At least she had calmed-down. He'd have felt bad if he didn't play with her, but they really had to go. It was hard enough to get three people on the plane, let alone six and two cats.
"Get the crate," Dari said, still kissing the kitten's head and walking toward the living room where it stood. "Just a minute," he said to Kevin.
Michael appeared in the kitchen doorway. "I'm ready to go when you are," he said with a soft smile. He still felt awkward going on a family trip.

Cody went and got the cat carrier. "She won't be very happy," he murmured. Her first trip, though! They really were like new parents. "Maybe a baby Benadryl would help?" He suggested. "I don't want her too upset... do you think her ears will hurt?"
Maia turned to Michael and smiled. "Want to ride with me?" She asked. Did he want to possess her for the flight?
"They're just about ready," Kevin said, returning to Toby.

"Sure, we can try that." Dari set Lily in the baby-blue carrier, grateful that she was too small to really make a fuss to make him feel even worse. He closed the door. "Just stick it in some cheese." and yes, her ears were probably going to hurt.
"No, thank you," Michael said. "I'd rather wander." He had never been on a public plane before, and he didn't have to be visible or tangible through the duration. He could just float around and observe. The same went for the airport where he had never not been a VIP.
Toby nodded. "Alright." He took Peaches out of the car so they could wait inside in the warmth. The poor cat was still wide-eyed, but he wasn't making any noise. Yet.

Once in the cage, the kitten mewled and stuck her paw through the bars. She mewled again, and again. Cody got a piece of cheese from the fridge and offered it to her. She stuck a paw out to grab it, eating quietly.
"Oh? I'm sure you'll have fun," Maia gave him another smile.
"Do you think Peaches is okay?" Kevin asked, looking to the cat. "He's scared."

At least Lily seemed placated with the cheese. Dari smiled and reached a finger in to scratch behind her ear before picking up the crate.
"He'll be fine," Toby said. "He calms down once he realizes we're not going to the vet." His crate was rather larger than it had to be to keep him comfortable, just like Lily's. The only requirement was that they had to balance on a seat. "Alright, let's get going."
"I just have to put my stuff in Cody's car," Dari said, and he handed Toby the other cat as well so he could go about doing that.

"Oh, good," Kevin looked to Lily then. He poked a finger in to pet her. "Hi, kitty," he greeted. The kitten mewed and pawed at him. She mewed again, poking her paw out of the crate.
Maia left the house then. "I'm ready," she said. She'd set up the automatic feeder for the fish, they'd be fine.

Dari brought out his bags at one time, definitively ignoring the little paw sticking out of the crate. They didn't have a choice. She had to be locked up to travel. He packed up Cody's trunk, took one bag that wouldn't fit in Toby's, and took Lily's crate to sit in the passenger's seat.
Toby got into his own car and buckled up.
"This isn't gonna be like last time," he warned Kevin, "We're not going to get a private jet. We're flying with everyone else."

Cody climbed into the car and turned to smile at Dari. "Ready love?" He asked. "Or did you want to drive?" The kitten didn't seem to be reacting negatively to being in the car at least.
Maia climbed into the passenger seat, buckled up, and offered Kevin his 3ds. "You left this in the kitchen, i grabbed the charger for you, too."
"So... there'll be lots of people?" The kelpie asked, with a slight frown. "It'll be crowded!" He made a face. "Do I get to sit with you guys?" He paused when Maia handed him the 3ds. "Cool!" Kevin smiled and took it. "Thank you!"

"No, no. It's okay. I'll drive the ride back." That wouldn't be for a while, though. Not until after Christmas.
Back in Toby's car, the werewolf nodded. "Yeah, unfortunately. We have a group of seats together, though. It's a pretty big chunk of space for just us, and the cats have their own seats because they legally have to if they're not going in the cargo hold, so we can move around a bit. It's not so bad. It's only 5 hours-ish."

Cody nodded. Their first vacation together! He was excited. "Do you think it'll be snowing when we get there?" He asked. "Lily might like to see it." Hopefully it wasn't so deep that she'd get lost in it. That would be awful! ...Why had he even thought about that?
"Ugh. Lily is turning me into dadmode."
"I can teach you to play games," Kevin nodded. He guessed five hours wasn't so bad! He'd have his 3ds and could bother Dari to play it, too. "I'm glad Peaches is sitting with us, too."

"Hopefully not," Dari admitted, "It can start snowing once the plane lands if that's okay with everyone." He laughed then and shook his head. "Of course she is. She's our furbaby. I hope she doesn't get motion-sick."
"Yeah, I've heard too many horrible stories about the luggage compartment to want any animals down there. Mostly he'll have to stay in his crate, but I don't mind if someone wants to meet him. He's very chill. Lily, I have no idea yet."

"Sounds good," Cody agreed. He nodded then. "I never thought I'd dadmode," he admitted. "I'm so glad I found her," he said. They really were a family now.
"Lily likes to run around," Kevin said. "I don't think she'll be happy to be in a crate for five hours."

"Me too. I'm glad you chose her," Dari said. Maybe she had chosen Cody?
"Well, she won't have much of a choice," Toby said, "She can't be running around. If she wants to come out she'll have to be on a harness and I've never seen a cat like one of those." They'd bought one just in case, though.

Cody smiled. "When I met her, I knew she was the right one for us." He paused, looking to Dari. "You know, it was kind of like when I met you."
"Harnesses are even worse," Kevin said, and shook his head. Poor cat. "Hey, when we get there can we play in the snow?" He had never really seen snow. He'd only experienced the sloppy stuff that happened around his lake.

Toby meanwhile nodded to Kevin. "Yeah, of course. Hopefully we'll get a decent storm while we're there."
