"Don't worry," Feng giggled as she sat down at the table, making sure she was firmly on her seat before changing back. Her tail wagging back and forth as if she was swinging her legs.
"We had an active day, so we should be good."
Ryu nodded at that with a smile, his sister was right about that, being active did help with appitites.

"I understand your father's leaving in the morning," Ulani commented, appearing quite thoughtful. "Ulrich asked if I might locate the slavers for him."
She hadn't done it yet, but she didn't know if she should do it tonight yet or in the morning ...

Ryu nodded, "Yea, that's what we're told. We're suppose to check in with him before he leaves."
Whenever that might be, but it'll probably be first thing in the morning anyhow he figured.

"I can tell him where to go," Aliya offered eagerly, but her mother shook her head even before she could finish her sentence.
"You can't use the crystal," she told her daughter firmly, "and it's best if I show him, rather than just tell him. No, I'll head over with the three of you in the morning - or four, really, Adonai's going to be going as well."
Beside Aliya, Adonai half-glowered, half-grinned. He was excited about the prospect, but also wary. He had never been to the ranch, after all.

"Huh?" Feng looked a bit confused.
Since she wasn't sure how Ulani was going to show Donovan how to get there or where it was for that matter. So it left her, and Ryu no doubt a bit confused.
"How do you do that?"

"Mum's got a crystal," Aliya began excitedly, but Ulani interrupted her quickly.
"Like Aliya, I have the Wishsong," she told Feng and Ryu, "and with that I can create images to show him landmarks of where he needs to go."
She sighed.
"Ideally, he should have someone else with the Wishsong go with him as well," she murmured, "but I could not spare the crystal anyways. No, this way will have to do."

"Oh.... I see... I think... well we've never seen Wishsong, but I think I know what you mean," Ryu murmured thoughtfully, "I'm sure it'll be fine, just give him the general direction and the landmarks. The last time I checked he did have a very good memory."
Anyone who could recall even the most minicule of details because it was his job had to be.

Aliya looked disappointed, but she kept quiet as Ulani nodded at Feng.
"Then that's what I'll do," she nodded. "Then that's settled. Good."
She looked thoughtful suddenly. "By the way, did he choose someone to go with him?" she aksed.

Ryu blinked and then recalled the coversation from lunch, it was kind of hard to forget since that spurred Lin wanting to find out if Feng's description of Halmir's speech was true.
"Ulrich suggested that Halmir go with him, and Halmir did tell us before we left the ranch that he was going to go with Donovan," Ryu replied back.

Aliya shot her father a dirty look, but Ulrich looked rather pleased with himself.
"He's the best fighter we have, even if he is a bit odd," he defended himself against Aliya's unspoken accusation.
"He's not odd, he's just different," Aliya frowned in reply.

Ryu didn't miss the look, somehow he had a feeling that Ulrich might have taken an exception to the way Halmir spoke. Even though as far as he could tell the man didn't mean it in a bad way, though that could just be him.
Granted it was a bit distrubing.
And yes the man was odd.
"Well, at least Donovan will have help, otherwise he'll try to do everything himself!" Feng spoke up with a smile.

"He does strike me as that sort of person," Ulani agreed, "but then, a lot of people are like that. Unfortunately, if you're not familiar with this world and the languages at the very least, you're not going to get far."
She looked at Ulrich thoughtfully. "Perhaps someone should teach him at least one form of elvish," she commented.
Aliya just ate her dinner, still pouting at her father's view of Halmir.

"Hmm...." Feng munched thoughtfully on her sandwich.
He did have a good point in that, though it was hard to imagine that Donovan would learn anything more, though if he did. He struck her as the time of bookworm, now there was a funny thought.
"He would go for it," she giggled.

"Maybe I can teach Cindy a bit, too," Adonai offered timidly, surprising his parents and sister. "When I go over to help her with the medicine, I mean."
Aliya blinked at he brother. "You're actually going to leave the valley?" she asked incredulously, her disbelief etched in her face.

Ryu chuckled as he finished off his sandwich, "Aliya, your mom mentioned that when she said she was going to the Ranch herself to show Donovan where he needs to go."
Was it that surprising? Even though he had gotten the hint that Adonai was shy of them, he chalked it up to the fact there were two mers on the floor at the time and a Neko in the doorway.
