After the initial shock wore off and their lips parted, Michael took the opportunity to take over, for just a moment.
"Why, Tobias, it's been nearly two-hundred years since I've had a kiss." He took Toby's momentary confusion to tilt the man and dip him. Toby began to blush. Dari walked in laughing.
"We'd planned to scare you, but so much for that," Michael continued as he stood the still-shocked Toby up.
"Michael?"
Michael relinquished control.

Maia shook herself before blushing. Well, Michael seemed to recover quickly. Poor Toby, though. "Sorry, love," she said. "That wasn't part of the plan, then," she directed at Michael.
"I'm going to be making Michael a chocolate cake. He hasn't had chocolate since it was an awful bitter drink." she said. "Would you like to help?" Maybe baking would help him recover from the shock.

Michael laughed inside Maia's head and let his voice come from her mouth for just a few moments: "No, that was not part of the plan. It was nice, though. You're a lucky lady."
This was all for Toby's benefit, of course, because the werewolf simply stood there and wiped his lips on the back of his hand halfway before deciding that it might be offensive to Maia. What the hell was he supposed to do?
"Yeah, uh. Yeah, sure, come on," Toby said, and walked a bit oddly toward the kitchen.

"I know," Maia looked a bit awkward. It really was all thanks to Michael that she still had Toby here; but she hadn't expected them to kiss! She looked at Toby and smiled slightly. The poor guy. She reached for his hand and gave it a squeeze.
"You can wash your mouth out," she assured him. She would have, if it'd been the other way around! Hell, she'd been hesitant to hold Toby's hand while he was possessed. "He's staying the night," she added, thoughtfully. "Oh, Michael, that means you'll be here for dinner. What would you like?"

Toby laughed. "Well it was your mouth, there was just... someone else hiding in there."
"It's purely platonic, I promise you," Michael said.
"God, that's creepy."
"Anything is fine by me. I haven't been able to eat for quite a long time before you were so kind, Maia. Do you mind if I haunt something in here? I don't want to intrude, although if I could come back to eat..."
"Sure, as long as Maia's alright with it," Toby said, "We have a new cat. I mean, not that you should possess the cat, I'm just letting you know."

"Anything Toby makes is pretty good," Maia promised. "Do you want to wait until after dinner for the cake? We could show you how to make one." The poor guy had never had proper chocolate! "But yeah, anything is open to you. ...Just be nice to Peaches?" She said. She wasn't sure if ghosts could possess animals. It didn't hurt her any, but what about the cat?
She looked to Toby then. "What do you think he'd like for dinner?" She asked. Something good. "Stir fry?" She suggested.

"But I could make your life a hysterical family comedy," Michael said as he slipped out of Maia. His voice was in the air as he possessed a book on the coffee table. "You could have the world's first, talking, salsa-dancing cat."
"He won't hurt Peaches," Toby reassured her, and Michael appeared and nodded.
"What's stir fry?"
"I think that means 'yes, stir fry'," Toby said.

"You could?" Maia smiled slightly. She didn't doubt it. "A talking cat?" She echoed. That was appealing... The dancing she could do without. "Dancing might be hard on him, he's pretty lazy," she said.
"I think so too," she agreed. He'd never tried it before, then. They'd go through things there hadn't been in England during Victorian times, someday. Or maybe she'd ask Michael what there had been, so they knew what not to make. "It's different, you'll like it. There's vegetables in it."

"Not with his real mouth, unfortunately," Michael said. He disappeared and reappeared in the kitchen, admiring the shiny metal appliances, most of which he knew how to use in a very basic form, but could use supernaturally without any trouble. "Alright," he said to Maia. Vegetables. He'd liked those, he was pretty sure.

"That's right, they don't have the vocal chords." Or the lips. "When I first met Toby and Dari, Dari turned into a seal for me. He couldn't say anything." Michael seemed to be exploring the kitchen.
"Do you want dessert before or after dinner?" She asked. "We'll teach you how to bake!" A good, proper chocolate cake.

"They have two sets of vocal cords," Dari corrected with a smile, "One for meowing and one for purring."
"They just don't have lips," Michael said, "so he'd sound a little bit like someone at the dentist."
'We'll make the cake first, unless anyone's really hungry? That way it'll cool before we frost it," Toby offered.
"Well I don' feel hunger," Dari teased.
"Yes. yes, I know. I guess I'm just asking you, Maia."

"I heard they meow because they think we're pretty dim," Maia offered. "I guess they don't meow towards other cats."
She looked to Toby then and shook her head. "I'm fine. Are you hungry?" She asked. "I could whip something up before dinner, if you'd like."

"Peaches must be really dumb, then, because I've heard him meow maybe twice. Not at us, either," Toby said as he started gathering ingredients. The flour was on the counter when he had turned around to get it. Then the milk was too, gone from inside the fridge. He arched a brow at Michael, who just smiled back.
"No, no, I'm fine. Let's bake. It'll wake up our appetites."

"No," Maia immediately defended, "Peaches is smarter than the average cat. He understands us, he's just lazy. And Seamus likes him." And the selkie, biased as she was, figured Seamus wouldn't enjoy the company of a below average kitty.
Oh, Michael was helping! Baking as a family was nice! If only Lori and Luca weren't so dreadful at it... Maia smiled. "I'll get the sugar," she said. "Michael, can you get the eggs?"

Tobby rolled his eyes and shook his head. Maia loved her cat, and he had done a good job picking him. Peaches was pretty lazy, though, and probably not all too smart either, but Seamus did hang around him, so he had to at least be good company.
"Yes," Michael said. Toby turned away and Maia went to get the sugar, and suddenly the eggs were on the counter.
