Cat moved and swerved between a couple of cars that were stuck at a stop sign. Moving off to the side she hopped up onto the guard rail and rode it instead to avoid traffic and people. She hopped off when she got to an intersection however and took another turn onto a less populated street. In truth the only reason she accepted the challenge was for a reason to actually use more speed in her skates, otherwise she wouldn't have worried about it. She didn't bother to look behind her to see how close Charles was, mainly because she wasn't about to take her eyes off the road.

Rick kept putting more of his leg power into the skates. The wheels were rapidly heating as he ran and glided. He knew that soon he'd be at a speed fast enough forward that there wouldn't be enough downward pressure to stop the wheels as he ran. He knew that was his limit. But that being said, it meant he was going pretty fast. "Damn, Cat...Are you sure you want to be doing that?" He was only speaking to himself quietly, almost a whisper. He watched closely; things would turn in his favor soon enough.

Cat looked up at a sign just in time to catch a lamp post and curve herself on to the street for the pickup. Crouching she turned side ways and dug the wheels into the pavement, sliding into a stop. Going up to the door she knocked. "Here for a pickup!" she called. There was a movement inside and the door opened. The occupant stepped out and handed the package with the payment. "Thank you, have a nice day." Cat smiled and waved before placing the package in her bag and applying pressure to her skates. After about 15 seconds she released it once again and sped off up the street.

Rick made sure to play the rules nicely. He reached the destination fully before again taking off. He even stopped, timing himself to have stayed the same length of time as Cat did, then gave the person a nod, and was off after her. It took some time before he reached his max speed again, though. He wasn't necessarily gaining, but in his eyes you could see the enjoyment of the plot twist ready to happen. He could faintly had heard the output fluxuations. "I do think her batteries are dying out...I knew she didn't want to do that..." With a sudden burst of inspiration, he started stomping the ground with every hit, just barely making that releasing pressure, and ran off faster than before. It was with much difficultly, but he surpassed his max speed. Now he could do nothing more but glide at the slowly decaying speed. He, too, was fluxuating between max and a bit beyond it.

((her skates don't run on batteries.))
Cat continued up the street and soon turned onto the street that went across town. It was as straight shot really. The only really obstacle were the cars in the street. This just added to the excitement though. Cat had reached the point at which she no longer cared who won, or even if she made it on time. She was just enjoying the feeling of almost flying. This could easily be switched to actual flying however, and looking on ahead to the traffic backed up she was going to have to. Once again she hopped up on teh guard rail and rode it for a bit, applying more pressure to the heel of her skate, which gave her another burst of speed. Just before she reached teh end of the guard rail she released the pressure and used the momentum to launch herself up and over the traffic.

Rick took note of the flying idea. He too, would fly. He sped on up a ramp, and off he went, flying above the traffic. He lightly tapped the rooves of the cars that he hadn't quite cleared, and slid down the windshield of one to continue his forward movement. He let his legs still, gliding, and pulled back a lever that built up energy, and in one burst it was released. He shot on through between cars and made it almost right next to Cat again. It looked like her tricks were out as there seemed to be only a few seconds to the destination with her supplementing stored energy almost completely exhausted. He kept running making the final advance he needed. Victory seemed ensured.

Justyn lost track of the kid. How could the kid have been faster than a panther? But alas, he did have a hefty head-start. It's easier to run than to chase. He saw two skaters whooshing by. It was Cat and Charles. Such a thrill it must have been. Justyn stayed out of sight of them while he reminisced the old times. He remember when the two of them shared that thrill, even though he had no real skill. Charles was good at it though! He zipped by closing on Cat easily, and she had some great skates! But he could tell something just wasn't right about the way Charles was skating, but what was it? It wasn't that he was cheating, but something hinted he was planning something. He couldn't feel that there was anything wrong with it, so he dismissed it as nothing.

Just as things neared and end and he was sure that Cat was out of the loop, he assured himself the victory in his mind. A single wheel on his skates, symmetrically, jammed under the pressure he put on them. Without those two wheels he slowed just enough that Cat reached the destination just a hair faster than Rick did. He leaned back on his heels, then to his sides to a complete stop looking on at what was about to happen. "Looks like I lost. I guess you don't owe me that kiss, huh?" He stood out of her way so she could complete her job.

Ah, so obvious it was now. He should've known he was planning this. The race was close, and it seemed that Charles would've won under the current flight path, but it was just a turn of seemingly bad luck that he lost. Seeing no need, and not knowing the circumstances of the race itself, or the bet, he wandered back away elsewhere. He was going to try and find that boy again...He was the only one that Justyn didn't know who wouldn't freak out at the sight of a panther. He questioned that statement, though. Did he really not know Justyn, and did Justyn really not know who that kid was? Was it possible that they met before?

Turbine flopped onto the top of Cat's purse. All that speed and turning and jumping and whatnot had left him incredibly dizzy.

((My brain is currently overloaded @_@))
Cat skid to a stop just in front of Charles as he stopped. "Guess so." she grinned, then leaned forward a bit, out of breath. "That was really fun, too bad your wheeled jammed." This was said between breaths. Looking at her bag she smirked at Turbine. "Sorry about that, forgot you were in there." she gently pet his head a bit then moved him to grab a water bottle from her bag, as well as the package. She handed the bottle to Charles then went up to the door, finishing the delivery.

"Impressive work." he commented. He held out the bottle for her to take, not needing any for himself. "That was more fun than I've had in a long time, I at least owe you for it, don't I?" He smiled, seemingly disappointed as his wheels' jamming.

Once she finished with giving the package to the recipient she turned to Charles and smirked. "Not really, racing me was enough, but I do have a question for you." She sat on teh curb and removed her skates, the bottoms of which had a crack running through them that wasn't going to hold up for teh skate back.

Rick took a seat beside her, and gave his full attention in a caring way. "Yes? What is it?" He asked, with innocent eyes. He sat close enough to show he cared, but far enough to respect her space, and gave a quite charming smile as he listened patiently.

"Since I've met you I've been trying to figure you out. Get a sense for the type of person you are and that sort of thing. For some reason, I can't do that." She paused as she put teh skates in her bag, then turned to look at him. "Why is that?"
