epically stupid-awesome, or what!?
mrgreen Jesus man
gonk Also, how does your character end up with levels in so many different classes? I don't understand multiclassing rules all that well yet and need to know stuff like this.
there are no rules limiting the number of classes you can take in 3rd edition or 3.5e, though for each class you have more than 1 level away from
any other class you have levels in, you take a 20% EXP penalty. so, if you have a Rogue 2/ Wizard 3 for eample you are fine. if you take another level of wizard (making it Rogue 2/ Wizard 4) you gain 20% less EXP from encounters until your classes are within 1 level of eachother again. but if you gain another level of Rogue instead (making it Rogue 3/ Wizard 3) you are in the clear.
also, if you have a Rogue 2/ Wizard 3/ Fighter 4 you have a 20% EXP penalty because your Fighter levels are more than 1 level away from your Rogue levels. if you gain another level of Fighter than you suffer a 40% EXP penalty because it's more than 1 level away from both your Rogue
and your Wizard levels.
finally, each Race has a "Favoured Class" which gets ignored for these purposes. Elves ignore their Wizard levels for determining an EXP penalty for Multiclassing. that would have prevented the Rogue 2/ Wizard 4 from an EXP penalty, and would have made the Rogue 2/ Wizard 3/ Fighter 5 only suffer 20% instead of 40%, but would not have helped the Rogue 2/ Wizard 3/ Fighter 4 one bit.
Races with Favoured Class: Any ignore their highest level class at any given level. this can get somewhat complicated, but allows for more diversity.
finally, Prestige Classes get ignored for EXP penalties.
as for all those levels.... well, there are 20 Heroic Levels (normal game play) and then an infinite number of Epic Levels. Epic Characters are those who have more than 20 levels. it allows them to get alot of superpowered abilities and feats and such, but they are only allowed to get their 21st level by earning it not only with EXP but also some Epic accomplishment. not every GM/DM allows Epic Characters.
my character there, will suffer an EXP penalty for a while becaus eof the stray Druid levels. I think only 20% after the 4th Druid Level, because I have Favoured Class: Any.
