Well, that was fun....except for something on the very outskirts of Wally's mind. It was bothering him. He had to talk to someone...someone he trusted.
Wally ran over to the girl's dorm and knocked softly on Cassie and Danielle's door. He was hoping to talk to Cassie, but it was getting late in the day...he didn't know if anyone would answer.

After her bath Cassie got into her pajamas. She then crawled into her bed and drifted off to sleep. It wasn't long before she was dreaming... but her dreams... would give her no rest. In her dreams she was a full grown woman... Wonder Woman in fact. The dead bodies of Hartley, Dani, Kori, and many others were around her. She was fighting a man covered head to toe in armor... and she was losing. At the end the armed figure killed her and then his helmet came of...
" C..C...C..Chris...why?"
She died and woke up with a start. Cassie was in a cold sweat. The dream... it was so real to her. Chris had killed her.
Cassie heard a soft knock at her door and went to answer it... her eyes still had a slight look of shock... she saw Wally in front of her.
" W...W..Wally..?"

Wally shifted from one foot to the other, nervously.
"Uh, h-hey, Cassie. Can we go talk somewhere...uh, private?"
Wally was a guy who was, to coin a term, impulsive. He didn't like dwelling on things too long. There was just so much in the world to focus on, that his attention span was roughly that of a fruit fly.
So when he did actually focus on something and mull it over for a while, it made him uncomfortable. And that was exactly how he felt right now.

*Chris was still pondering Cassie when something across the lake drew his attention. Standing on the opposite shore and staring at him was him. Or his armor at least. Except the visor...it glowed blue instead of red. Oh no...he was real. He wasn't a vision of Ares.*
Talon. He is real like Iris said.
*Chris stood up uncertainly on the dock. Should he call Iris? Or just take the fight to Talon? The future and his soul were at stake.*

Cassie's attention seemed elsewhere.. that damn dream still maybe Wally could help somehow.
"Yeah sure.. just give me a minute. I don't wanna leave while I'm still in my pjs"
Cassie went into the bathroom and changed into her regular clothes.
" So where did you have in mind?"

"I know a place."
Wally scooped Cassie up and ran the two of them out of Midvale and down the countryside. They came to a stop at a hill overlooking Wally's hometown of Blue Valley. A dusting of snow covered everything, and the setting sun painted the sky in oranges and reds.
Wally took a deep breath.
"I'm starting to think that agreeing to room with Chris again was a bad idea. I mean, he's an awesome roomie, and we are totally Team Aaaawesommme together...but I'm afraid..."
Wally trailed off. This was harder to say than he thought it was going to be.
"I'm afraid I'm going to totally ruin it."
Wally turned away from Cassie.
"There's this...thing. I've suspected it for a long time, and Dani came in earlier today and talked to me, and then you came in, and that confirmed it. I.....I...."
He was having trouble getting it out. Wally traced his foot in the snow.

*Talon advanced across the ice without slipping. Chris couldn't manage that even in his armor. He backed down the dock. He was torn between fighting and running for help.*
Back off! My friends are on their way!
A lie. You are alone, Christopher Powell. Fortunately for you, your mind is not ready. It is closed to the Datasong and I will have to open it so I can release my brother.
Uh...Thor is nearby! He'll kick your a**!
Donald Blake despises you for stealing what he sees as his princess. I've been watching you, Powell.
And that's creepy.

Cassie was a little confused but still in shock over her dream.
" Wally... I'm not sure what you're talking about but.... something's terribly wrong with Chris. Don't ask me how I know I just know.... "
She looked down from the hill... seeing Blue Valley... somehow made her smirk a bit.
" It's really beatiful out here... Look Wally if there's anything you want to tell me then please go ahead and say it. You and I have been good friends for a long time and I like to think we could tell each other anything... well... almost anything."

Wally grabbed Cassie lightly by the arms and kissed her on the lips. His lips locked with hers for seconds...it felt longer to him...and then he released her and stepped back.
"I...I'm sorry!" Wally apologized in a rush. "But I just feel like...Cassie, you've always been there for me, and when I'm with you I feel...I don't know! I think I...I think I'm in love with you, Cassie!"
Wally stood there, shoulders drooped, feeling stupid and small in the snow. He flinched and waited for Cassie to slap him.

*Chris backed down the dock further. No...he should get his friends. They were stronger when working together. They could take down Talon and then-*
Face me or the next time your love sleeps, I will slip into her room in the stealth armor. I will walk up to her sleeping form and I will kill her. And I will wear your face while I do it.
*Chris was in his armor in a split second and tackled Talon off the edge of the dock as he was climbing on to it. They crashed to the ice and slide across the lake. Chris began pounding on Talon's helmet.*
YOU WON'T TOUCH HER!
*Talon unleashed a blast from his amulet and sent Chris flying backwards. He landed in a heap and slid across the ice to rest in a heap near some rocks. Talon stood up and tilted his head.*
Of course not. My brother will kill her when I release him.

Tears rolled down Cassie's cheeks... Since the beginning of school... since she first met Wally...she had a crush on him. But Cassie dismissed it thinking that Wally liked Dani, that if they were just friends it would be enough... just to know he was happy. Cassie would be betraying Chris..and Dani... but.
" Since ... since the day I met you I had a crush on you Wally. But I never thought I could have you... so I convinced myself that if you were happy then that would be enough... The reason Chris and I have been so off and on for so long is that I could never completely ignore my feelings for you. But..."
Cassie was shaking a little... she was still teary eyed.
" I don't want to hurt Chris or Dani... Dani's my best friend. But when I look at you... and after what you said ...I..."
Cassie then wrapped her arms around Wally and kissed him gently on the lips as the snow fell around them.

*Talon grabbed Chris by the amulet in the middle of his chest. Energy pulsed through his armor bringing waves of pain. Something...a noise...a song...sounded in his brain.*
Open your pathetic little mind to the Datasong, Powell. Open it and your pain will end.
*Chris's back arched in pain. He wouldn't submit! Images of Cassie filled his mind's eye and he was able to kick Talon in the stomach, driving him back. The voices of students drifted on the wind Talon glanced up the hill.*
You're not ready yet, Powell. But soon you will be. And the Fraternity of Raptors will live again.
*Talon slipped into stealth mode and disappeared from sight. Some of the cheerleading squad came down to the path and saw Chris lying flat on his back in the middle of the ice.*
What a weirdo. I don't know what Cassie sees in him.

Dani woke at the sound of the knock, groggy she squinted her eyes awake. By the time she could see anything, Cassie and Wally where gone in the bink of an eye.
"Uuhn..."
Since she couldn't fall asleep, she decided to go for a midnight run.
changing out of her torn up clothes and tossed them in the trash put on some running gear and headed out by the lake for a run.

There was a moment when Wallace was tempted to explain things, but he feared that Hartley might be upset about the loss of all of the Hostess treats. His fingers tapped on the counter top nervously, and he took a sip of his soda.
Wallace reached into his back pocket, and he pulled out the two tickets. Keeping them cupped in the palm of his hand, he slid his hand across the counter. One ticket was left behind, sparkling on the counter before Hartley. It appeared, almost magically in that one fluid movement.
Before Hartley could say a word, Wallace leaned forward and kissed him. Sure, he had kissed him the night before, but ...that hadn't really counted. Not if Hartley didn't even know that it had happened. It even seemed like the right moment...and...and...
Wallace's thoughts slipped away, his lips parting slightly, taking a hold of Hartley's lower lip. He was pretty sure the world had stopped, and nobody else would ever exist again except for the two of them.
