Well, I'm going to be going out of state for my Grandmother's funeral this weekend, and won't be back until Wednesday. So, if he DOES decide to take commissions, I'm going to send you Ryugi's character refferences via PM so you can print em out and show him or something.

I'll let you know.

If I get free time during class, I might have him type out a message on my laptop (which I bring to school), then I'll just save it and post it here.

Hmmm, When I do do inking, I usually use sharpie and black pen, which hates me ^^;; But I recently purchased a book on how to ink panels, and it uses quill pens, not the old feathered ones, but the metal nibs and ink pots. His stuff looks a lot like it so I wondered if maybe he used something along those lines =o But that's pretty sweet. I'd defenitely be interested in a commish >_> And I'm impressed, that good and he's still in highschool? Dude's gonna' be insanely awesome in a couple years eek

He drew me personally as an anime character last year. If you guys are interested in seeing that picture, I'll go scan it right now and post it...if not thats cool.

But he was awesome last year when he drew me, and he improved alot in that short time. In a way im helping him by challenging him to draw commisioned things.

:shrugs: Like I told Ryugi, I'll let you know if he's taking commisions. Might post some thread up here if he gets serious about it.

Been trying to do something with this in paint and photoshop, still nothing because I suck.

A good tool to start learning is the beseir curve.

You said you sucked in Photoshop. If you want to line it in a relatively quick and save manner, learn how to use besier curves.

I thought those things were in Illustrator, not Photoshop.

Yeah, I'm just wondering what the hell it is.

They're in Photoshop as well, though it's simply referred to as "the line tool." I don't know if Illustrator actually names the beseir curve technique, but thankfully PSP does.

Besier curves are lines and curves made with your program of choice's line tool. The usual method is to click one point, then click your desired ending point- this will make a straight line. However, if you hold the end point and drag it, you can make curves. By learning to predict how the curve will react to your different pulls, you can line art.

I know it works like that in Illustrator, but I can't get Photoshop to bend the line itself, it just stretches the vector shape and makes it into a big black blob. I can't get it to bend the line itself.

Oh, that thing.

I think I'm better off zooming in and lining that way.

Unfortunately, the lines are so thick are retraced it makes everything a ******** up shape.

EDIT: It's called the pen tool.

Ryugi> If I think to go into Photoshop and remember the method, I'll tell you. I'd do it now, but I'm doing Kraun's order.

Fenrir> It's roundabout, which is why I don't like Photoshop too much- it's harder to approach. Anyway, there's a way to adjust the line style in the settings. F1 that or look up a tutorial.

Bleh.

I fail. I'd try using a mouse but it's right-handed. Touch-pad just isn't enough.

Try this method: First, change your airbrush/paintbrush tool to a thin, respectable line that you'd use if you wanted to manually brush-line the picture. Then choose the pen tool settings that when you go to line mode, creates the dotted line or whatever (I don't remember the settings). Create your lines and when you're finished, right-click so that a menu comes up. There should be something that is like "stroke selection," use that and use whatever tool you altered (airbrush/paintbrush).

That's probably why your lines are so ugly, because your stroke instrument has settings unsuitable for creating outlines.
