Atem nodded and left, excited because nobody was with him. He had had coffee once, but was so wound up from it Yugi had said it was probably a good idea if he didn't have any more until he could handle the caffeine. But Yugi wasn't here now to stop him, was he? Atem chuckled to himself as he went off to find coffee.
Seto had had to have stitches for his head, which had been done fairly quickly, and had gotten him a nice prescription of pain pills in the meantime. The left side of his forehead was numb, though, from the injection the doctor had given him, and he had been entertaining himself by raising just his right eyebrow, something he couldn't do before. He glanced up to see Atem speeding off to the coffee vendor, laughing rather evilly. He decided to approach him, gritting his teeth in remembrance of what had happened, but paused. No, direct anger wouldn't solve this. He would have to be crafty...
Atem jumped a little when Seto abruptly was next to him. "Ahhh! Seto!" He exclaimed, nearly having a heart attack. For one petrified moment he had thought that maybe Yugi had caught him getting coffee. "Why must you sneak up on me like that?! Ugh, you could have killed me..." He couldn't help but speak to Seto as though the man was still his priest; he had completely forgotten about the incident from earlier, it seemed. Seto raised his right eyebrow, glancing down at the two cups Atem held, one with coffee and the other with water.
"Hmm, so sorry." He said sarcastically, mocking a little bow. "I didn't mean to sneak up on you like that. I just wanted to... apologize for my behavior earlier." He said this through gritted teeth. "Mokuba says sometimes I should control my anger... Is there something I can do to make it up to you? Here, let me buy you some lunch." His rival had a blank look on his face, and Seto wondered if Atem had actually forgotten what had happened not minutes ago.
"Oh, sure, I guess, but can it wait? I have to get this to Rei." Atem said, shaking the water cup a little. "She just settled down and she says it's been an exhausting day, and I can't really sympathize with that, seeing as I didn't just give birth to two babies..." Seto gave him a funny look, and Atem laughed nervously. "Ahem, anyway... I appreciate your offer, I really do, but I've just got to go right now. If you really want to get me something, though, do you have any quarters? I just spent my last pocket money on the coffee and I want a candy bar." Candy was also another banned item, like the coffee.
"Ah, yes, let me see..." Seto fumbled through his pockets and came up with maybe a dollar in spare change. He dropped it on the floor purposefully, then frowned. "Oh, dear, I'm so clumsy..." He said absently, and Atem cheerfully got down on the ground to gather the lost coins, setting the cups on a nearby table. The water was for Rei, huh? Seto grinned as he fumbled quickly through his pockets, searching... Ah, yes. The pain medecine. He had bluntly requested very strong medicine, and had gotten a nice bottle of little pills. The instructions said no more than two every four hours. Eight would do nicely for Rei, wouldn't you say? As Atem continued to search for dimes, Seto popped open the bottle and shook out about eight pills, grinding them under his palm quickly and dumping the crushed pills into the water. He took a straw and managed to stir the drink just before Atem popped up, holding a handful of coins. "Oh, how nice, you found them all. You can keep that, I've really got to see what's up with Mokuba and my new niece."
"Hey, thanks!" Atem exclaimed happily, going over to the candy machine. He got himself a candy bar, and then managed to grab both cups and went back to Rei's room, holding his prizes proudly. "Hey, look, I've got it all!" He said, obviously pleased with himself, handing Rei the water before settling down and adding packet after packet of sugar to his coffee that he had stuffed into his pockets.
