not care, love was love and age had nothing to do with it, even if young women with old men seemed really wrong.
Then it hit her. This might be able to make her decision that much easier even though it would mean shattering disappointment for one of them. Reno, Reno had always seemed to be a people person, he could make friends really easily and he would probably have no problem finding someone else. Tokeru, however, on the other hand, did not have as much confidence in himself and others failed to see the good in him. People just assumed that he was some dumbass who did not give a damn, but he did.
Reno had done so much for her and he had been the first of the two to meet her, share with her, help her through the thick and thin. Yet they had not clicked nearly as much as she and Tokeru had. She appreciated everything Reno had done for her, yet her heart told her that Tokeru needed her more and that Reno would find someone that was better for him. From the get-go she had told him that there was someone better out there for him and now was her real chance to prove it.
'Angel,' she attempted to communicate to Tokeru, 'I think that I have made my decision... God I feel like a b***h, I feel so terrible and either way someone's going to get hurt... Maybe I should just not remain with either of you. Maybe I should just... Angel, I think that you and I were meant to be. After a few moments of self-evaluating I've realized that I don't love Reno intimately. I love him, but not intimately. I think I've realized that my love for Reno is platonic. That I see him as a best bud that I never want to see hurt. Hell, I feel so confused.'

Tokeru's knees almost gave out, and he needed to support his weight on the bed that the child was sleeping in, almost spilling the child out of the bed. He wanted to rush over to his little temptress, pick her up and kiss her untill the base crumbled around them, but Reno was there, and in respect for this poor soul that was going to get his heart broken, he did nothing. He sat down before his legs gave out completly, saddened for Reno, but ecstatic that Edith chose him. He wanted to say something, but could not find the words. He wanted to shout something from the rooftops for her, but he could not think of anything to say. So he thought it instead.
You have made me the luckiest, happiest person in the entire universe. I don't deserve you, but I will love you with all I am capable of. I will protect you when you need to be protected, and let you fly when you want to stretch your wings. I will never lock you in a cage, but I will instead hope that whenever you fly, you will return the next day. I love you, and I always will.

Edith knew that this was going to be hard to break to Reno but the more she thought about it, the more it seemed to make sense to her. She did not love him the same as she did Tokeru, she did not love Reno in the sense that she wanted to be married to him and live the rest of her life with him. She loved him as her dearest and closest friend. Their love had been confused, but now she knew. She had it straightened out, she knew whom she loved as her lover and whom she loved as her most treasured friend.
'Angel,' she said into his mind, finding that this grew easier and more instinctive each time, 'you will not need to hope that I will return to you. You will know that I will return to you, no matter what. I will love you and I will only stretch my wings so long as I know that you are there feeling the freedom with me. I will hold you tightly when you need me most, I will listen when you have something to say. I will love you with every ounce of my being, I will love you with more intensity than anything could ever hope to radiate. Though I am dead, when I'm with you, I know, I feel that I am alive again and I know that one day I will be.'

Edith had completely forgot about the wedding and now she was scrambling around, pulling at her hair and yelling various things from cusses to jibberish. "I gotta get a move-on, I've probably missed all the important parts!! Guh!" She zipped off, glad that her dress was made well so that she had some freakin' movement in it. "I'm sorry guys!" And with that she was gone.

As Eden left without taking the ring or saying yes or no Reno just stood there with his mouth hanging open in total shock. He knew what this ment. If he didnt he would really be considered a dumb-a**.He gave Tokeru a death glare. That moment just now had confirmed everything he needed to know."YOU! This is your fault! I cant believe I actually agreed with Eden staying here! I should have been like Sethe and dissapprooved! Then she wouldnt have fallen for whatever stupid a** sob story you filled into her head!" He reached into his coat and pulled ouut his Desert Eagle and pointed it to Tokeru's head."Out of any girl you could have had, why did it have to be Eden!? Id love nothing more then to blow your ******** head off right now!" He finger touched the trigger and came close to pulling it. But slowly he moved it away from the trigger and lowered his gun."But I wont. Not today at least. You took away the only woman I really ever loved Tokeru. And I swear to God that Im going to kill you. One way or another, Im sending you to your grave. You won Eden over, but as a secondary prize you won my everlasting hatred and a death sentance." As Reno walked passed Tokeru he stopped and whispered to him.'I know what you are, Ive worked with your kind all to often. And I can always find a way to kill you. Enjoy life while you still have it.' And with that Reno left the room and left the Stalker base never to return till the day he would kill Tokeru. ((Exit to Hunter's))

Tokeru chuckled as Reno promised to kill him. "Get in line reno" he whispered after the hunter had left. "There are hundreds of people that promised that before you, and dozens left that need to try. If you want to kill me, you will need to surpass me, and unless you have hatred as strong as mine, it will never happen. Everything I do, is to culminate in the termination of Draegan, even caring for this child. Speaking of chilren, i wonder where savage and kyley are."

Kyley, within the few minutes in which she had been riding around up top Savage's back had come to love her new giant companion. "You're the best kitty ever! I likes tigers! I think Midnight is afraid of the big tiger." She smiled, petting Savage as he walked around with her riding him like a horse. "Yay horsie! You're a silly tiger, doing a horse's job!" She giggled and petted Savage some more.

Tokeru looked at the child on the cot, and sighed. "Where the hell are those doctors. I'm the one paying them, I'm the one that has to stay here? Why? Unless there's some massive emergency, I don't think anything warrants watching this child alone. SAVAGE, GET OVER HERE. SUPPER TIME."

Kyley became somewhat frightened as the lazy tiger suddenly went from not even a mile per hour to nearly fifty. She held onto his fur, having a surprinsingly strong grip for such a small child. "Tiger! Slow down! You're scaring Midnight more! Plea-" She was cut off as the tiger crouched and took one soaring leap from the entrance of the infirmary to Tokeru's forefront. And next thing poor Savage knew was he had a screeching child squealing in his ear. "THAT WAS FUN!! AGAIN MR. STRIPES, AGAIN!!" Yes, Savage's official name in Kyley's world was Mr. Stripes.
